What The Heck? Amazon, Please Look Into This!
I am not sure what to think here. Many of the reviews are for the “Chunk Light” not the “Solid White Albacore” which is what I bought- and what I got. That is the only option available, so I don’t know why the verified purchases for light tuna are appearing here. Additionally, some reviews are for the smaller pop top type cans that come in a multi-pack. I quit buying chunk light tuna several years ago because of the decline to mushy texture and stronger fishy smell. Full disclosure, I was buying Starkist, not Chicken of the Sea, but the Starkist chunk light tuna I grew up on had evolved into a product more like cat food than I cared to eat. My only reason for trying this brand was BECAUSE it is labeled as Solid White Albacore, the price was better than my grocery store, and I had some room in my pantry box so this product popped up as a recommendation. Had I come to the page and looked at the reviews or the photographs, I would absolutely positively passed on buying it. The rusty cans shown at the top of the product page are disgusting. It is not likely I will purchase this again even though the cans I received were fine and I couldn’t really tell any difference from my usual brand.

Great packaging, great for camping and hiking, only so-so on taste.
I was going to write a review after it arrived, because I loved how it was packaged. But I decided to hold off and try it first.Glad I did!First of all, this is a great item to take camping or hiking. If you have a cat, these are about the same size as a can of Fancy Feast.They are small, compact and pop-top. They are great for putting into your prepping supplies as well – good source of protein.I like tuna and thought this would be a great thing for me to also keep upstairs for lunches (mobility problems restrict my access to the kitchen).Well, I have to be honest. It isn’t very good.The tuna is really mushy. The texture is close to unpleasant, in fact. Think if you opened a regular can of tuna and ran it through the food processor, water and all. That’s what you’d have. Sort of like tuna paste! The taste wasn’t all that either. I tried adding a little mayo, but that didn’t help either. So, I have 23 more cans of tuna paste! Better than starving, great for camping, and that’s about all I can say for it.Oh yeah – great packaging.I expected a box with 24 cans in it, like cat food. Instead, it came wonderfully packaged in sleeves of three cans each.I give that five stars, the taste one star, so I’ll meet in the middle with three.

Not worth the price
The flavor is fine but it is not worth the price. 3 3oz cans for @$9 when not on sale, (even at sale price on amazon it is not worth it)…. when I can get it at the local store for $5.00. Why is there such a huge markup on the price when we are purchasing it from the company through amazon?

Don’t buy the single cans, they dent in delivery and some are old, brown and stinky.
I gave it three stars because Chicken of the Sea and the Solid White Albacore Tuna in Water is my favorite tuna. However, this product on Amazon as a single can purchase on the other hand should be AVOIDED AT ALL COSTS.I ordered almost 100 of these cans, (I said I loved their tune). However, I had to throw away a good 15-20 of them because of either1) dented cans. The box it was delivered in had the cans just all over the place, such that I am sure the dents occurred in delivery. And I only threw away the extremely dented ones.More importantly.2) Some of the tuna was really really old. Meaning I would open the can and the stench that came out of it, and looking at the tuna is was so dark. You can tell good fresh tuna as it is white/pinkish in color. When it is brown, flush it down!!!!!!.My recommendation, which I had done before is buy the version that have wrapping around them in like a 6 pack. As they won’t get tossed around, and you might only have to deal with a few bad cans of old tuna.

Not for picky eaters
My wife is a picky eater. She will go natural or organic when she can. When we go grocery shopping she scrutinizes every piece of fruit and vegetable before picking the ones she wants. When it comes to tuna she seems to notice the difference between the major brands. You see we got this pack of tuna, which seemed to work out fine. Then not too long ago she decides she doesn’t like Chicken of the Sea anymore. I think the brand is fine myself, but she notices it has a fishy smell… and not in a good way. What she gets from that smell is the tuna is not as fresh as it can be. I believe her, even if it may be a marginal difference.So there you have it. If you have been asking yourself what is the best tuna of the two main brands (StarKist and Chicken of the Sea) Chicken of the Sea didn’t pass the wife test. This particular deal is also not really a steal… at least in my area. You can get a can for around a dollar and a tiny bit of change. That makes the price tag on this pack as of this review way too much. If you decide my wife is cuckoo and, like me, can’t tell the difference make sure you check out your local prices and do the math before ordering. Then see if it’s worth it.

Let’s compare this product against Costco’s Chicken of the Sea Chunk Light Tuna in water
The largest skipjack tuna are given to the sushi bars and poke sellers to be eaten raw as sushi, sashimi, or poke. That’s especially true if the skipjack tuna is caught in U.S., Japanese, or Australian waters. Costco’s Chicken of the Sea Chunk Light Tuna contains some of the largest skipjack tuna that were caught near Thailand. One can of Costco’s Chicken of the Sea Chunk Light Tuna contains 7 ounces of tuna meat compared to only 5 ounces of tuna meat per can in this product, which contains 48 cans per pack. Costco’s product contains 12 cans per pack and usually sells for about $15.99. The tuna meat in this product is somewhat more flakier (lower in quality) than the tuna meat in Costco’s product, which uses the highest quality, solid, shoulder meat area of the skipjack tuna fish. However, the quality of the tuna meat in this product isn’t too bad. I’ve seen even flakier (less solid) tuna meat in the cheapest tuna cans sold at some supermarkets. Both Costco’s tuna product and this tuna product come from Thailand but I’ve noticed that “Product of Thailand” is suddenly no longer printed on this tuna product from Amazon.com. Interestingly, by weight, only 10% of all tuna fish are caught in the entire Atlantic Ocean plus Mediterranean Sea. By weight, 22% of all tuna fish are caught in the Indian Ocean and 68% of all tuna fish are caught in the Pacific Ocean. Shark fishing is illegal in the Atlantic Ocean but legal in the Pacific Ocean. I wonder if that has anything to do with why tuna fish prefer to inhabit the Pacific Ocean. By weight, about 60% of all tuna fish caught are skipjack tuna, about 24% are yellowfin tuna, about 10% are bigeye tuna, about 5% are albacore tuna, and the remaining 1% is bluefin tuna according to Wikipedia.

Everyday Tuna
I suppose that for the price this is good tuna. Amazon’s price was as cheap as my local store so I bought a few cans.The best thing I can say about it is, well, it’s convenient and relatively inexpensive.Taste? What there is of it is mildly fishy. Not in a bad ‘old’ fishy way, just a bit fishy. It might be called Chicken of the Sea, but there is no mistaking it for anything but tuna fish from a can.After getting the American tuna, this is pretty bad, but this is a fraction of the cost. My cans had an even mix of chunks and flakes. Better than the no name store brands. Another good thing is the long shelf life. It seems like the dates on tuna cans are always later than other canned goods like vegetables or soups.If you really like tuna, the American one is a nice splurge once in a while, but this is an ok everyday tuna for casseroles and tuna melts.

Good canned tuna
This is my preferred style of tuna.On the debate about whether this tuna is “solid” enough, I would call the texture more “flakey” in that it’s not an impenetrable rock that needs to be pried out of the can and laboriously crumbled. It’s a top-quality “white” (not “light”) tuna that mixes right up with mayonnaise.On the taste debate, this is what I expect in canned white tuna. Canned tuna does have it’s characteristic taste. This one is clean and pleasant, not greasy.

Problems with reaching the tuna!
I’m a big fan of chicken and tuna (and mermaids) so when I saw 48 cans on sale, I had to click Add to Cart. WHAT a MISTAKE. While tuna is nutritious and can easily be turned into various meals (tuna salad, tuna sandwich, tuna in a bowl, tuna as cat food…) you have to be able to REACH the tuna! This tuna is surrounded by a tough, cylindrical barrier. It is smooth, round, and looks and sounds like metal when you throw it against the wall so i’m pretty sure it’s some type of new plastic made in China. I would stay away from this unless your cart also contains a can opener made in China.

the contents are fine.
I order from Prime if I can find a comparable product to my grocery in terms of price and ratio in the Prime box (ie. does it fill too much of the box to make the order make sense vs. smaller items) and the ease of having dry foods come to the house directly instead of driving out into town (we are rural). This item fits my criteria, and it came as it would from the store. Sometimes the boxes get dented because it will take a tumble around the UPS truck, but it’s a box… the contents are fine.

Chicken of the Sea Chunk Light Tuna in Water
I love the brand, the size and the easy open feature. I was thrilled to find this lightening deal! These are perfect to prepare with noodles, rice or bread as a meal for one. I don’t have any left over as I do with some of the larger cans. I always use the lid to push down on the tuna (while upside down over the sink) to drain out the excess water. The only disadvantage is with the easy open lid it forms a gentle “C”, so have to be a little careful that tuna doesn’t also drain out of the can.

Great Tuna at a GREAT price
This tuna is a great tasting solid pack yellowfin tuna like we use to get about 40 years ago. Make sure you order enough that the shipping is free. I have had a hell of a time finding it in the stores is why I had to revert to finding it on the internet. Take my word for it that it is worth it (a little to pricey if you do not get enough for free shipping) but even worth it if you have to pay the shipping as the crap that there selling in the stores is not worth buying at all. Tasty
If you are looking to add fish to your diet, but sometimes find tuna to be a little too “fishy” then here is your solution.Yes, it’s still fish, but it’s sort of like how white meat chicken is compared to dark meat chicken – a little drier and a little less deeper flavor. It makes it great if your family aren’t a bunch of fish fans.

We recent made the move away from processed sandwich meats and started eating more fish. Chicken of the Sea, Chunk Light in Water is our favorite despite the fact that there is trend towards less actual tuna and and more water! This and the size of the cans has shrunk.Despite this, the taste of tuna has remained consistent, and therefore a staple in our pantry.

Perfect for my needs

Best I have found
Mixed my last can of Bumble Bee solid albacore to one of the six cans of Ckicken of the Sea that just arrived from Amazon. I enjoyed the Bumble Bee but the significant other insisted Chick was better. Side by side comparison showed she was right. More solid chunks, less of the mush in Chick than in BB. Both taste good. If I were reviewing both I’d givea a 4 to BB and, as you can see, a 5 to Chick. And a great bargain on Amazon.

The label information was wrong
It said on the posted label 10mg of Cholesterol per serving. The cans I received the label said 20. I am on very cholesterol restricted diet and I purchased the product because of the label info shown on the description. Do beware of that. My spouse doesn’t have that restriction and said it is the usual quality for Chicken of the Sea. I gave it three stars because of the incorrect label information displayed.

Not exactly what I oredered.
Everything was fine as far being delivered on time and in good shape. The problem is that I specifically looked for and ordered a case of “EZ-Open” cans, but was sent 24 regular opening cans. Luckily Amazon also sells can openers. The tuna itself was fine, your standard albacore tune in water.

This tuna is great BUT do not order this deal!!!!!! No matter what the fulfillment center is only going to send you ONE CAN for 19.92!!!!!! Not the 6 for 19.92!!! Even when the excellent customer service representatives try to resend the order to you; You will only get ONE CAN; NOT THE SIX you paid for. Save yourself the frustration and look at other tuna selections.

We love this product and will order again. Remember to always have food on hand that you can easy open, for can openers can break! This is a top of the line tuna in excellent broth that is delicious. Good product, but there’s a critical error in the description
First, let’s be fair to Chicken of the Sea. The tuna that I’ve eaten before, in smaller cans, has a very good taste when compared to others that are packed in water. The expiration date is very acceptable (Nov. 2022). The problem with Amazon’s offering here however, is that the headline advertises that it’s a pack of 6. In reality, it is really only 1 can. For the price of this one can, I can buy smaller cans from other warehouse stores totally the same weight, but for less money. It’s still a decent product, but the deal as advertised is not really available. So, 5 stars for the product, but 1 star for the Amazon error.

I confess I haven’t done a price comparison between this and the least expensive tunas, like Bumble Bee or something, so I’m not sure about value, but I will say that the inexpensive tuna is pretty much mush in a can. Even if it’s just being mixed in with mayo, it just makes a slushy tuna substance. This is more solid, but not quite like the super premium stuff. However, the real premium stuff costs about three times as much. I like the taste of this. If you were just making tuna sandwiches, casserole, an excellent value. If you needed the appearance of solid chunks in a dish, like a salad or something, you could use about 1/2 of what’s in the can. The other half is loose fibers.

One of the best Albacore tuna products!
One of a couple of brands we use, depending on price and availability. I usually think the snap tops are a little silly, but it was wonderful after dealing with a broken arm for four months. Unlike other oblong containers the key is stable. So far I haven’t had one break. I still prefer to use a can opener overall.

This is a great tuna, and if you’re buying it here in bulk, you’ve probably already had it. (NEVER buy something in bulk if you haven’t tried it first!)I love the actual tuna, the reason I knocked off a star however is the can. It’s difficult to drain the water because the top of the can is so flimsy! It just pushes in, but doesn’t push the water out while keeping the tuna in!I don’t like that it’s such a pain to drain, but overall a good product and a good buy at about twenty-one bucks.

Very pleased!
I hardly ever find cans of tuna below $.50 each anymore so this was a GREAT deal. I received it today and immediately opened a can. One thing I noticed was that although it is exactly the same can (and has the same wording on the front) as another can I have at home that was purchased a couple months ago (within the last 5 months or sooner), it has less sodium in it. It has 180mg and the other had 250mg per serving (same size serving). It made it a little more bland and watery tasting but better for your health obviously so I was very happy with this. I would definitely recommend this to anybody that likes to eat tuna on a regular basis 🙂

Not what I expected
With all the high reviews maybe we just got a bad batch because I wasn’t impressed at all. I have had tuna packed in water in the past and you could just crack the top open slightly and drain the water out leaving nice flake tuna. When I tried this with the first can nothing came out. I went ahead and opened the can all the way. The contents looked like mush loaded with white fatty grease. I tried scooping some of the fat off the top but it went well beyond the top. I gave it 2 stars rather than one since after making it into tuna salad with mayo and relish and such, it didn’t taste bad. The initial look of it alone though made it difficult to enjoy. The cat doesn’t seem to mind it. I won’t buy it again.

Albacore tuna, just a better taste than your normal tuna
Tuna is really all the same unless you can find a good albacore or yellowfin tuna. This Albacore tuna is a good tuna with no oil providing exactly what you need for salads and sandwiches. Very consistent taste and quality in the six cans we received.I can never find Chicken of the Seas premium tuna so Amazon.com becomes the right home for us on price and service.

I know some folks had some issues with their batches, and while certainly the tuna is not solid white albacore, and is a bit darker and slightly less chunky, it tastes perfectly fine. Certainly the price is right.

Not the best
…but it is edible. I like the super saver free shipping mainly, otherwise I would purchase another brand. This is emergency lunch that conveniently gets shipped directly to my office, where I keep it for when I do not have time to step out, but need to have protein. Most cans are fine, but every now and then, you get a funky can of tuna, which doesn’t look right.

Cat’s tuna
I bougth this tuna for my 9 indoor cats. I live in Venezuela and a similar product here costs me twice as much as Chicken of the Sea even after I factor in the Miami-Venezuela freight. But the best thing is that my finicky cats (they refuse tuna in any kind of oil!) loved the stuff! I may have to “steal” a can for myself one of these days.

Tuna in a can in never going to be as good as fresh tuna or even the kind in the pouch. Unless you are getting that frightfully expensive Spanish tuna in a can which is whole other level fish. This however is well fishy protein. Perfectly fine, and unopened doubles as weapon or game piece for a large checkerboard. just don’t sharpie the edges.

Pictures shown for product state “All Natural, Solid White Albacore Tuna In Water” at a cost of about $4 a can. See photo’s one and two. What they ship is regular ” Solid White Albacore Tuna In Water” not “All Natural” and as you can see in the ingredients it contains chemicals. See photos 3 and 4. You can buy this at the supermarket for about a $1 a can.
