Round brush
Two of the bristles are really hard, like that are glued together. Is this normal? My senior dog without many teeth chews on it and I would think they would hurt her gums. She loves the taste of the paste!

Packing needs to be improved
My dog loves this toothpaste and it works well however my recent order of two tubes both came in tattered and in ripped up boxes , not sure if they shipped out like that or got damaged during shipping.

Yes
I’ve sworn by this toothpaste for my dogs for years. They’re obsessed with the flavor; as long as you’re slowly introducing teeth brushing to them, you’re good to go. This has also greatly helped with their plaque buildup. My oldest will be turning 16 this year, so this is a much safer and cheaper alternative to putting her under anesthesia and getting her teeth cleaned.

He likes it!
We haven’t liked toothbrushing. It’s always been kind of a struggle but I tried this based on other reviews and it’s made all the difference. To be honest, I don’t know how effective it is but what I do know is he likes it so much he’ll let me brush his teeth. He has a ratty horrible old toy that used to be a clown but now is just a chunk of cloth that I throw in the washer once in a while. I keep it because he still loves it. I rub a little toothpaste on it and he chews away and I figure that helps wipe his teeth. I also only use children’s toothbrushes from Dollar tree ($1.25 for 4) and I get a new one every two weeks. I let him chew the dickens out of the old ones and of course put a little toothpaste on there. Again, I figure it’ll scrub on his teeth. No, I don’t let him eat the bristles.

I have used this on and off for some time & at this point I will stay with it.
I have cleaned my dogs teeth every evening since I got her 13 plus years ago. This has been the best product for cleaning but could be better. I would add that dog tooth brushes are pretty useless. I think the little cotton over the finger covers are the best tooth cleaners along with the tooth paste.

Well, I just received it today, so I can’t say how well it works on getting rid of the buildup as of now.What I can say is that my dogs went absolutely crazy over the flavor. They LOVE it. I brushed my dogs teeth which was kind of hard because I haven’t done it before so they aren’t used to it yet. But then I let them kind of lick the brush afterward as a little reward of brushing their teeth lol.I’ll try to update later to inform on how well it works for removing buildup and such after using it for a while.

Hands down the best toothpaste for dogs
This toothpaste is not as easy to find as some others but it is the absolute best for teething dogs to accept tooth brushing (it must really taste like peanut butter because they reach for it before it even gets to them). Dogs continue to accept toothbrushing using this toothpaste so much better than other brands. I worked as a vet tech in a specialty hospital for 10 years and taught people how to begin to brush a dog’s teeth and I always recommended client’s hunt this out. It is what I buy for my dogs. I just got a new rescue kiddo from the shelter and she took to toothbrushing on day one with this and a little patience in learning. (Granted she is a dog eager to please). Love, love, love, and will always recommend. I hope they never stop making it. 10/10. Worth it.

The dog LOVES this toothpaste flavor. She quite willingly tolerates brushing her teeth with either end of the brush, and doesn’t want the flavor experience to stop. It seems to get her teeth nicely clean.But I could live without the smell of this stuff on her breath.Still, it makes brushing the dog’s teeth a 100% positive experience for her, so I’m all in on this product! No more having to chase after her or corner her or hold her down to brush. I like that!

Great dog toothpaste!
My dogs and I LOVE this toothpaste!! My dogs love the flavor and I love how well it works! I do brush the outer surfaces of my dog’s teeth every night and have been doing so since they were puppies. My vet is impressed every time I bring them in because they have either no tarter or minimal tarter. There is nothing about this toothpaste my dogs or I don’t like! Definitely recommend!!

My dogs have been uses this for 2 years. You don’t need to put a lot just a little goes a long way. The taste must be good because they love it. Every night before bed they are waiting next to bathroom door to brush their teeth.this isn’t really designed to take the plaque off it’s designed so they don’t get plaque. Start when they are a pup.

Started brushing my 4 yr old dog’s teeth once a week. He had light tarter. 2nd brushing and see no tarter left. Don’t want to take to vet since last dog I took in for dental had seizures that night and passed away by morning. $700 for a dead dog! Wasn’t happy. Am going to introduce toothbrush (child size, soft bristles) to new puppy to get him used to having his teeth brushed too.

I tried the brush provided and it’s too stiff. I used a human soft brush and it’s amazing how much tartar comes off in such a short time. She’s super excited to get a little taste of that paste so that makes it easier.

My Dog likes the taste
I have been using this tooth paste to brush my dogs teeth for quite a long time. She really likes the flavor and is happy to lick the tooth brush clean after she gets her teeth brushed. The vet suggested brushing her teeth to avoid doing a cleaning at the vet — if possible. So far her teeth are clean and plaque free and look great!

My Sheltie loves this toothpaste! If the brush were softer I would have given 5 stars. He does not mind his teeth brushed at all. He tries to lick all the paste off the brush. He is not a big chewer so this is great for him.

My dog loves this with the little scrubby thing on my finger its an easy nightly activity before he goes to bed. His teeth are getting cleaner too and he really enjoys it. I highly recommend it. Im sure the flavor is great because he sits and waits for it and licks it.

Dogs love the flavor, owner does not like the high price
This toothpaste for dogs has decent flavor. I did some research before buying and this brand was the best. The dogs love it, enjoy licking the brush after, like it’s a treat. NOTE: very important, do NOT use human toothpaste for your dog. REad about this if you don’t believe it. I don’t recall the specifics now but I think some ingredients in human toothpaste are toxic to pets.Only thing I don’t like is how Petrodex jumped on the price gouging bandwagon. I remember when this product was about six and a half dollars and I thought that was high. Good quality product if you need dog toothpaste but I don’t appreciate companies still trying to use covid, or gas prices, or the ukraine war, or some other baloney as another excuse to jack up prices. If our dogs didn’t like this toothpaste so much, which makes the brushing task much easier, I wouldn’t buy this stuff. I feel I’m getting ripped off but what can I do, my dogs love it?

The dogs will drool when the toothpaste is around. The vet recommended the Petrodex Enzymatic Toothpaste and the dogs don’t need to have the vet do the dogs teeth.

It has always been SUCH a struggle to brush my dogs teeth. HOWEVER, this toothpaste seems to be the ticket!! It smells kind of like a nice roasted chicken or turkey LOL. I just brushed my buddy’s teeth with this for the first time. Then I pulled the toothpaste out to take a pic for this review, and he came running! As you can see, he is now voluntarily putting the toothbrush in his mouth which I never dreamed of in a million years. I am a lifetime customer.

I couldn’t wait to use this as our old 8yr old had some stinky breathe and the dental treats weren’t cutting it! Tried the finger at first, slipped off and she almost swallowed it. Switched to the brush and if must be tasty because the next thing I knew bristles were falling out and half of it was missing! We will continue to work on this but I’m not sure it will make it through another try LOL.

I have a five year old dog who has good teeth, but he has some tartar build up from over the years. I give him greenies daily and lots of chews to keep his teeth healthy and clean. When I first got him, I brushed his teeth occasionally, but eventually stopped. Sometimes I hardly have the energy to brush my own teeth everyday, let alone my dog’s, so can you blame me for stopping? After a couple years of no brushing, I decided to get back on the good dog dental hygiene train and ordered another tube of Petrodex Enzymatic Toothpaste. Now with just a short period of semi-regular usage, my dog’s teeth look amazing! I got him when he was one and his teeth look better now at five then they did when I first got him.I’ve been using Petrodex Enzymatic Toothpaste a few times a week for the last month. The toothpaste softened and loosened the tartar that was on his back teeth, and I was able to use a tooth scaler to scrap off the tarter. The tartar came off easily in chunks. I wish I took before and after pictures because the results were fantastic. Granted my dog’s teeth were not in horrible condition, so don’t expect this product to work miracles, but the layer of tartar by his gums on his back teeth are completely gone. I was even able to remove the dark lines on his back teeth by his gums that I thought were his teeth going bad, but it was just deep-set tarter buildup that had darkened.I’ve included a picture showing my dog’s teeth. I’m no dog dental expert, but his teeth look pretty good (for five years old!) if I do say so myself! All the results mentioned above were achieved with only one month of using the toothpaste, so I have no doubt that his teeth will in even better condition with a little more brushing. My dog also loves the taste of the toothpaste, which makes brushing his teeth a breeze. I highly recommend using Petrodex Enzymatic Toothpaste with a tooth scaler for optimal results. If you do decide to use a scaler, be careful so you don’t hurt your dog’s gums and do not press too hard as you may damage the enamel on the teeth. Press down gently, but firmly with the scaler against the tartar. Make sure to brush the teeth again after using the scaler as a final polish.

I’d give it 6 stars if I could
I may have already reviewed this but I wanted to add something. Brought my 7lb. 7 1/2 yr. old Chihuahua to the Vet yesterday for his checkup,tests,and shots. During his exam the Vet that I’ve been using for all my dogs since I moved here in 1993 complimented my dogs teeth. She said “what do you do to keep his teeth so nice. He should be a poster dog for canine dental hygiene”. I told her that I use Petrodex Enzymatic Toothpaste every morning applying it with a small piece of damp gauze bandage. I put a dot or 2 on it and use my index finger to get all around his tiny little teeth. I tried brushes and those things you put on the tip of your finger, what a joke they are when you are cleaning a small dogs mouth. I think even with a larger dog you have more control using the gauze and are less likely to frighten your dog. Anyway, it made me feel real good knowing that the little time I spend every morning is noticed by a pro. I’m sure most of you know how important it is to keep your pets teeth clean as many health related issues can occur if you don’t. Look and see for yourself how important it is. After we left the exam room and I was about to pay the bill she told the 3 staff members that were present “you should see Buddy’s teeth, there is no tarter what so ever ” and at that moment Buddy seemed to sense what she was saying and gave a big smile showing off his little pearly whites. Everyone cracked up and one said ” look at him smile, he knows what we are saying.” Message to all PLEASE spend a minute or so to tend to your pets teeth. You will help keep your friend healthy, save money in the long run, and when your loved one showers you with kisses you won’t have to hold your breath.

Lexi likes it, but….
She does like it, but I don’t really know – how does one? – whether it does a good job. In any case after applying a bit of the toothpaste to a regular human toothbrush, I dip the bristles in baking soda (as recommended) and brush with the mixture. And Lexi likes the mix. There is no discernible scent. Our vet reports that her teeth look good.

It really works!
She loves it! 1st I put a drop on tooth brush and let her lick it off. Then w paste on brush I’ll hold up her side lip and brush. Then let her lick brush and repeat on her other side. Her teeth look beautiful and white! She comes running when I say it’s time to brush her teeth. I withhold water for 30 minutes, and then we go to bed. Easiest product ever! I will never let us run out of this!

My Boston Terrier loves the taste of this and I just ordered another large tube.
Maggie loves the flavor of this and she never minds having her teeth brushed. I use a finger brush with this and the process is easy.One thing bothers me a bit that I had to get used to. This is thinner than human toothpaste. Definitely not a deal breaker.If I were you I’d try this first before any other dog toothpaste.I tried a few before deciding on this one.

doggie loves her toothpaste
I have been using this product on my dog for over 10 years. She is 14 lbs and is 16.5 years old and loves having her teeth cleaned with the poultry flavor. I use a finger brush and it is our night time ritual. Like with humans, clean teeth and healthy gums are critical to good health.

I can’t vouch for the flavor, but my dog certainly enjoys it! He loves his routine of brushing his teeth every night before bed. This doggie toothpaste helps keep his breath smelling fresh and his teeth in good shape (he’s a small, older rescue dog so we need to brush all the teeth we plan on keeping). 😉 The smell is good and it’s easy to use. One tube lasts quite awhile as only a small amount is needed to clean his teeth.
