Perfect Primer

It works

A Wonderful Primer

Who knew?
I reviewed several primers that appeared in ‘might be interested in’ link- I was but decided to look at E.L.F. ELF’s facial primer makes so much difference in the smoothness of my facial skin with or without makeup. I noticed the change to my skin with the first application and I love it. I have sensitive skin, so went light on the first application, no problem. No smell, love it and it helps me feel better about my skin!

If you can get beyond the smell, this works wonderfully. It sort of has the smell of “Vics”. I works so well that I did reorder it though. It prepares your face with such a smooth, moisturizing surface for your foundation. It even works nicely if you don’t add foundation, but the foundation just glides on so nicely.

Unsure at this time

I WAS SO OPTIMISTIC, AND THIS PRIMER BROKE MY HEART
I despise this primer with every fiber of my being. I have genuine, deeply rooted hatred for it. I never could have imagined a $3 primer could bring this level of emotion out of a person. Let me paint the picture.The most recent primer I have been using is the “NYX Studio Perfect Photo Loving Primer” and I have absolutely loved it. BUT, instead of just reordering that one when I started running low, I decided to try the “e.l.f. Mineral Infused Primer”. The high overall customer rating and so many positive customer reviews combined with price were big motivators for me to give it a shot. I’ve been a fan of and never let down by any e.l.f. product I’ve tried. Following that logic, this was a sure thing. e.l.f is consistent like that. Maybe it would be a new favorite, maybe not, but worst case I wasn’t gonna end up being mad at it.I was so very very wrong. And all you positive reviewers out there, this is your fault. I trusted you and your starts. How could you? Even after exfoliating and doing my typical skin care prepping routine, the e.l.f Primer left my skin feeling and looking very dry, rough, and patchy, in places that defy rhyme or reason. My skin tends to be more oily than dry naturally, so dry skin is not of the battles I usually fight. I followed my routine and applied my usual skin care products, the e.l.f. primer, and the makeup products I use just like I normally do. The primer was the only thing that was changed. I dont even understand how what happend to my face could actually be as bad as it was without some sort of sinister other worldly influence. It defies logic. Not only did my skin look dehydrated, like the skin of a 70 year old life long smoker who tanned way too much in their younger days with only baby oil and hadn’t had a sip of water in ever. I had visible rough and flaky patches even from a few feet away. I know this because people kept pointing it out to me. Along with the dry skin, there several areas, especially around my nose, but also random spots all over my face, that I can only describe as flat out refusing and rejecting any product tried applying. It wasnt just that I did not, but that I in fact could not achieve anything even close to something might be vaguely considered even coverage, or even just not leprosy, regardless of the product type or application technique I used. It gets worse. In other areas, I had the extreme opposite going on. They would grab and fiercely, almost territorially hold onto all that passed over them, or were even just nearby, and would then refused to let go of any of it, like a hoarder or Mr. Crabs. Every attempt at blending with any degree off success was not only impossible, but also seemed to anger the spot and make the problem exponentially worse. For me, this was confirmation that supernatural forces were indeed behind what this primer, how it was performing, and what it was doing to me, and they were not benign.As a final desperate attempt to fix the issues I was having and just get this makeup finished, I tried a last ditch hail mary, the only steps I hadn’t tried that might save this. First, to just try and improve the look of my skin and makeup, I started by dimming the lighting in my Bathroom to the lowest setting possible. Next, I removed my contacts. For the last step, after checking and already noticing how much better I looked, I left the bathroom and avoided mirrors, glass, water, any reflective surface of any sort really, for the rest of the day except for the few occasions I had to check in to see how long the makeup was lasting. Thankfully, those steps really seemed to take care of the problems I was having.The only thing left was to see how long the primer would keep my makeup looking “fresh” and “in place”(s). Usually my makeup lasts all day, looks like I just applied it for most of it, and by the end of the day still looks pretty good, even without using a setting spray. My makeup after using this primer was, shocker, about as opposite to that as it could be. Which, at this point it wearing off quickly could only be seen as a blessing, a show of mercy, and was welcomed. e.l.f. products overall provide such affordable options for people who dont want to, or cant afford to, spend a ton of money. With the exception of this Primer, which could have only been created down in the deepest most evil depths of hell, then shipped for free within a few for Prime Members, I have never been disappointed in an e.l.f. product I’ve used. I usually feel like I’m actually pulling a fast one on the company because of how little I pay for something I really end up loving and would pay more for. This primer is very inexpenisve, which is so my jam, but even the few dollars I paid was way too much. I could have put that money to better use, like just lighting it on fire. That would actually feel like less of a waste to me and a better investment than the despair Amazon delivered to me. That’s saying something because in all honesty, I’m notoriously cheap, ridiculously so, almost to a cartoonish degree, and that is such a better option to me.There are so many FAR better performing primers out there that are close to the price of this one. Do not waste your money and buy this bottle of lies, broken promises, and sadness, even though I do really like the packaging. If you dont want to, or cant, spend a little extra, which I get, the best choice i would recommend is use nothing. The results would be dramatically better, not just how your makeup turns out, but also, and more importantly, your vastly improved mental state, stability, and overall well being. Saving yourself from ever having to battle against Satan’s Serum… Priceless

Good substitute
I used to use the Elf hydrate and prep stick, but this is a decent substitute. I feel like the stick lasted a lot longer than this and I really miss the stick, but this works well enough. It makes my skin feel a lot better after I apply make up as opposed to when I don’t use it

Wow!!!
I had seen a similar product on a television show and thought I’d give it a try. Holy smokes this glides on so smooth and evens out your skin tone perfectly. A little dusting of powder and I was good to go. And it last a good long while. I have combination skin so some spots are horribly oily and this controlled the shine on my t-zone (forehead, nose, chin) and looked great throughout the day. All the money I’ve wasted on makeup and this comes along and me and my wallet are totally happy!

Perfect primer but the pump is HORRIBLE!!

POSITIVES:The primer corrects my pores, my imperfections like discoloration, leaves my skin super soft and luminous without looking sparkly or greasy. It really is the perfect primer (so far). I can count on it to leave it a perfect canvas so that makeup doesn’t pill up and glides on without tugging and it lasts. It adds a layer of moisture without being heavy. It is so soothing and like my skin actually craves it.I have seen previous complaints when people used this on a clean face with no other skincare products. One must prepare their face with those products or this won’t spread correctly, you may need to use too much because it is being absorbed when your face needs the moisture, it may feel greasy because it is just sitting on top of your skin because there is nothing in between, or your skin is patchy from not being taken care of properly. It does feel slightly slick especially at first but then it dries and feels soft. To me that was a big draw because makeup didn’t settle in uneven places or get thick or pill or ball up because the area wasn’t being dried out. I didn’t feel like I was wearing paste or clay. It is extremely light. It gave me a healthy glow like I was lit within with no sparkle or dewy shine that can be bad for acne prone or oily skin. This is perfect for skin with issues. It helps my concealer go on without getting thick or cakey around the under eye folds and small creases. When makeup gathers in creases, even tiny ones, it just emphasizes them and makes them stand out. This helps everything blend in so they are not noticeable. If I’m having a puffy eye day or dark circles, this helps bring that down and calm the area. I also like to wear it with my skincare without foundation or powder and just a little concealer because it really is that good. The other products I’ve used and the order I use them in matters.I have super sensitive allergy prone skin that likes to react and turn red or get hives so this is one that I have not reacted to and if I’m already in a reaction it helps tone it down and soothe my skin.NEGATIVES:Now, for the bad part. Nobody likes pointing out the bad things, at least I don’t but I wanted to let people know a few things. The pump dispenser is HORRIBLE!! Like, almost non-existent, it is that bad!! Please see my video. It has a very short little nub that is supposed to pump out all the product down to the bottom of the jar. It used to be the packaging was misleading and it was not filled all the way down and had a wider chamber inside. People had complained on here that it didn’t fill the container so maybe the company found out and listened. That little nub tube still didn’t reach all the product even when it was a shorter chamber and they didn’t correct the issue with it.Now they have the tube of product go all the way down (much skinnier inner chamber of product than the outside package would have you believe) but there is no way to get it out after the first 2 or 3 uses without jamming a q-tip down in it because there is no tube connected to the pump to go down in there to retrieve the product. It is such an easy fix and they have had the same pump for ages now.I’d think with the complaints sprinkled in about it on here that they have had over the years they would have upgraded it by now. My guess is they have not gotten enough complaints directly to their company and people aren’t checking the packaging to find out what is really going on. I think people are just replacing it without realizing there is a bunch of product they can’t get out and not paying attention how long it’s been since the last time they ordered, or just switching to something else altogether out of frustration.I’m only knocking down a couple stars because the pump is such a complete fail. They would do much better putting it in a squeezable tube. We could actually get the product out, it would be cleaner than a pot, and we could see how much product we have left. Definitely a Steal!
I have been a huge fan or Urban Decay primers for many years, but this primer definitely made me a convert to ELF. I ordered this bc I rarely wear makeup and just wanted something cheap to help my makeup last through a wedding we were going to. I put the primer and my makeup on around d 1pm, then went to an outdoor wedding in the middle of June with 80 degree temps. Not only did my makeup hold all night, but it still looked perfect the next morning after I slept on it. I very rarely go to bed with my makeup on, but was really impressed that it lasted through heat and dancing at wedding AND 8 hours of sleep. It was easy to apply, velvety smooth, and kept my dry patches from showing. Two thumbs up!! I would highly recommend and definitely repurchase.P.s. I have very sensitive and dry skin, and this product gave me no issue!

Doesn’t last very long, bad pump
The primer is great but it didn’t last as long as I thought. The pump doesn’t reach all the way down, a little less than half. Besides that the primer spreads easily, the scent isn’t bad, and actually didn’t cause any damage to my skin.

As good as the high end brands
I’m sold on this primer!! I had a coupon for an expensive, high end brand. It was verynice, but there was very little in the bottle for the astronomical price!! I read other reviews on the ELF primer, and already being a fan of a couple of their product, figured I’d give it a try. I was pleasantly surprised!! It felt and covered exactly like the expensive brand, cost way, way less AND has more product in their bottle!! And of course cruelty free!!

Yes it covers the pores and can cause breakouts if you don’t clean it away properly. But other than that, it prepped my face super well for makeup I could clearly see the airbrushed look. I had a few pimples after, I wouldn’t use it for all-day makeup – may be just for a quick evening

Like velvet and works amazingly well
It is totally worth the price just to experience the way it feels going on. Turns your skin into velvet. It’s so cool. My skin is sensitive and I’ve had no reactions or break outs. It is so good, I just use this and don’t need powder over my foundation. Love this stuff. Will order more.Update: Still love this stuff. No kidding, just the experience in the morning of having my old skin turn to velvet is the best. I even tried it on my husband as he gave me his, “What the heck are you doing to me,” face. I didn’t tell him what would happen. As he rubbed it on his cheek he said, “What!!!? That is crazy!” I’ve found that as I use this, I don’t even need foundation, just blush. Just ordered two more.

Got a complement first time using!
I never used a primer before, but I got “influenced” by this cutie on Facebook (and I’m sure other social media, but I’m only on facebook). Darn you Robert Welsh lol! Anyway, my friend’s daughter works at Sephora. I put this stuff on under my other makeup and went to my friend’s house for a party. Literally almost the first thing her daughter said to me was: “Oh I didn’t know you were into makeup! I have some products you should try!” I’m totally stunned she noticed such a difference immediately, took that as a huge complement. Also, it feels like silk on my skin, it’s so smooth and slippy, it feels like I bought something so fancy, but the price is really low. Can’t beat that, will keep using. Oh ps, I have very sensitive, acne-prone skin, this didn’t irritate or make me break out, awesome.

I am sixty-seven years old. I had no idea that a primer even existed. I was getting discouraged because my makeup never looked smooth. I have dark circles under my eyes and liver spots. I have Lupus. I don’t have the scars that are often associated with Lupus. I do have the butterfly rash that comes and goes. I was/am spending a small fortune on Lancôme. The feeling of my skin after I apply this product is soft, not waxy. When I Then apply my powder foundation it goes on so smoothly and evenly. A great product and not overly pricey.

GREAT Color Correcting Primer!!
This elf primer is great for making my skin look less wrinkley and evening out any discoloration. I’m 69 and started using a primer years ago called “Blur” that worked great, but disappeared from the stores. Then I found elf’s primers that I also love. But this is my favorite!! Try it, you’ll see!
