Perfect for making refrigerator dispenser
My new hobbies include feeding about 60 hummingbirds on my patio, from 6 feeders. They eat/drink about 1-1/2 lbs of sugar/water mix every 24 hours. I was tired of using three one-gallon containers to mix 10 lbs of sugar and water every week. Also the containers were hard to clean, so I bought this 18L polycarbonate cube-shaped container with lid. Drilled a 3/4″ hole near the bottom, installed a cheap spigot – PERFECT!Now I mix up 20 lbs of sugar with 10L of water twice a month. Ideal for dispensing from refrigerator into my 1.5L filling bottle and then to the 6 12oz feeders on the patio. Very happy. Would buy again.

Both corners where the cooker attaches cracked and it now leaks.
Ordered this in March 2019. It gets used about 2 or 3 times a month. The lid forces the cooker to be installed on the tub corner due to cutout in the lid. Since lid isn’t square, you can only use 2 of the 4 corners. Not that 4-years isn’t too bad on useful life at the price point, it is less than I was expecting from Rubbermaid. I did try to seal the cracks with Flex Seal tape and one of the cracks extended itself after the tape was applied. The tape DID seal it off until the crack at one corner got longer. I am replacing this item with another brand name where the cooker is used on one side instead of on a corner. That will eliminate any stress from the cooker tightening knob on the flat side plastic vs the curved corner plastic.

Best Containers Ever
We are a family of 7 and buy flour, sugar, etc in bulk at Sam’s Club and Costco. I decided a few years ago that I wanted to get containers to store it in to help better organize our pantry and I happened upon a pack of 2 of these while at Sam’s Club. They were a fantastic price and they were absolutely perfect. They fit a lot of flour, sugar, etc in them and are so easy to get a measuring cup in and out of. The containers themselves are a great size for keeping on a shelf and easy to get on and off a shelf; while they’re big they’re not so big that they can’t easily be handled. Aesthetically they’re very pleasing and they definitely help with organization. Needless to say I loved them so much that I wanted to buy more, but when I went back they had sadly discontinued them. When I searched for them on Amazon at that time they were incredibly expensive so I couldn’t buy more from here. But recently I got back around to trying to find them again and finally found them on Amazon for a great price. I ordered 2 more and was super pleased to find that they are the same quality and I love them just as much. I highly recommend these! A couple things to add- these are definitely air tight and leak proof. The lids can seem quite hard to get on at first, but I found that you get used to how to get them on all the way and it’s definitely worth it to get that air tight, leak proof seal. Theses are incredibly durable and I expect that will last 10+ years. These are easy to clean.

The measurements on the side is the pain reason I purchased these. I use them for water changes in my 3.5 gallon aquarium. The measurements really help. Nice an durable. I’m sure they would be great for cooking as well. Difficult to find this size.

Good but NO LID
Us customers are paying this much for bins WITH NO LIDS. That doesn’t make sense. Why would have a picture of lids on this product if we’re not getting lids with this. This size bin was expensive and you gave me no lid. FALSE ADVERTISING!!!!!

Rubbermaid Commercial Products Space Saving Food Storage Container, 8-Quart, Clear, -40 F to…The Amazon top description says to “121 F” but the Amazon specs, the containers themselves, and Rubbermaid’s web site says 212 F.Reviewers are upset because they scratched their clear containers by scraping the stickers with butter knives or their teeth. The adhesive is aggressive so take some hand sanitizer, alcohol swabs, or for you sous vide folks, cognac and soak that sticker, then walk away. Have a cup of tea. Seriously, give it five minutes, then scrape with an old credit card or your fingernails. The paper will come off, leaving residue. Hit it again with the alcohol. Have more tea. Scrape it away with nothing more abrasive than a coffee filter.The containers will leak if they are turned on their side so don’t tip them. The lids keep smells in–they’re pretty tight. 6 quart and 8 quart Rubbermaid containers use the same white 6509 Lid. The lids accumulate lots of little scratches from the containers’ burrs when they’re stacked and get slightly tacky to the touch. The container is marked recycle code 7 for Other. The Lid recycle code is 4 for LDPE.The container top and the lids are not square. The inside measurement is 7 3/4″ by 8 3/4″ with the markings on the shorter sides and the handles on the longer sides. There’s some taper to the bottom.NSF means it will take the high heat of a commercial dishwasher. The lids are probably happiest if you put them in the top rack. My home dishwasher NSF “Sani” cycle hits 165 F for a solid minute.The little outboard handles each have one small hole so water drains when upside down.My 8 quart has embossed black lines on one side for each quart with 2, 4, 6 and 8 quart lines labeled like “8 Qt”. Much easier to use for sous vide then a pot
I used my Anova sous vide in a big stock pot for years. My family is getting bigger so I was running out of space in that pot. Finally decided to do the container thing. Got a matching cutout lid and now my setup is fine and dandy. I’ve been using it for awhile now and it still looks like new.

Lid only fits one way
The lid dimensions are approximately 8 1/2 x 9 inches so it only fits if aligned correctly which is not a huge problem but when you are busy in the kitchen it’s another thing that slows the flow. Also these are made of poly-carbonate which is more brittle than the Cambro brand of containers, another plus for Cambro are lids that are easier to put on.

Doesn’t hold smells after use
I used this to corn a beef for st Patrick’s day and the best part about it is it didn’t hold onto any of the corn beef scent after I washed it in the sink with just soap and water. Not sure what type of plastic this is but I wish all containers did that.

No quality control
Mine came with lines/parts of the numbers not adhered. I’m just using this to be able to visually see/mark where my sourdough is at during bulk fermentation. I could return/exchange but I bought it because I needed it now. I also think it’s weird they make you buy the lid separately.

Love this container!
I love this container for my sous vide device. I bought it with the EVERIE hinged lid, and they work perfectly together. I have the Insta pot sous vide device and together all three products maintain the exact temperature I set. I have checked multiple times with thermometers, and the temperature is right on the mark. This container is perfect size for my countertop, and is not in the way for long cooks. It cleans up easily and stores nicely with my sous vide device, and folding lid tucked inside. I would purchase again, and highly recommend this container with the EVERIE hinged lid. (See separate review for it)

Wish I Had Gotten One a Year Ago!
I bought a Joule last year during Prime Day with all these thoughts of sous-viding up a storm, but since I read that you can just use a pot with it, I didn’t bother wasting money on a container or tools specifically for that cooking method. Turns out I wasn’t very good at keeping my Joule in my pot and my Ziploc submerged, so I wasn’t a sous-vide convert and used the Joule exactly one time. Fast forward a year later, I came across a recipe for turchetta that intrigued me and of course, it used the sous-vide method, so I decided to dig out my Joule and try again. . .but this time, with some proper equipment! Enter this clear container! Seems so simple, but along with a hinged cover and some vacuum bags (all from Amazon!), I found the process so much easier and not annoying like my first not so joyous experience. I did consider getting a diff. recommended brand, but this one was so much cheaper, and honestly, works perfectly for what I need. It seems durable and as long as you don’t drop it or something like that, should last a long time. Since the water stays clean in sous-vide cooking, I left my container with all the water in it for a month (covered) and then reused it and it was fine – no leaking. I’m using mine for the one purpose, but if I emptied it out, it would also make a nice container for plenty of other uses, especially because it has the convenience of measurements and handles! I would definitely recommend picking up one of these containers (plus a lid because it doesn’t come with one) if you’re getting into sous-vide cooking – it’s an affordable way to simplify the process!

Works great!
After receiving all the parts to my order (the Anova Precision Cooker, the Cellar Made Sous Vide Lid and the 12 qt Rubbermaid Container) the day before Valentine’s day, I was excited to use it. I was making Valentine’s Day dinner for my husband–lobster, filet mignon and asparagus. I was concerned about getting it all prepared to serve at the same time. Everything was easy to set up.The lid fit perfectly and kept the water from evaporating and was easy to remove without taking off the Anova Cooker.The Rubbermaid container is a great size for everyday cooking of chicken, salmon, steaks, etc. I can’t wait to try vegetables as well.I highly recommend all three items. However, I ordered the Anova Cooker for WiFi and when I tried to download the app, I got a message that said it was not currently available in the US store (the Apple App Store) even though the instructions point you there and the Anova website directs you there. I emailed me them on 2/13 and have yet to receive an acknowledgement of my email or a response. You can still use the Cooker without using the app, though the point is to be able to control the Cooker without being there. The Cooker did not have very clear instructions on using it but was not too hard to figure out.I first prepared the live lobsters by putting them in the freezer for an hour (puts them to sleep before plunging them into boiling water). Then I prepared the filet mignons which would cook for an hour. I blanched the asparagus for a quick sauté after the rest of the meal was ready. The lobsters took longer than expected to cook and cut up but I new the sous vide Cooker would hold the water at the proper temp for as long as needed. By the time I removed the beef and seared it in my cast iron skillet, the lobster was cold, so I threw the lobster in a zip lock bag and put it in the still warm sous vide water to warm up. While the beef rested after searing, I threw the asparagus into the same skillet and everything was easy to serve!

Exactly what she wanted
My gf got a sous vide from me last year. This year she got this container and she was so happy. I bought the lid too. We used it last night on a steak. The cleanup is so easy. No extra pot with binder clips. This is an absolute must for any sous vide. I was worried about the hole size for her Chefman but it was just fine.

Using for sous vide cooking, but alarmed by warning
Like others, I’m using this as a sous vide cooking vessel. I live in California and we require special warning labels on items that fall on the list on Prop 65. I was a bit alarmed that this item listing doesn’t state that the container has substance(s) known to the state of California to cause cancer or reproductive harm. Since the food won’t actually touch the container, I’m not as concerned as I would be if I had intended this for long term bulk storage. The sticker didn’t state what substance and the lid does not carry the warning. Granted, California goes overboard with certain warnings, restrictions and bans; but this factoid would have been nice to know before I purchased this item. I usually purchase Cambro, and their similar products don’t have this warning. I’m putting this out there for folks considering this product for bulk storage so they can make an informed decision. Many folks are sensitive to chemicals (BPA)leeching into their food/water. Other than being ‘surprised’ by the warning, the container works great and is a great size for the Anova sous vide device. Im not downgrading this item simply because I don’t know how big of a risk this item is exposing folks to…it meets food safety requirements in other states. (example: All fine China and crystal carries the Prop 65 warning because of the tiny amount of lead used in their manufacture. Smoked oysters also carry this warning because of lead and cadmium, but I still eat them….)

18 quart listed size is wrong
The listing for this item says the dimensions for the 18 qt are 11.25″ x 11.25″ x 12″. The actual inside diameter is 10 x 10 x 12. As such this container is useless for my purposes. In fact I would not have bought it had I known beforehand. Other than that it is just like any other plastic container. Sturdy enough for any amount of food you care to put it in and most likely will clean up easily.

For Most Sous Vide Meals
We’re only two people, and so most of what we’re cooking is going to be smaller items. Whatever it is, almost always fits in a single 1-gallon bag, or sometimes a single 1-quart bag. I’m using the Aukuyee immersion circulator, which needs 7-1/2 inches of clearance for the water. I’d originally used a 4-gallon Rubbermaid trash can, but that really was too much water. I still use it if we’re doing ribs, or a cut up chicken. But more often, we’re doing just a package of chicken legs or thighs, maybe a chuck steak, or a small pork or lamb roast. This bucket is perfect. It’s about 1-3/4 gallons worth of functional water, so I’m not sitting forever filling it up. It also heats to temperature quickly, with the smaller amount of water and an 1100-watt heater. Good solid plastic, two handles — one on either side — and simple markings for quarts. Very good little bin. I just use plastic film wrap to cover it if I’m doing something for 8-hours or more. Didn’t bother to buy the lid.

I needed some easily moved, easily filled containers for my freezer to keep wee packages of things in, to keep them organized and from sliding down and getting lost in the bottom of my chest freezer. They are easy to lift out even when full to access frozen food below them. and if one isn’t full another one nests in it quite well, saving space.

Wider and more shallow than an older Rubbermaid of the same volume- It is not a space saver!!
It actually looked a bit like it had been used but it might have been that it wasn’t packed properly and got some scratches on it. I scrubbed it with soap and water and kept it. It takes up more space in the fridge than one I bought direct from a restaurant supply store 10 years ago. It will do but I suggest you check out restaurant supply stores and buy it there. There are less expensive options for this Rubbermaid 12 quart container.

Heavy duty storage containers
I’ve just purchased two of these large containers, both the 12-quart and the 18-quart size, with the intention to use them with our
Anova sous vide cooker
(similarly to many others here).My wife was immediately concerned when she noticed the sticker on the bottom of each container: “WARNING: This product contains a chemical known to the State of California to cause birth defects or other reproductive harm”.So that was a turn-off, even considering that our planned use of these containers is simply to hold the heated water while cooking food that would be in its own plastic bag and thus (hopefully) well isolated from any of the nasty BPA plastic chemicals that could theoretically seep into the water and from there find their way into our precious bodily fluids.And to be fair, these are sold as food ‘storage’ containers, not cooking pots. Using them for sous vide purposes is presumably not what they were originally intended for.With that in mind, I would also point out that these are quite large and relatively heavy (for plastic) containers, clearly made for commercial or other heavy duty use. The handles moulded into the sides are also heavy and solidly attached. The graduated markings on the sides do clearly indicate the level of fluid inside, although they are simple black markings for the containers I received and not the color markings shown in the product photos here on Amazon and as received by some of the other purchasers here.I also purchased two of the matching lids:

, and they fit well.These are relatively expensive for plastic containers but considering their large size and heavy construction I think that the price is fair.My four-star rating is only due to the BPA content, because so many people are now wanting to use them for sous vide and possibly other cooking purposes. Otherwise these are just fine.

Very Useful For Draining Coolant Fluid & Transmission Fluid To This Container
I like the see thru advantage of using this container. It gives one a good idea of how dirty or contaminated various fluids in a vehicle are. It appears to be quite sturdy & the handles are quite useful. I can’t comment on the durability as I’ve only used it for 2 projects so far.My only complaint is the volume scale is so limited for an 8-quart container. Why the manufacturer wouldn’t break down the volume scale down to at least half quarts as opposed to only dividing the scale to full quarts is beyond me. I mean, the scale is just stamped on, how much more ink and cost would it require to make this a great container for more precise measuring?

18 L Perfect for brining a 14 lb Turkey!
I bought this for the express purpose of brining my 14 lb Turkey. I got the 18liter, and there is extra room, so I think a larger bird would fit this size too. I love the handles on the side of the container bc it’s pretty heavy with the bird and the water. Be aware that you need to buy a lid separately if you need one!

fits in kitchen sink
I use this container to sous vide and what I especially like about it is that it fits in the kitchen sink. I have a sink with 2 compartments. It is easy to clean. Have used it a few times and so far so good!

Perfect with my Anova One!!!!
After seeing this product mentioned in Jason Logsdons’ sous vide book and reading a rating by someone who found it useful with their sous vide circulator I decided to give it a try because this item is BPA free whereas the container most often used is not. BPA may not be an issue if this container is used solely for food vacuum sealed, but then again we don’t know that for sure and I prefer to err on the safe side. Additionally I’ve been looking for a container large enough to brine poultry (obviously not vacuum sealed) and this seemed to be the perfect size for my family of four’s everyday sized chicken, two Cornish hens or turkey parts.It’s important to note this commercial grade (very sturdy & well made) container does not include a lid, but the lid is available on Amazon for a few extra bucks. In my opinion this container with the additional cost for the lid is a bargain.Hubby carefully cut the lid (using one of my expensive knives….doghouse!) so the Anova One would fit with just a smidgen of wiggle room. The previous rating proved totally true. My first attempt at sous vide using this container, it’s lid custom cut buy hubby with no difficulty and an Anova One I received as a gift made the best NY Strip steak we’ve tasted outside of a VERY FEW, VERY PRICEY restaurants. Even then, the difference was very minimal and may have been nonexistent had we let it cook a bit longer. We were just too excited and gobbled it up as soon as the minimum cooking time passed.I’m kind of a perfectionist, very picky about my kitchen and what I actually use when prepping and cooking. This is a keeper!

Sturdy, functional, not “fancy”.
Shown in the picture is the 6L container holding a 4.4lb bag of corn masa flour. You can see by comparison, a 5lb bag of all purpose flour is nearly equivalent. You could probably use the 4L container to hold either, but there wouldn’t be much room remaining for a measuring cup, or any leftover flour between bags.It’s sturdy, but I wouldn’t want to drop it from counter height. This is a #7 “other” plastic, so I don’t know exactly what kind of plastic it is. It has some flex, but crystal clear plastics tend to be more brittle than other polypropylene plastics (#5) that are not quite crystal clear but have more flex to them. That said, the walls are thick, the top corners are reinforced, and the bottom corners are rounded to help disburse shock if it were dropped.The lid was purchased separately. There’s no rubber seal, so I can’t say it’s airtight, but it does snap down firmly over the lip of the container so it should keep out pantry moths, which was my biggest concern.Its size proportions are more suited to an actual pantry rather than the overhead cabinets I will be keeping it in, but it will meet my needs.

Sous-vide in the Clear, 12 Quart Container
A note about this review: I did not use this container for the advertised purpose. Instead, I used it as many others have and will, as a sous-vide bath for cooking. My review will be from this point of view.Positives+Works great with Anova Sous-vide+Sturdy, even when full of water+Clear and easy to see the items cooking inside.+Easy to cleanNegatives-Is not BPA FreeI purchased the clear 12 quart storage container for the sole purpose of using it to cook with my Anova Sous-vide. I wanted something that would be large enough to accommodate large meals for when I have friends or family over, and it definitely does. I can easily feed 6 people with the space and though I have not tried, probably up to 10. Because the container is so much bigger than the pot I was originally using, it does take longer to warm the water, but as long as you fill it with hot water from the tap it should not take too long before you’re ready to cook.I also purchased the lid (linked below) for the container to try and prevent loss of water through evaporation. The lid is flexible plastic and I had no problem cutting a hole into it for the sous-vide to pass through. The lid sits pretty snug, even with multiple binder clips holding my sealed food circling the rim.Overall I think this is a great container for sous-vide cooking. It is sturdy even when filled with water, easy to see through to your food cooking inside, and works great with the Anova sous-vide.Container Lid:

Works as intended
Works as intended for my sous vide. I got the lid that is meant for it and it helps with evaporation and works great. Not much else to say.
