Cool toy. Shoddy design
Bought this as a gift for my 6 year old. I already had to order a replacement after about 3 days of use. Worked great until today. The wheels on both sides stopped spinning. It’s not like my kid threw it around. This was just from normal use on the floor and hitting the wall and spinning around. So I suppose we will see how round two goes and if that breaks after a day or two then buyer beware. You get what you pay for on this one.

Junk
Went through two of these as a present for my son. Both of them only lasted a few days under normal use. It’s a shame because the Hot Wheels brand should be the best and it’s the only one that charges directly into the car instead of the battery.

Just like buying a new car, worked great up till the last day of returns being accepted. Only 1 side of it works thus it only spins. Daughter very upset, parents equally upset that Hot Wheels would put their name on something like this.

Cheaply made, broke after one week
I gifted this to my son for his 10th birthday. Exactly one week later, it stopped working, even though he had played carefully with it. I had my husband look at it and he said the chip is loose from the soldering…a factor of cheap manufacturing for a toy that’s going to bump into things. A real shame…

Lasted just a couple hours
I’ve had two of these in a row that broke within an hour of playing. Kids were driving it in the back yard in short grass, no impacts, no big jumps, etc. On both of them, the right-side wheels lost power. I can hear the motor turning in response to the controller, but the wheels do not move.Exact same failure on both.On the first one I ordered, I had already thrown away the box, so I can’t return it.

Cheap junk honestly
I’ve had 2 of these for my son. It was a Christmas gift from Santa. The first one stopped working a couple days after Christmas. Only one side wild spin. I noticed a rattle, so I took it apart. One of the microcontrollers for the motor had completely came off the board. So we requested a replacement and sent the 1st one back. Now that the replacement is here, one side will stop working again randomly. This time, the driveshaft has too much play and completely disengages from the gear set. I have to take it apart and align the gears again.This thing is just cheap. I expected more from a name brand. It’s meant for kids to thrash around and can’t even handle driving around inside the house.Do not buy!!

Really cool toy
bought for my toddler son, but both my son and big girl have enjoyed playing with this car. I love the durability it does not break or get damaged despite them running it into all kids of things. Difficult for my toddler to remote control, but he loves chasing it as my daughter maneuvers it.

HARD to control, not fun!
I actually purchased this car for myself. It looked cool and thought it would be great to have since it flips over if you accidentally run it into something like a wall.The vehicle has internal rechargeable batteries which are charged by connecting a usb micro cable to the car and outlet adapter. This is great because you don’t have to purchase any batteries for the car itself. However the cable itself, which is included is very old fashion. They should have made the charging port usb c. The controller does require replaceable batteries, two double A.The controls are not intuitive due to the way the car is designed. You see, each side of the car (left / right) corresponds to one of the two sides of the controller. The left side of the car to the left side of the controller, the right side of the car to the right side of the controller. In order to move the car forward you have to press both sides of the controller forward. To turn you press on side forward and leave the other side alone.This in itself isn’t too bad, however you can never get the car to move in straight line (forward or backwards) due to the way the wheels are attached. The car always moves at an angle instead of a straight line. This makes navigation extra hard.So in the end, I would say this MAY be a great gift for a small child, if you are using this outdoors in a large space since it allows them the space to make mistakes without running into the wall or furniture constantly. However, the remote design, and the way the vehicle operates, is counter intuitive and may be hard for the child to learn. Especially when it goes counter against all other remote controlled cars and even video games.

Great RC car
It is great… good fun… my kids love it.. Very durable… they banged it in several occasions but still works great. Reduced one star since it is not like a proper RC car toy where you can drive them around and in specific directions… little bit hard to control.

Fun to use
Runs good. If you run it full speed into a wall, it won’t last long. It’s not that durable. Just take your thumbs off the controllers and it will stop. Used mine in yard and run it all over the place. Works good no problems.

Fantastic toy minor tweeks needed
Very well strong build rc toy, my kids love it but few minor issues , remote handles are too hard, also not fun on carpeted floor. Apart from that this toy is great and very strong built. My kids bumped it around house , dropped it but still works perfect .Recommended for non carpetted floors.

Worked for a few hours before the gears came disconnected
The gears quickly became disconnected, much to my 4 year Olds dismay. Once both sides became disconnected, the car doesn’t work anymore. Worst toy ever. I am wondering if they did any sort of product testing at all.

Take time to learn the controls
Lots of fun when you get the hang of it! I had to spend a good bit of time getting my kids used to the controls before they were able to play independently. We’ve rammed in into walls a few times with no problems, so pretty durable in my opinion

My son got that as a Xmas gift. He opened, charged it and the chip felt off from inside after an hour of play. Since we did not make the purchase, we have no proof of purchase for warranty claim. The light is still on but the car does not move. He is very sad to own and play this car for 1 hour. 🙁

Sparks joy
My son absolutely loves this Hot Wheels Twist Shifter RC. It’s stood up to quite a bit of punishment and runs like a champ. It’s taken a few tumbles down the stairs without complaint and runs for a good while before needing a recharge. It charges via normal USB which is very nice, not having to mess with battery doors and oddball chargers. All in all, this is a pretty good little RC car.

Supercool super fun
My little one absolutely loves this thing. It’s provided ours an hours of distracted fun. He’s Driven it on the grass on our concrete and on our wooden floors. When it bumps into a wall or a tree or rocks even it kind of flips over it does lots of nice cool stunts jumping and flipping seems to be the most exciting parts of it.The car portion is rechargeable and it does hold a charge for quite some time he’s had it out there for about 2 1/2 hours max it took about an hour and 15 minutes to fully charge it. The remote itself uses batteries which I wish the remote was also chargeable.

Broke after One Use
We have this car as a gift for Christmas and our son was excited to play with it. Out of the box it worked great and did some amazing tricks with the way the wheels could move. But after just a couple of minutes playing with it one side of wheels locked up and wouldn’t move. Thinking that maybe the battery was low out of the box, we explained to our young one that we would charge it overnight and he would be able to play with it the next day. Unfortunately, that wouldn’t be the case. The wheels remained locked. When we contacted Mattel about the warranty, they said they did not have the parts to fix it.I’d stay way from this car.

Did not work out of the box
I purchased two of these for my two boys.One does not work at all. The wheels are caught up and do not spin, they just make a noise like they are trying to move.The second one works intermittently. If the tires turn to far in one direction, you have to wind them back into place.

Didn’t like the quality
So I purchased this for my kid and was very happy when we received it because it looked pretty well and sturdy. On the second day of use, one wheel of the car stopped moving at all.We tried to troubleshoot as we didn’t expect this from a branded toy but it didn’t work and we had to return eventually.I personally do not recommend this.

Poor quality as others have mentioned
This car is absolutely garbage. The front left wheel already stopped working after less than 24 hours of owning it. Many other people have complained about the same issue and I’m returning it for my money back. Huge waste of time and money. My son is disappointed but I’ll use the return money to buy something better and more reliable. I suggest others do the same.

Poor quality, broke within days of using it.
Bought this for my son for Christmas. He was so excited to play with it. After a couple days of use, the wheels on one side stopped working. You can hear it running, but the gears won’t engage. If you are looking to get one for your kid, just don’t.I contacted Martell. They are giving us a full refund.

Fun for a short time
My son had a good time with this until it stopped working after a couple days. The main battery is rechargeable so its nice to get away from single use batteries. However, Mattel (the $5 Billion a year company) didn’t want to do a quality control check and the gear that drives the wheels continually slips out of place. The wheels need to be removed and the side of the car has to be taken apart to push the gear into place. This happens frequently.

Battery Exploded
This was a very exciting gift for my son; however, recently it stopped working out of nowhere. We recharged the batteries for the car, assuming that was the issue, but it it still did not work. We then replied the batteries in the controller. It still did not work. We decided the recharge the car batteries one more time. It did not work. We opened back up the controller to discover the battery had exploded and leaked acid. While he did enjoy using this toy, he certainly did not use it an exceeding amount. I would say it was fairly average use. Clearly the product has a defect. It lasted about 3 weeks. Although we typically love Hot Wheels, we would not recommend this product.

Got it for a six year old on Xmas. He’s super tough on his toys. 2 months later & it still works. That’s 1 month & 29 more days than his average toy life. He’s basically the neighbor kid in Toy Story. Minus the lighters.

Don’t waste your money. Bought two of these as gifts for my grandsons. The first one, right out of the package was defective. The right wheels would not work with the remote. Returned to Amazon for an exchange. The new one came and within a month, both cars had the exact same issue with the right wheels not working. You can hear the motor trying to work, the wheels just won’t move. My grandsons live an a good distance away so they only visit about once a month. These cars have been played with a maximum of 3 times…at most 30 min each time. Disappointed as I expected better quality from Mattel.
