Amazing torture device to kill the pain
First off I have a severe form of fibromyalgia along with spinal stenosis, degenerative disk disease and pinched nerves. My pain level at times is unbearable…worse than my emergency c-section that I had no pain control for and delivered unmedicated.I really like the blue color and the fact that it is a mat and a pillow. On the inside is a foam. The outside, well, it seems painful. When I opened the box this was wrapped in plastic. I carefully opened it and lightly touched the hard white pointed plastic points. Wow! Did I really just order a torture device?I talked my hubby into trying it first without his shirt on. Immediate pain like a million needles poking into you at once. Let me mention my hubby was on the couch for extra cushioning. No amount of extra cushioning will ease this. However he stayed on it. Within a few minutes the pain started easing and he felt a warmth on his back. He described this feeling like Icy Hot cream on your back. Another few minutes pass and he says he feels his muscles relaxing. He tells me this should help me a lot since he never has much pain. He gets off and I look at his back. Ouch that looks painful.I decide to wait until close to bedtime and use this on our bed. After removing my clothes I carefully lay on this midieval torture device. My first thought was “This feels like a cruel joke an a real torture device.” I consider getting up but decide to try for a few minutes. Soon the painful plastic points feel less painful and I feel a gentle warmth start. Interesting. So I am laying on this with the pillow under my neck. The neck pillow does not hurt as bad. I decide to wait a while. I feel increasing warmth and secretly wonder if I am starting to bleed and die and this contraption.I stay a while longer. I suddenly start feeling weird things happening to my muscles in my lower back. I will try to explain. My muscles feel like tightly pulled string. It felt like strings were slowly started to pull apart. Almost like water balloons popping. I felt more warmth and a little pain. Now I know from experience I get stiff when laying down. So here I am alone wondering how I can get up without hurting myself. I slowly start moving. WAIT A MINUTE!!!!! Where did my constant companion go to? I did not feel stiff and I felt less pain than I had in years. I checked the mat to make sure I had not gotten cut. I was good.I wish this mat was bigger, maybe a whole body length as I hurt head to toe. I do not yet have the courage to lay it on the floor to try it that way. Can this be made to have the points retract for getting on and off easier? My husband comes back and does my night time massage. He can not believe how loose my muscles felt…especially in my lower back. Needless to say I slept better than I have in a long time.Be careful touching this. I can imagine they could possibly cut. I will wait a week or so to use this on the floor. If your pain is bad, use it on your couch or bed until you can tolerate this weird feeling more. This is a helpful product that I am glad I bought. I really wish it came with a storage bag for when it is not in use. This will definitely be used every day.

Use with a shirt UNTIL you get used to it, and watch your fingers when transporting, but worth it!!
The plastic bits are sharp and can be painful, no joke!! I immediately noticed the pain when I accidentally touched them just taking the thing out of the package, which was a scary start for sure! But, seeing all the positive reviews, I figured I was just being a bit of a baby, and so I set it up and went shirtless for my very first try… ouch! It was not pleasant the first time, and my initial reaction was, “I gotta return these!” However, my girlfriend decided to also try right after me, but she did so with a shirt on and thought the mat felt kinda nice. So, after giving my back some time to recover from the sharp shock, I decided to give it another go but with a shirt on this time, and let me tell you it was a world of difference and actually pleasurable that second time! I thought maybe this CAN work?! I’ve since used this mat many times, still wearing a shirt as I haven’t dared to try again without yet, but have found it extremely relaxing, so much so that I actually fell asleep on it for about 20 minutes one time! The one thing I would suggest, and which I did, is to order two of the half mats rather than a large if you’re considering the large for full body coverage; the reason being that for slightly more in cost, you get a second pillow, and two half mats that you can position however you want. I personally position the two half mats in a T pattern to really get good coverage on the full length of my back but then also across my shoulders; and instead of using either pillow for my head (I use a softer neck pillow for support instead), I position one pillow in the small of my back, which feels amazing, and the other I let my feet/ankles roll around or rest on. In the end, I can say all the positive reviews were right, this does do a good job for relaxation, so long as you can get over the initial shock of awkward pain!

For those who always carry tension
This is a review specifically for people who carry a lot of tension in their bodies, like I do. Please note–speak with your doctor before using an acupressure mat, especially if you have a chronic condition. While most people in these reviews are saying “Don’t listen to other people, it doesn’t hurt,” it needs to be said that if you are perpetually tense or tender in any areas, it will hurt initially. Paradoxically, those are the areas that can most benefit from acupressure. Some tips for use:1. Consider not starting with your bare skin when first using the mat.2. Resist shifting around as that will only prolong the time it takes to get accustomed to the sensations of the spikes.3. Begin with a manageable amount of time, like 10 minutes, instead of going for the full 20-30 minutes right away.4. Drink plenty of water following use.5. If you experience nausea following use, which some people do, consider using anti-nausea wrist bands. These have been very helpful for me.6. Try to focus on your breathing; in through the nose, out through the mouth.7. If the mat is just too painful to use, stop and seek your doctor’s advice.

Great Acupressure Mat and Pillow Set
So far I am really liking this acupressure mat and pillow set. I got the XL size which is pretty much full body size. I had never used anything like this before, but deal with chronic pain (and have a high pain tolerance) so I figured I’d give it a shot. I got some relief/relaxation in my muscles the first time I tried it, and this may sound crazy but the 2nd time I actually fell asleep on the mat! I’m still trying to figure out how to best get on and off the mat as the poking feels more uncomfortable when pressure is unevenly applied while getting on/off vs while using it when it’s more consistently applied – I think if I had bought the large size instead of the XL size that would be easier, but I do like the full length size. Sometimes I use the pillow just for my neck or my feet as I have more pain in those areas and I really like the sensation on both those areas.I bought the gray/white and the color is more of a taupe color than a true gray – see pics on a light gray and a warm brown background. It’s still a nice, neutral color, but was off from the picture and what I expected so I wanted to point out in case anyone is particular about that with gray.

Actually helped my back pain
Okay, I hardly ever write reviews but I wanted to write this one for other people who suffer from back pain. I’ve had upper back pain since I was a teenager due to being gifted a large chest. So I always got that stinging, achy feeling around my shoulder blades and neck. Fibromyalgia runs in my family, so that on top of just having two Big Ol’ Obnoxious Tiddies means it was rare for me not to feel pain. I used ibprofen and muscle relaxers occasionally, but didn’t want to rely on them. I actually love accupuncture, but I couldn’t afford it all the time. So I decided to finally buy one of these mats. I bought it April 12th 2023, and today is June 12th and honestly, I have hardly been in pain these last couple of months. There are still things that might set off my pain (like sitting hunched over for hours working on a project) but my day to day pain has decreased significantly. I haven’t taken muscle relaxers in a couple months, and now I only take ibuprofen rarely. I use this mat 20-25 minutes in the morning, and 20-25 right before bed. I got used to it pretty quickly, and use it without a shirt on. It doesn’t hurt in the way you think it would. It’s more like a sunburn, but not as painful. You would think the last thing you would want to do if you have pain, is lay on a spike mat, but it works. I call it my torture device (in a loving way). It’s worth the $30 dollars to try it out and see if it works for you because it made all the difference for me.

Like curling up with a hedgehog and finding it surprisingly comfortable. Not just hype
When I saw the reviews for this I thought “no way 6,000 people can love this crazy hedgehog mat,” but the reviews made it sound like just what I needed. My muscles tend to hurt and cramp up when I get my back adjusted and my spine is very much in need of correction and I’m just so tired of back pain, neck pain, pain period. My first thought when I opened it was “so I just wasted $20, this is really sharp” but I decided to try it because I already had it. I laid it on the floor with clothes on and had to get up every minute or two because my kids were being needy and fussy and it was just downright awful. I hurt more and I was grouchy. So I rolled it up in a pillowcase and put it up to maybe try another time, appreciating the fact that getting up and down was NOT how I was supposed to do this and I’m not supposed to go straight to the floor. That was a week ago. Today I came home from the chiropractor having used their roller table and my lower back hurting. It started to feel a little better I decided to stretch my lower back like I’m supposed to and after a minute or two I realized that the muscles in my lower back were starting to spasm and I was going to have a veeeerry bad night. Like watching a train wreck there’s nothing you can really do, right? But then I thought of that mad little mat and thought, this is what I got if for, right? My husband was going to the store but I asked him to wait and watch the kids for just 10 minutes. I laid it on the bed, put a small flat pillow under the lower back area, and went bare backed, intending to recant and put a sheet or two on top if I needed to. My first thought was… wait, this doesn’t hurt, it’s just mildly uncomfortable. Shocking but great news! It only hurt when I moved around, but it was still uncomfortable at first, (tip: don’t wiggle or move your arms or hold up your phone, just lay there, I went ahead and lifted and re-laid a part of my body a few times when my wiggling made a few points feel sharp). After 5 minutes I thought… hey, this feels good. Like really good. What?! But it does. It felt a little like a back scratch and a little like a back rub, as though a little wave was running down my back from the top to the bottom every few seconds. I liked it! A lot! And when I had to get up at the 10 min mark my lower back didn’t hurt anymore or feel spastic! It felt like it was thinking about being slightly crampy for about 10 minutes after I got up and then settled out to be just slightly sore but totally functional. I think if I could have stayed on longer it would have been all better, but honestly just for that one result it was worth the twenty bucks, since that spasm would likely have laid me out for tonight and kept bothering me for days afterwards. I’m going to try it again after the kids go to bed and do it longer :D. I think this mat does more than just overwhelm the pain receptors because my neck and hips (neither of which fit on the mat with my back) both still hurt, but in between (my back) I felt so much better! Laying on the mat didn’t even hurt much to start with, sort of like curling up with a hedgehog and finding it surprisingly tolerable… and then comfortable. It really helped me and I immediately called my Dad and told him about it too. I finally understand the concept of a bed of nails and although it sounds crazy I’m SO glad I bought it. It’s a great little hedgehog mat. Just be careful when you unwrap it the first time and don’t leave it out where kids will get into it because it’s sort of like a pineapple on your hands. I didn’t like the pillow the first time I tried it (you know, when I did it all wrong ;)), but I think I’m going to give it another try. The only thing I wish was that it had little ties to keep it rolled up around the pillow, but I can honestly just sew a little bit of rope on it and have my wish so no complaints here. I hope it works as well for you as it does for me, even with only 10 minutes! I wish I had two now so that I can do it from neck to heels. Saying that might make it sound like my head needs to be checked, but at least my back doesn’t 🙂

It Works-Great for Varied Pain Types
I have multiple injuries: some secondary and have had chronic pain for over ten years. This mat is surprisingly helpful. It really relieves tension in the muscles well. It also helps with all over nerve pain due to long term chronic pain.It took about four sessions to really start to feel it but my body had a lot of tension all over from various injuries. It is hard for th first couple minutes but so worth it after about ten once you feel tension released. I sometime rock back and forth for my lower back where I have the worst combined pain. This releases the inner knots near my spine.Highly recommend as this is affordable and works!

hurts so good
this thing is so weird but i love it! it hurts like the devil for about 5 seconds while you lay down and get adjusted, then you can’t even feel it anymore until you go to get up. leaves a bunch of cool red dots all over you. i haven’t been doing it regularly like i did when i first got it, but it definitely makes my muscles not feel as tight when i use it like i should. great addition to yoga and the chiropractor for back, neck, and joint pain. just wish it had a carrying bag or something to tie it up with for easy travel and storage

SO FAR SO GOOD.
Not sure yet how much it works but I am trying it. At first it feels like a bed of nails but after a few minutes it’s OK. At first I laid it on the bed and cover with sheet now I just lay on it. It doe make me relax. When watching TV I put my bare feet on the pillow. Again hurts at first but I got use to it. I have sciatica so I try everything for relief. Sometimes I think it helps and others I don’t feel it. This is an honest review but don’t know if it will help you.

You get accustomed it is AMAZING
I have had lower back pain most of my life and this has been the only thing I have found that really works. When I first tried it, it was painful, I could only stay on it for 1 minute or so before it burned too much. But if you keep trying to force yourself to stay on it a bit longer each time you try it you get used to it and now it does not hurt me AT ALL anymore, and instead just feels good! I use it every night for 10-20 minutes and I definitely notice a difference, my back pain is so much less now! On days I don’t use it I can feel a clear difference, my back is more achey and it cracks more. Especially after walking or standing a lot my back usually hurts, so now I bring this on vacation with me and I usually don’t have trouble with back pain now. I highly recommend!

What in the miraculous voodoo is this!?
First of all, I was a little freaked out by all the reviews saying this product, “hurt.” It does not hurt, at least not to me. In fact, I fell asleep on it. My husband had some questions, given that I found it quite comfortable and soothing, and he felt the opposite, but that’s another story for another day!I don’t know exactly how it works, but it relaxed me almost instantly. Again, no pain, but a warm, calming feeling came over me. I immediately wanted to go to sleep while on it. Once I was off of it, I felt good and had more energy. Again, I don’t know what kind of magic is in this, but it does seem to relieve pain and stress. You can actually feel it leaving your body.. I’m sold!

Painfully Relaxing
Mixed feelings about this … it’s great and also so, so painful! I really do think it relaxes you, and for several days I found myself looking forward to my time on it because of the blissed out feeling. However, you have to push through about 10 minutes of pretty intense discomfort. I go on spells where I use it a lot and then not at all for several weeks. You could start with a thin shirt to make it easier. When I wear a shirt I barely feel it. My husband was super skeptical, and complained constantly for the first 10 minutes. Around minute 11 he said, “Actually this is pretty relaxing.” And one second later, he was snoring. He’s a terrible sleeper and it put him right out.

This thing is awesome!
Recommend by a client for restless leg syndrome. She swears by it! I don’t have that but I have lots of knots and tightness in my back from weightlifting and this little gem has been so great! I usually lay on it for 20-30 minutes, it feels so relaxing when I get off. I don’t know exactly how it works, but my back is so much looser!

LOVE THIS CRAZY THING
I read the reviews before purchasing, and they were incredibly helpful about what to expect. Yes it hurts to lay down on it at first, but that’s what your body needs to send the blood to the pain points. The pain subsides quickly.I started at 5 minutes, then 10 and now I can lay on the mat for a full 15. My chronic neck pain is relieved for a day or two after each session. My mood is better, and my ability to focus has improved. Can’t believe how this somewhat Medieval device has improved my life!

Good quality
I’m still trying to ease my way on my mat. But if you follow the directions and do your own research on how to use these types of mats properly, then you’ll be just fine It does take time to get used to it, but so worth it.

Doesn’t hurt if you have clothes on!
I got this mat as a present for Mother’s Day. My mom is always crouched over during work so I thought this would soothe her back when she gets home at night. It definitely hurts to the touch and also if you are not wearing any clothes but with clothes on or a layer of fabric between, it definitely is a bearable pain. After getting over the initial pain, it does start to feel really comfortable. The mat itself isn’t quite long to where it is full body, I’d say it’s the length from your shoulders to your butt. Although, I got it for my mom, my dad also uses it quite often with the neck mat as well. I would definitely recommend getting it just to try it out and see for yourself!

Best $27.80 I ever spent at Amazon!
I use this product almost every night before I go to bed. I lay on it for about 20 minutes while I read my Kindle until I’m about to fall asleep. If I’ve had a normal stressful day I lay on it in my nightgown. If I’ve had an extraordinarily stressful day, I lay on it without my nightgown. If you use it bare skin, then it is quite intense for about five minutes to the point of being painful. But if you work through the pain, it eventually feels amazing. This product guarantees a great night sleep for me. On nights that I have tried not to use it I always can tell a difference.

Was like a therapist on my livingroom floor
Okay, i have owned this thing for like 0.1% of a day & its already done more for me than a good therapy session. let me explain, so the first time i used it, i used as pictured, laid on the mat & put the pillow under my neck & shoulders. however, i carry stress & tension in my lower back/sacral area. so i placed the pillow under my hips & put my feet together & spread my knees. OH MY GOSH. when i tell you it was “poking” all the right places, y’all, i cried a little, not even trying to funny. i felt such pure joy & did NOT want to get up. i laid there for a solid 45 min. it was amazing. i’m obsessed with this thing.

It works!
I have long had muscles issues in my neck and shoulders from a car accident. Nothing really helped except for this beautiful little torture mat. :). It’s definitely not comfortable to start but once it starts to work….pure bliss. I started with a shirt on to get used to it and then switched to bare skin to get the full impact. It relieved my misery and if the cramping in my neck or shoulders comes back, this will take care of it. If you have sore muscles, do yourself a favor and try this out.

Love it!
I do wish it had a storage bag. If you’re not paying attention you can stab yourself when you pick it up. And I wish it didn’t have the strip in the middle without spikes. I don’t use it in a chair, so I don’t need that. None of those are dealbreakers though. It’s helped my back and neck pain. It’s a bit fiddly to get on and off, but worth the effort.

Large Isnt Large (But I Still Recommend)
Update: Even though I have issues with the misleading description (see below), I highly recommend this. I am raising it from a 2 to a 4 out of 5 stars from my previous review. I’ve used it once a day for the past several days and I can already tell a difference. I will say that when I laid on it with a thin shirt the first time, I thought “I don’t get it…what are people going on about this thing?” The next day I tried lifting my shirt up a bit to test this on my lower back…what a difference. The heat and tingling feeling everyone was talking about! Since then, I’ve been laying on it bare and I think that is the way to get the best results (at least in my experience). It does hurt, not gonna lie, but I feel like if you get past 5 minutes you are good. I am very hopeful to see continued benefits from daily use (I am currently doing the minimum 10 minutes a day, focusing on my lower back which is a problem area for me).I haven’t used this yet, but it was delivered today and I wanted to review based on the size. In the photos, there is a regular size and large size. However, the sizes for the actual item are large and extra large. This is misleading…I thought I was ordering the large full-body size as depicted in the photos but received the smaller one. I am still hopeful that this will help with back pain, but I wanted to inform potential buyers of the misleading item description.

Pain Bed! Pain Bed!
My partner let me try theirs out when I was staying over and I thought it was insane. LAYING ON SPIKES.But over the months I’ve been thinking about it ‘cos they’re on it daily and at least mention it now and again. I have some weird back problems from abusing my body at work and sitting like Gollum at my computer at home. So I finally broke down and ordered this’n. As soon as it arrived I laid it out on the floor and spent 20 minutes laying on it. You totally feel the stabs when you ease onto it and it can be a li’l uncomfy.. But like. After five or so minutes that fades into the warmth everyone talks about. :)I did it again on my bed for 40 minutes before sleep. If you tie your hair back tight for long periods of time; when you let your hair down, and the skin hurts ‘cos it’s been shoved into position all day? It kinda feels like that. For those with short/no hair, it kinda feels like the day after you get a sunburn. Your skin feels like it’s gonna be hard, tender and painful. But it’s soft and if you have any lotion or oil, I will rub that on and it helps immediately soothe any soreness. AFTER that soreness, and even during! I feel more loose than I have in years. I told my partner my back feels more ‘gooey’. And it’s the best.YES it does make your skin look like an NFL football’s surface. But ough. it feels good. I’d like to try working on other parts of the body as advertised in the li’l pamphlet that came with. 🙂

For Anyone On The Fence
A little background. After years of terribly poor posture, damage from years of being a dancer, as well as recently turning 30 my back has seen a fair share of abuse. I wouldn’t say I am in daily back pain or to the point normally where it prevents me from doing daily tasks but there are days which I wake up or go to sleep significantly uncomfortable. In the past I usually convinced myself to just go to sleep and haven’t been able to justify dropping money on a massage or a chiropractor. So naturally I started looking in the dangerous but glorious world of Amazon.Fast forward in my searches I came across this spiky mat and was instantly intrigued. Many reviews were glowing and after rifling through then I decided why not. It was less than $30 and on the chance it helps soothed my back pain I’d gladly fork over a little more than an overpriced city burger meal. The mat arrived quickly and can used right out of the box. It did initially look a little daunting with the three prong spikes sticking up like satanic legos. I ending up ignoring my better judgment to lay the mat down on a soft surface or lay down first with a shirt on to cushion the initial sting. I may or may not recommend this to you. Point first: The spikes do hurt. I would not recommend for someone with sensitive skin or extremely low pain tolerance especially to do bare skin. But like many reviews have mentioned after a few minutes there is a warming sensation that honestly feels really great. The daily pain in your back from sitting in your car too long or at your desk actually becomes duller and eventually you forget the bed of plastic nails you’re laying out (unless you shuffle or press yourself down). It comes with an equally poky pillow. I haven’t yet figured out how to comfortably lay on it but once you find a groove it too, is great after a few minutes. I had a throbbing headache one time I laid down and I kid you not I actually felt the pain disappear.I would give the product a whole hearted 5/5 which includes the price point that I believe is more than reasonable. The mat seems to be good quality and folds up nicely on itself if you don’t want to leave a porcupine on your floor to step on in the middle of the night. I haven’t had any quality issues, tears, or breaks. I have used it multiple times with a shirt and without. No issues as of yet and I don’t foresee any.Even the cat seems to like it and has taken to lay on top of the soft side (I put the spikes down for this very reason when storing) if that influences your decision.Quality: 5/5Shipment Speed: 5/5 (I do have Amazon Prime)Product Effectiveness: 5/5Price: 5/5Verdict: BUY

This acupressure mat definitely overwhelms the nerve receptors, which causes an increase of blood flow and temporary relief of pain. However, the effects are short-term. After using the product daily for severalweeks, my chronic shoulder still feels about the same as before.

Wow. 30 minutes after using it and I am impressed.
My back has bothered my for many, many years. Usually my hip and my mid back but the tightness works it way from my hamstrings, glutes, lower back, all the way up to just under my shoulders. Sitting can be painful and uncomfortable because of how tight my back is.I did the full 20 minutes (one can actually go up to 45 minutes). The first 5 minutes were rough. Felt like I was sliding a bit and it hurt. A lot. I waited it out and for the next 5ish minutes it just felt really uncomfortable but I did feel the warming sensation I read about. The final ten minutes I started to feel sleepy and really started to think I could fall asleep on it. Don’t get me wrong, it didn’t feel like a I was laying on 20,000 dollar mattress made for kings, but my head just got sleepy and relaxed and my back was almost not feeling uncomfortable. Just warm. Hot almost. At 20 minutes I carefully sat up and took a look at my back. It was insane looking. My partner was shocked and you could easily see how much blood had rushed to the area. For the next few minutes it still felt kind of weird and when I stretched my back I could feel all of the little holes stretching. It’s been about 30-40 minutes since I got off of it and I’m AMAZED at how loose my back is feeling. It hasn’t felt this loose in years. I was able to touch the ground with my knuckles easily.I recommend to not use a shirt because I could barely feel it with the shirt. I did it on my carpeted floor not on a couch or anything. I tried doing some of the other ways like sitting on a chair or sitting up on the ground for my hamstrings and it really didn’t apply enough pressure unless I sat on it naked which I did not like so will not be trying again. I think I will raise it up a bit next time so I can get more of my shoulders involved (I had placed it just below my shoulders so I could get more of my lower back involved).TLDR peopleIN SUMMARY,My back hasn’t felt this loose in many years. I definitely feel relaxed both in my mind and my back. I’m super excited to use it again. Just make sure to make peace with the pain for the first 5 minutes and don’t move around on it. After the first few minutes it starts to feel better and is SOOOO worth the ease of pain you’ll feel once you hit 20 minutes and get off of it.

Amazing
Yes it hurts at first. But it is so relaxing once you get past it. Another must on the homestead. My kids even use it before bed. They actually fight over getting turns.

It does help for temporary tension and pain relief
It does help for temporary tension and pain relief. I believe that it helps by increasing blood flow into the area that you use it on. I would say the tension and pain was relieved for a couple of hours. Then simply reapply.

Works great but needs to get used to
Works as expected. Well made with solid plastic needles and odorless material. It does feel a bit painful mainly on your neck area (and any sensitive areas). But overall its still a great product because it works in relieving back and neck pain. I haven’t used it recently but i did when i was suffering and it definitely did the job. I use a thin cloth on neck area to help reduce the pain while using it – and it still helps.

Surprisingly neat
Like you, I went in with hesitations. I haven’t used it EVERY day but I’ve used it probably two or three times a week now totaling over 15 times. Now I know that might not sound like a lot but I have yet to NOT fall asleep on this. Every – single – time… I pass out by minute 12. It is quite uncomfortable on the first few minutes but as you breath into it, your back gets nice and warm and you just kind of melt over the spikes.

Torture mat/life saver
It hurts. I lay on bare skin to get the full effect. I lay with my knees bent so I can control the pressure and lift up and reposition when the pain gets to be too much. This position is also nice cuz when I lift up I can also rotate to lay more on the sides of my back. This thing is TRULY a lifesaver.

So far, so good
I received my mat a few days ago and have used it a couple of times. The spikes (very much like “soft” cleats on golf shoes) are quite sharp and I had to recline pretty gently the first time but the second time was easier. I’ve had acupressure and acupuncture (for my back and neck) before so I had an idea of what to expect. The pain relief is gradual but noticeable. If the progress continues, I won’t have to visit the chiropractor right away and will save myself $60. Fingers crossed that the pain and stiffness keep receding.

Title: A Difficult Experience with Mixed Results
I recently purchased the ProsourceFit Ki Acupressure Mat and Pillow Set, hoping to find relief for my back and neck pain as well as promote muscle relaxation. The product’s natural linen material and the concept of acupressure therapy initially drew me in. However, after trying it out, I have found it quite challenging to use consistently, particularly due to the discomfort caused by the headpiece. The mat and pillow set is well-made and visually appealing. The 100% natural linen material is a great touch, making it feel high-quality and environmentally friendly. However, the real challenge began when I tried to use the acupressure mat and pillow set for the first time. The thousands of acupressure points on the mat and pillow are meant to stimulate blood flow and promote relaxation. Unfortunately, I found the sensation to be extremely painful, particularly on the headpiece. It was difficult for me to relax and find a comfortable position, which made it hard to use the product consistently as recommended.I tried using the set for a few minutes each day, hoping that my body would eventually adjust to the acupressure points and I would begin to experience the promised benefits. However, even after several attempts, I found it challenging to use the headpiece consistently due to the discomfort it caused. As a result, I am unable to definitively say whether or not the product works as intended for pain relief and muscle relaxation. In conclusion, while the ProsourceFit Ki Acupressure Mat and Pillow Set may work for some individuals, my experience was unfortunately marred by the discomfort and pain I experienced, particularly with the headpiece. If you’re considering trying this product, please be aware that it may be difficult to use consistently and may not provide the immediate relief you are seeking.

Clearly evil but extremely effective
Update March 2020: My love of Spikeo (affectionate name for this inanimate object) is known through all my friends, and over time many have tried it. At least 4 of my friends who have tried mine ending up buying one. Even people who think it looks terrifying have found it remarkably soothing. One thing: About a year into my relationship with Spikeo I bought another one to live at my parent’s house for when I have longer visits over the holidays. The new one was SO sharp — turns out that with daily use, the spikes get slightly dull over time. Eventually I felt like my original wasn’t packing the same punch, so bought a new one for myself about 18 months after the original purchase. My new one is gray, which is actually quite pretty and a little less garish. I would advise everyone to get new spikes every couple years or so if you want that signature OUCH with your pain relief.Original review:I have fibromyalgia and have spent hundreds of dollars on various pain remedies throughout the years. Most things haven’t really helped, including physical therapy — the only thing that would provide relief was Tylenol and scalding hot showers. This mat appears to be invented by a sadist and it definitely HURTS, but with regular use my pain has become much, much better. It also helps relieve pain when it happens, but I’ve found it to be more useful in reducing pain generally rather than addressing a particular pain spot.My best evidence of its effectiveness is that I get extremely thirsty after massages and the same thing happens when I lie on the mat for 20-40 minutes. I don’t know what the thirst means (a quick Google says something about the lymphatic system?) but I take it as a sign that this mat actually does something for my knotted-up muscles.I love the mat so much that I made the following meme. I hope it helps in your decision on whether to purchase this.

This has been in my cart for Months, but I never got it. It seemed unnecessary. But I wish I had indulged before now. Wow. The hype is real. The first minute or two laying on it ‘Ow! What have I done?! This sucks!’ Then the shift happens, and it’s just relaxing. Tension melts away, pain melts away. It’s great.

I have the worst spine in the world and this helped me
I was born with a severely deformed spine. Not only was it curved in to an “S” it was also twisted and leaned forward. I have had multiple surgeries to correct it since childhood but that has left me with a LOT of scar tissue and some horrible chronic pain. Not much touches the pain at all. Even opiates stop working after a short time so I quit taking any of them. Now I’m 40 and my back has betrayed me again with two crushed discs in my lumbar spine and one in my neck. And I have two sciatic nerves that flare up daily. It’s very depressing and makes life hard. This mat, after only 24 hours, gave me relief. I did two short sessions (10 min with a sheet covering it, 15 min in a t-shirt) and then a few hours later I did two more sessions (10 min with a sheet, then 10 min bare skin to spikes). After the last session with my bare skin exposed to the spikes I noticed a huge difference. I was nearly pain free for 5 hours. I was able to fall asleep immediately. I also woke up feeling like a human and I was able to get out of bed without involuntarily groaning. So, does it hurt? Oh gosh yes! It hurts like heck to lay bare skinned on this thing. But I’m used to pain and it was the kind of pain I could stop at any time so it wasn’t a big deal.If you have chronic pain I highly recommend trying this. I have no idea why it works and I do not care. I was a full on sceptic thinking this was just another lying advertisment but I’m glad I was wrong. I’d pay double for this, heck I’d pay it a hundred times over and more just to get out of pain.If you’re looking for something else for back pain on here then I suggest trying some Theraworx foam. The bone and joint one and the muscle pain one actually work too. And it’s not a menthol type product, it’s actual medicine. Haven’t found anything else that helps.

So far, I’m impressed! Sleep was so much better
I saw an ad for a mat like this and was intrigued. My back, neck and knee have been troublesome for a long time and while chiropractic and weight loss have made a difference, I have still been struggling with pain and sleep difficulties. But the advertised mat was over $100 and I know how hard it is to get a refund from companies that advertise on Facebook and Instagram, so I checked out what was available on Amazon. This product was the least expensive and looked pretty comparable.I tried it for the first time last evening. Ouch! When I first laid down on it (on the floor) it was prickly but within a minute or two, I found myself relaxing in a way I haven’t been able to. I nearly fell asleep there on the floor! I then used it to sit on while watching a tv show, with my feet on the prickly pillow. Then, before bedtime, I laid the mat on my bed and read for 20 minutes while lying on it (no pillow). I felt super sleepy and relaxed, put the mat away and fell asleep easily. I have been waking up 3 or 4 times a night for years. I only woke up once last night!I will come back to update my review in a few weeks. I am hopeful.

Used this on my back and the pillow on my neck/back of my head. My back actually felt warm after about thirty minutes. The pillow was harder to get used to but working on adding time using it. I would not used either when sleeping. Happy it came with a booklet showing how and length of time to use it

Call me crazy, but I think it works!
These kinds of mats are a bit weird to get the hang of using, but after a few uses it becomes easier to breathe through. I only use this against my bare back because I feel like it does not work as well through fabric, but I usually use it laying on a softer surface like a bed or couch. At first, it really hurts and feels like torture, but after about 5-10 minutes I feel like it really helps release the tension in my muscles. I have gotten so used to it that I now lay on this for 20-30 minutes at a time and it has become really relaxing.I don’t use the neck pillow because I don’t really have problem areas in my neck and I find it to be uncomfortable. You do need to be careful to lay back and sit up slowly or it really burns. I don’t think this would help at all with anything but muscle pain, but when I get tension from sitting all day at work this does really help relieve the pain.I have also gotten in the hang of sitting on this during long car rides and I feel like it helps with the restlessness my legs start to feel. Also, the quality of these mats seems really solid! I have been using this for years now with no noticeable wear or tear. I love it!

Incredible Back Pain Relief! TRY IT!
This product is the miracle I have been searching for. I have had chronic back pain for 10 years. Herniated disks in my lower back, nerve pain, sciatic pain, SI joint pain, hips and pelvic pain from pregnancies, severe muscle spasms, ribs out of alignment….you name it I have been dealing with it non stop. I have tried physical therapy which didn’t work, and I have been on way too many pain meds and muscle relaxers just to function. Even then I was in so much pain 24/7. I’m 39, but I felt like I have been living in a 90 year old body.Enter this little torcher device. This mat of 3,000 little spikes feels as scary as it looks. I laid on it for the first time without a shirt and my brain immediately panicked because the pain/pressure/burning sensation was too intense. I had read previous reviews that mentioned this so I breathed through it for the next minute or so. After that, the intense pain begins to decrease and a hot burning sensation intensifies. You can feel the blood rushing to the area and you can feel your brian trying to interpret these unfamiliar sensations. Is it pain? Is it pressure?? Am I dying? It’s an interesting experience to see your body figure it out. At the 8 minute mark the pain continues to diminish and you get very relaxed. By 10 minutes you feel like you’re in almost a nirvana state, even though there is still a lot of discomfort. Rolling off the mat is pretty uncomfortable although it’s manageable. Your back will be all red and you will see 3000 little dimple indentions from the points. It’s kind of itchy afterwards for a few minutes but that all goes away shortly. Here’s the crazy part. From the very first time I did this, my back pain has been virtually gone. All of it. The pain relief lasts almost a full day, so I do it once in the morning and again in the evening when I start to feel discomfort start to set back in. The only explanation I can think of is that it resets your body’s pain receptors or disrupts their normal pathways to the brain or something. I’m not a doctor but I can tell something was shifted in my brains perception of pain signals.Although it’s an uncomfortable 20 minutes out of my day, IT IS WORTH IT. I feel great the rest of the day and my whole outlook on life has improved. Living in chronic pain is a difficult experience and I am so thankful to have found something that helps get me off the pain meds and brings me much needed relief.

Gives great relief but won’t solve all of your problems
Are you looking for a pain relief product that won’t break the bank? Get this mat. Do you get good pain relief from acupuncture or acupressure but don’t feel like shelling out the $150+ per session for short lived pain relief? Get this mat. Don’t know what to get your friend or family member who has chronic pain? Get them this mat. Don’t have pain but want to find something to help your muscles relax after a workout? Get this mat. Do you have anxiety or PTSD? Get this mat.I have severe chronic pain in my entire body due to a degenerative bone disease and nothing will ever fix my body and eliminate all my pain. I’ve had 22+ years of surgeries, medications, injections, and various other procedures/therapies that prove that. However, I do get good short term relief from acupuncture which I have to pay $150 for each session. I thought I might as well try one of these mats because they are inexpensive and have good reviews so, at best, I could stop paying out the ass for acupuncture or, at worst, get a supplemental therapy to add to my regimen. Thankfully, the best case scenario won out and, in addition to helping with my chronic pain, it also helps me to calm down and get my anxiety/emotions in check.Tips for usage:You do need to work yourself up to being on the mat for longer periods of time and then without a shirt on because it can be incredibly intense when you first start using it. My preferred way of using it is to lay on the floor, using the pillow tilted a little to get into my neck more, and have my legs up on the couch or ottoman. If it’s hard on your body to get on and off the floor, put the mat and pillow on your bed or couch. If you do that, I recommend putting your knees/feet on several pillows to deepen the intensity of the pressure and prevent your hips from hurting from being stretched out too long.On the rare occasion that it’s just my neck that hurts, I’ll use the pillow when I’m sitting or laying down on the couch. Or if I need lumbar support and pain relief, I’ll stick the pillow on my lower back while either sitting upright or laying down. These products are very versatile in how you can use them and what you can use them for. And as long as you go into it with the knowledge that it’s not going to fix your problems but rather be a good tool in your chronic pain toolkit, it’s an easy choice to make and I thus give it a 10/10.

Not as painful as I was expecting
I don’t know if chronic pain has just made my pain threshold too high, but I really wanted the sharp, burning feeling other people describe and haven’t gotten it. Which isn’t to say that the mat isn’t good, because it is. It helps a little bit with pain relief, and it doesn’t have any bad qualities. For the $13 I paid (on sale and used), worth it.I tried the mat on the floor a few times and on the bed the rest and settled on using the bed. There’s not much of a difference in terms of how much it hurts or helps, but lying on the floor is hard for my back, especially when it comes to getting up and down.I also took the pillow foam out of the mat for your neck and put a flat piece of foam in instead, and I use that for travel purposes, which is great, and it can target pain areas with more precision and strength when I’m not traveling. If you’re thinking “I’ll never use this pillow thing,” give that a try.

Feels incredible
I must have a high pain tolerance, because I can’t at all say that this thing felt like torture. I first tried it by laying on my hardwood floor, using the mat for my back and the pillow for my neck. I can’t say what anyone else’s experience will be like, but mine went similar to others after a few minutes. I was not wearing a shirt of any kind for this and initially when I laid down, I felt the spikes dig in but it wasn’t anything terribly painful. Mildly uncomfortable but not bad. My body got used to the sensation pretty quickly and within a few short minutes, I started feeling that “burning” everyone feels. It’s very similar to (if not the same feeling as) when you use muscle rub cream or a patch. Just that icy-burn feeling, but not as intense. I could lay on this thing all day if life would let me. I got up from the mat and my back was so red and had little indents in it from every little spike. Sitting up off of the mat was easy and I can say it provides some relief for whatever you might be feeling! You can even use it on your legs, which I found soothing.

I had never heard of one of these mats before. I saw a friend had one and decided to buy it. I have constant, neck, shoulder and upper back pain.It feels amazing laying on the little spikes. I’m obsessed. It shows that “LARGE SIZE” fits whole body, but that is not true. “LARGE” is actually “normal”.

Those of you in 24/7 agony, the magic in these spikes is REAL!!!
1. Yes, these are SHARP2. NEVER scoot across them3. If you live alone & your mobility is limited I’d go so far as to say, don’t put it on the floor & lie down4. I use it in a recliner or a straight back chair I tip back to a wall with a footstool depending upon how much pressure I want.5. I recommend you gingerly begin in a soft chair until you get the hang of your tolerance.6. Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate!!! This does something of a system flush & I’ve learned to keep water very nearby the rest of the day as I’ll easily go through a liter + and feel EXTREMELY thirsty the rest of the day.7. 32 years of parenting has taught me well that being unclothed is always when someone will set off the smoke alarm or some other ridiculous thing that seriously compromises my sanity, lol. However, it does do its best work on very thin material (like scrubs) or bare skin.8. Work up to the thin layers & bare skin!9. Unless you are very mobile (unlikely for many in enough pain to need this) again, you do NOT want to scrape across this, probably skip the floor!10. Sweet mother! The roll makes feet happy, migraine head & neck happier, lumbar suckfest improved at least for awhile. Holy hallelujah!11. When you first realize what this will do for your hurty parts, you will be tempted to get back on it, shortly thereafter with less & less between you. Remember there IS such a thing as too much. So do this carefully.12. If you didn’t pay attention to 11, your skin is probably somewhat inflamed & a bit red. That will go away in a couple days. To me it wasn’t painful, the additional inflammation just reminded me to stay off it a few days.13. Now that I’ve had it a few weeks I’m pretty attuned to my skins tolerance time & I still LOVE IT!14. I have stage IV Autoimmune Rheumatoid Disease. Every joint in my body showed damage 10 years ago because my treatment was delayed several years & I didn’t know any better. My tendons & ligaments are trying to function for my bones & joints. My muscles are trying to function for my tendons & ligaments. RA damage is irreversible. My pain level on average is between a 6-10 with NSAIDs & pain meds. Just within the time frame of the few weeks I’ve had this, I’ve been able to reduce pain relieving medication by 50%! Sometimes I can get down to about a 4 if I don’t try doing anything. I am waking up more mornings without my back arched or my feet flexed (no I have no clue how I sleep like that) but I do feel more rested most mornings!15. If you live with chronic pain, you WANT this!

Nice massage
Bought this to help with minor back pain. It looks scary when you touch with fingers, and wear clothes that cover all of your back. It helps. I bought one for my 73 year old dad for his neck and back pain from arthritis, and he LOVES it. He uses it every day. I wish it had a case with it so when done you can roll up and store. That’s the only thing I don’t like. I have to roll it up and it doesn’t stay closed and I’d like to tuck it neatly away.
