Your baby will love this toy! A great baby’s first toy that they’ll actually react to!
OMG, I cannot day enough great things about this product. My 8 week old loves it and it’s the only toy that he responds to with a smile! It never fails, any time he starts getting fussy we bring this out and he automatically stares at it and smiles! The lights are soothing to him I think and he seems to love the little tunes it plays as well. I also love that it isn’t huge and easily fits in the side pocket of my diaper bag with room for plenty other items. The only thing to note is there is not a volume adjustment and you will have to shake it every 10-15 seconds or so to get it to light and play the music. Since we primarily use this you as an emergency to keep our baby happy when we need him to last just a little longer, we do not mind. He usually is entertained after watching it for a few minutes and calms down. The fact that it’s the only toy that calms down my son and makes him smile would make me pay 3x more than what I paid for it on Amazon! It’s a good price, and I am starting to gift it to my friends and they have found their babies love it too! So far, this toy has been the best bang for my buck!

My daughter loves this toy!
My daughter loves this toy! She is absolutely obsessed with all things Baby Einstein. I would say this octopus is in her top 3 favorite toys. I do think she still likes Baby Einstein’s Takealong Tunes just a little more, but I’m really glad we have this toy too. She likes REALLY catchy and slightly longer-lasting tunes like the takealong tunes features, but since she loves how this octopus lights up, I think it makes sense for us to own both. She also really loves how it lights up in the car in the dark. It has seriously saved us during traffic jams (as she sometimes gets upset when the car comes to a stop). It’s super easy to pack in the diaper bag, and it’s shake feature works great. I do wish it took regular batteries vs. watch batteries (as that always feels like a bit of a pain to me)…..but I would buy this toy again, and I would highly recommend it. It’s worth the money – even if you had to replace it once or twice.

Cute and Safe Toy for a 3-Month Old. Enjoy!
Our granddaughter was born this year on Saint Patrick’s Day. We bought this for her once she is 3 months old. Seeing that this toy has over 7 thousand reviews with an overwhelming majority of 5 star reviews, we are convinced that we made a wise choice. This is a cute little toy that is soft and colorful and age appropriate for a 3 month old.We are happy with this choice and think our little bundle of joy will love this toy too.Enjoy!

Baby favorite
LOVE this little rattle. We were gifted one with our baby, and I bought this one as a gift for a friends baby. Both our kids were obsessed with it for about the whole first year. It lights up and plays a short song when bumped/shaken so the kids loved how much they could control it. And I love it because the song is so short, I’m not stuck listening to something for hours on end. We had it in our diaper bag on every single outing, it was a sure fire way to calm the little ones down. Absolutely worth $10 for that!

Great toy
Got this for my now 4 month old a little while ago. He seems to enjoy the cute face and songs it plays. Small enough to take places and soft enough to have in baby’s car seat with them. Once he’s grabbing things I could see him enjoying interacting with the toy and learning colors. The toy has two sound volumes which is nice and the songs are very pleasant. Would definitely recommend.

Saved my newborn
In 2020 we had our first baby and it was the ONLY thing that calmed him down when he seemed to be crying for no reason. Now that we’re on baby #2 we order another to replace it. Looking forward to seeing if the new baby likes it.Lights up and sings songs- definitely more for the parents to do for the kid as it’s a bit harder to shake

One of our favorite baby toys…
My youngest two children have both had their own jellyfish toy and this is what I can tell you. The toy itself is cute and super durable, with long lasting battery life. However, the company uses button batteries as their battery choice. Not a big deal if you keep an eye on the toy and make sure the backing is never loose, but generally button batteries are a big no-no for kids; especially babies. This toy is bright! With every tap of the toy I’d say the lights and music go for about 10 seconds before needing to be hit again. It has 2 or 3 different tunes it cycles through. This toy probably isn’t the best for the parent / caregiver that is easily overstimulated by sounds as the music is pretty loud. Unfortunately the manufacturer did not make this toy with a button to adjust volume so if you want the toy it’s kinda just something you have to deal with.Over all it’s a cute toy that’s been a huge hit in our house. This toys light also glows red (not shown in review pictures).

A little disappointed
We have several Baby Einstein toys, all of which my son loves! However, the octopus we got seems like it was smashed in its box for too long, and it won’t sit up on its own like you see in the pictures. Ours just topples over. It also only plays a couple songs and says the colors of its tentacles… a little disappointing that it doesn’t do more tbh BUT our son loves it still.

Good, could be great. But good enough to buy an extra for grandparents house
I introduced it to my baby around 1 month. Baby is now 3 months now. Outside is a soft material but the music player/battery pack in the middle of the head makes for a very solid and heavy product. My son doesn’t really play with the toy, at least not yet.Music 5/5 It plays 4 songs I don’t get sick of. Very catchy rhythms that after 2 months I still enjoy and haven’t gotten sick of. BIG PLUS!We play it during tummy time. Baby finds it relaxing so i don’t have to constantly shake a rattle. Lie next to baby, One squeeze of the head, then I play use both hands to play with baby,$15 portable music player. i have an echo dot but this music is quicker and no need to filter.Volume is good. One review said its too soft. I’d argue that it may be too loud for a newborn– Assuming it is designed to be hugged closed to the head/ear. for tummy time right now i never put it next to their head. Just off on the side or even on the couch is loud enough for the baby to hear. I would be comfortable wit it in the baby’s lap or arms as long as not directly next to ear.Colors 2/5 Arms say the color that you push. Seems like a useless feature, except it cuts off the musuc and turns it off. Can be annoying if it is hit on accident. I wish there were unique settings other than 3 langauages.example. Instead of “blue”, the blue cloud could say “Blue Cloud”. Or replace with letters. The colored symbols are useless.Blue cloud, Purple grapes, Brown teddy bear. White Snowflake. Red cherries. Orange Flower. Yellow Star. Green Leaf.random symbols.PLayability – ?/5 Not sure yet. 3 month old hasn’ty engaged. Please excuse typos or lazy formatting. Typed with one hand while holding baby.

Three Languages
Put in my 5-month old great grandson’s Easter basket. He loved the softness and the colors. His mother speaks Spanish and loved that the colors were in three languages – English, Spanish, French. The pronunciation is very clear. Hopefully, he will learn at least the basic colors in all three languages, and it will encourage him to become multi-lingual!

No batteries included?!
Got this great toy for one of my grandchildren but was shocked when my daughter told me it didn’t work, and that she had to go buy batteries for it. Yes, if I had read the small print I might have known that but I am really surprised that a musical toy in particular that’s created for a baby would not come ready to use from such a good brand name otherwise everything is great

My Sons favorite
This plush toy is great! The music stops all meltdowns in their tracks. I know this toy will grow with him with the colors and different languages. The only thing I would change is making another option on the sound pack. My son loves the music but it’s interrupted every time a color is touched. It would be amazing if the colors could be turned off and the main head touch point can remain on.

Quit working after a few months. Waste of money.
This is the ONE thing I bought my baby that I think was a waste of money. Despite it being pricey, I ordered anyway bc I thought the glowing & music would be fun for my baby. I thought it was great at first, my baby loved it. I think we got it around 2-3m & my baby enjoyed it for a couple months. It stopped working. We kept it around the house but with no function my baby stopped playing with it & now that he’s older it never gets touched at all. Would have been worth it had it lasted longer.

Miss
I’ve loved most things from Baby Einstein but this is a miss for me. My baby loves a lot of his other musical or interactive plush toys more and when you press the BROWN color on the leg it clearly says BLUE. This will confuse my baby when he reaches the stage of learning colors. I’ve seen several other similar complaints about color flaws. He doesn’t hate the toy but it seldomly draws his attention for more then a minute. I wish the interactive feature wasn’t flawed so bad and new batteries didn’t help. We just got this in.. :(Note: There is a trick for this one where you can push the head once and the brown will say brown.. Not blue, but it only works 1 time.. Then if you press again it says BLUE. You shouldn’t have to press the head for it to register just one time and so it’s really flawed.Check this when you get it in and send it back if it’s not a convenience. We kept it but it’s quite a disappointnent and I hope that Amazon will check there inventory so that others don’t experience this. Also Amazon went up on there price by $5. This is a smaller plush toy and not very interactive. It’s a lot smaller then Scout puppy and the Fisher Price Learning Puppy. My baby is crazy about both of those and they were both about $13.99 and super interactive. This is a better size for small hands but it’s not worth $14.88 in my opinion. The only interaction is learning colors when pressing the legs and you hear tunes when pressing the head. The volume is also really low.

Perfect for 3 month old!
This is perfect for my grand daughter! She is in the early stages of learning to reach and grasp at 3 and 1/2 months old. We’ve purchased several of this type of hanging toys for her but this has been, by far, the BEST! It hangs at the perfect length for her little arms. She is able to hook her fingers into both the red circle and the key ring. She is able to grab his arms and she remains interested in this for a long time. She also has deep and meaningful conversations with it-she coos, smiles and gurgles. We have hooked this to her bouncer activity bar, her floor activity bar, her crib rail and her travel lite crib (on the canopy). Other hanging activity toys don’t hold her attention (at least at this age), don’t have enough to ‘do’ and all seem to be too short and then we have to add stuff to make them hang lower. This is not the case with this toy and she (and WE) love it!

Disappointing
It is incredibly difficult to make sing or light up. It’s a baby’s toy, a rattle no less, but you can’t just shake it with normal force to activate it. More often than not we have to hit it in order to make it work.

Eh. Kind of Intense…
This octopus is cute, but he’s wild…The buttons are really easy to push, which is great for babies, but not great for ear drums because…The volume has two settings, but the lowest is still really loud. And while the classical music is nice, at that volume it couldn’t be accused of being peaceful. The songs change every time you press the face, so if your baby is poking around on it (as babies do) it’s going to sound like the worst DJ you’ve ever heard.Ultimately, I think it’s kind of a lot for a baby. And definitely a lot for everyone else in the house.

Favorite for 5-month old
Saw this gifted at a coworkers baby shower and decided to buy one to have at G’mas house for my 5-month old grand. It’s a hit! First toy she reaches for. The music and lights get her attention, and she’s able to grab it and grasp for a good taste. Best $10 I’ve spent on her so far! I’m partial to this toy manufacturer- my youngest daughter had several Baby Einstein toys, and was humming classical music by the time she was 3. Love anything that teaches through play – music or reading – so couldn’t pass this one up!

Take it from a French mom: the French audio isn’t bad at all!
I write this review mainly to respond to some people’s concern that the French audio doesn’t sound like actual French.Well, I am not sure if these reviewers are talking about the same version of the toy, but our octoplush speaks French well enough, especially for a baby. Yes, it is muffled at times, as the English and Spanish audio recordings are, because that’s what they are: recordings. But that has nothing to do with the accent! I am sure that the French audio doesn’t sound any worse for a French person than the English would sound to an American. Of course, it doesn’t sound like a French person, because it is a toy, but IT SOUNDS JUST LIKE A FRENCH TOY WOULD! Take it from a person who was born in France, spend the first 25 years of her life in France, studied and earned a PhD in Paris, and not from people who ‘learned a little French back in high school, never went to France but knows for sure the accent is bad’. Actually my family who spent all their lives in France feel the same and love this toy, too.So if what holds you back from getting this toy is the fact that you are not sure if your baby will be able to learn foreign words for colors, don’t be afraid and get it!Please note however that I am talking about our unit (which makes our daughter very happy) that we acquired about 6 months ago, which may or may not be different than the first version; I don’t know if they improved the toy ever since the first reviews claiming that the French is horrible were written, but the newest version is fine with us!

Soft and Plush, Appropriate For Under One-Year Old, Up To Four or Five, and a Fun Scholastic Teaching Tool
The Baby Einstein Octoplush was another birthday gift for my one-year grandson. It is a soft plush octopus and upon hugging or pressing the head, it plays pretty music. The velour legs have round colorful, satin patches designating a different color and a corresponding object, (red cherries, blue sky). Each leg will announce both the color and the object as each of the eight legs are lightly pressed, and the switch inside the battery compartment selects a different language, a choice of English, French, and Spanish. There are two sound volumes and an off switch, and for the adult, all the switches and power are easy to access within the closed compartment. My daughter-in-law states that she likes the Octoplush; the music is NOT too loud and actually enjoyable. This toy is professionally finished with nice even stitching, and no loose hanging threads. She was pleased that the Octoplush does NOT have the unpleasant smell of any fire retardant or other nasty odor.My grandson has had the Octoplush for four months and it is still one of his favorites, he understands the head plays music and it is very easy for him to him to press and operate. He holds the Octoplush and sways to the music in adorable dancing movements. This is a child-friendly educational toy, but due to my grandson’s young age, he does not intentionally use the language buttons on the legs. However, as he gets a little older, and understands more words, the Octoplush will provide some scholastic teaching as a fun learning tool.

Great quality but some cons..
It’s a great product, I must start saying. I bought this before my baby was born, now she’s almost 2 months and for stimulating her senses (as the pedriatician encouraged us) is awesome! Since she’s still too little, and obviously can’t hold it for herself, I hold it at around 40 cms from her and push it to play the music : it plays music when you push either the eyes or the mouth. The tentacles are just a voice that says the colors indicated. She would look at it very still and even tried to touch it! :)Now the cons:- Must agree with other customers about the batteries: they last nothing! It came with a pair of 2AA and I barely tried it when I received it, and put it away till my baby was born. I just started using it and it already was failing to play music because of the batteries! So I don’t know if they just put whatever brand batteries or it is an original failure or what… so i put on some new sony batteries, let’s see if they work better and longer…- Must agree about the head: it is too heavy so the octopus never stands by itself like the picture shows, it actually always falls to a side, but i believe this is not so important since most of time i think this is a toy a kid would be holding , not puting awayOther than that I must say the music is great and relaxing and stimulating for babies, (not for sleep though), you can regulate volume on the back and also the thing about the languages is great! I don’t agree with some other customer that said it wasn’t clear. I’m a native spanish speaker and english is my second language, I also know a little french and I think I have the right to say the words (colors) are very well spelled and they’re very clear also in the three languages. It is great for kids, I wanted my baby to learn about other languages very early and I’m totally sure it will work.If you asked me, I would recommend it. It is cheap, good material and with basic stuff little babies will love. 🙂

Cute, Soft, perfect size for baby
Shipped with cardboard bonnet to protect head of octopus. Its soft and the colors are bold. Love that there are 10 tunes it plays. One thing I don’t like is there is no way to stop a tune from playing. Pressing the head just starts the next tune, and the next. You just have to have the tune play to stop.

Nothing special!
This is cute, my son likes it, he likes the different things that hang down as it gives him different options to grab or chew. I don’t think they hang very low though, and the stitching has a lot of leftover string sticking out, worried about him choking or if I cut it it coming unthreaded.

Good price, So-so quality
Inexpensive, quality is just so so, not superb, not too poor either. It’s easy to fall to the back when sited due to the head is too heavy with battery inside. For this price, with the features, material and made, there is really not too much to complain.

Fantastic Baby Toy
I wouldn’t say it’s “easy to clean” because the music box is attached, so you have to wipe it all down by hand. However it does make a wonderful gift. My baby loved it – loves Opus. They like to chew on the ribbons, tags, and his tie. They also like scratching the eyes, which are embroidered. We all enjoy the music.

Cute fun toy for mommy and baby.
I purchased this baby Einstein Octopus musical plush for my best friends baby. I personally think it’s adorable and fits perfectly if you’re theme for the baby is nautical. It speaks 3 languages with a switch on the battery pack and has a volume control on it which I think is an amazing feature to have. The Octopus plays multiple songs when you press its head and has press points on each tenticle to tell you which color they are pressing. My friend loves it as well. The baby hasn’t arrived yet to give his feedback but I’m sure he will love it as well.

Toy Shaker
I bought this toy for my 10 month old daughter. She loves anything that plays music, and a lot of her stuff is ocean themed, so I was very excited about this toy. When the toy came in the mail I was incredibly disappointed. The sound box was defective and sounded like something out of a scary movie. I was hopeful that this one just happened to be defective, so I followed the easy steps to have a replacement issued. The replacement arrived within 4 days of dropping off the original toy and the replacement works perfectly. The light and music comes on for about 5 seconds every time it is shaken, which keeps my daughter very busy. She loves it and I am glad I got a replacement instead of simply returning it.

Perfect baby toy!
My daughter (7 months when she received this toy) loves toys that light up and play music. This thing is very sensitive so it’s one of her absolute favorites!! She doesn’t have to figure out buttons or touching a specific point. Literally any motion at all with this toy will set it off.(To that end, I recommend you don’t store it in your kid’s bedroom. They are definitely going to leave it lying on the floor and you are definitely going to step on it and the sudden cheerful music and colorful lights are definitely going to wake up the baby.)I wish we’d found this toy sooner as it can be given to a much younger baby but we’ve had it for a month now and she’s played with it every single day. I don’t think she has any other toys that even come close to that! I’ve read other reviews about the batteries but we’ve had zero issues and honestly, my kid likes this thing enough that I’ll gladly buy her new batteries if and when these wear out.

Misleading on what it does.
A total waste of money, it says eight colors and that’s it. Half the time it doesn’t even do that! I start buying for Christmas in Oct.- Nov. and can’t even return it now, so I’m stuck with it. My granddaughter didn’t get it until Jan 1st (when we got to get together) Very disappointed with this product.
