Yelling, tears, and therapy not included
If you grew up playing Risk as a kid then youll be familiar with the obligatory debates regarding rules of play. This is similar but added rules and strategies add to the points of order to argue over. Learning to play this version with my 10 yo son sounded good in theory until my husband (who is the worst example of sportsman-like conduct known to man) opened the game by looking at our son and screaming “prepare to die.”What followed in the next 3 rounds was my son getting kicked out of Mordor, his armies in Gondor decimated, and the ring was left forgotten at Brandywine Bridge.Needless to say we didn’t finish. But all in all a good first experience.10/10 would recommend to a friend.

Worth it!
I got this and love it, with a few tweaks from the original game of risk everything is themed towards Lord of The Rings from the troops to the map it is 10/10. The price is a little high but is definitely worth it!

Not for a collectors, this is reproduction… :{ A BAD ONE.
Happy to received it in great condition. Will love to play it in my future days to come. The price was okay but keep reading if you dare to…(. .), i love Risk A Lot and LOTR Trilogy Edition is My HOLY GRAIL of Holy Grails. However, as soon i open it up… there was no… …. …. golden light shining from it. Just my heart melting thru my bones and skin… teardrops teardrops… of this of point mint… The little nerd in me said “sorry bro. But that not what it should look like. What did you do?”…All games to side i have a copy of the Vanilla OG Version, but it the Non-Trilogy Edition. So i had my sister send me a picture of what the inside originally look like. So you can see the difference in care. The map is great, love it…The cards and dice are great, no problem…Love packing of the precious…Rule book is okay, i am not a book person… so yeah…But pieces themselves, don’t feel smooth and the colors are bit more faded when comparing to pieces from other Risk games and i have over 10 different copies and edition. The boxes that they came is look like a treasure chest on something like that, but so. Who ask for a box to keep them in and the 1st place… not me.Please Hasbro Gaming, please… LAYOFF ALL THE PEOPLE WHO WORK ON THIS VERSION AND HIRE SOME CRACKHEADS WHO KNOW NOTHING ABOUT CARE AND RISK AND LORD OF THE RINGS. Then calle this version the mistake edition, no caps.No joking this this time, don’t fire anybody please don’t i was just joking around on that. However, please recreate a better version of the classical game and please put more loving care into it. Please. I am just one nerd… but there are more. Nerds buy what are made for nerds. And this is a golden opportunity to make us happy. [Ideas likes] add the other different type of races (elves, dwarfs, dragons, hobbits), larger map (more of the east)… just go creative with it please. And thanks for all of your time. Play Safely.

Absolutely love it.
Just like the original, with one set of armies changed from black to gray, but that’s fine. It really is, IMHO, one of the better Risk clones out there.I bought the game for the pieces, which are substantial, well sculpted and a good quality plastic. I couldn’t ask for more.

Game Wasn’t Missing Pieces, But Box Was Damaged
Came damaged as it was not sent in a cushioned box. No parts were missing but the box was bent in all four corners. The box was even crinkled/bent by the corners.

I love the classic Risk game. As a diehard LOTR fan, this just takes it to a whole new level.

Complicated, but fun
It has a bit of a learning curve as it’s far more complicated and unpredictable than regular Risk, but once you get a couple of games in, it’s fun, challenging, frustrating when the dice and cards work against you, and overall a great board game. The board, pieces, dice, and cards are quality, and the overall delivery is true to the LOTR saga.

Nostalgia at its finest.
My boyfriend and I watch The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings trilogies fairly often and one night we remembered playing this version of risk when we were kids.I was so excited to find it on Amazon. It was the best price and of course best shipping. When I got it, I was so happy to see that it was just as I remembered.

Childhood Game
I used to play this when I was a kid. Some things are different. The black army is grey, the ring is not as authentic as before, looks like a 25 cent ring, some discoloration throughout, and the pieces are assorted by cardboard no longer plastic. Still gives me the nostalgia I was looking for. Will keep an eye out for a more official “copy” of the iconic risk game.

This is by far my favorite Risk board game. It’s so much fun… my kids thoroughly enjoyed playing it during our family board game nights!

Damaged and Dirty
This is my second attempt at reviewing this, so it will be short and to the point. The game was dirty and scuffed. Do not buy if you care about things like that. This is not ‘gift’ material. Avoid.

Box was damaged
The box came damaged which is disappointing. I take good care of my things so I am not happy with the box already looking worn out the first day I have it.

Quality is low especially for the price
As someone who owned the original risk lord of the rings game I am unbelievably disappointed at the quality of everything. The box I received was damaged and the packaging of the playing pieces is a thin cardboard and not likely to last a long and the ring they provided looks like it was cast by a drunk 2 year old. I’m sure the game will still be fun but I can’t get past the quality difference especially for $50

Very Low Quality
This is not worth $50.It is not like the original. It does not have the nice plastic holder. Everything just floats around in the box. The ring is crudely made and has rough spots. Unacceptable for the price. The game arrived with a lot of damage and appeared to be a used item. The other items it was shipped with were in perfect condition, so it was damaged before being shipping.

Best version of Risk
I have had this version of Risk for 20 years and is easily my favorite. The map is well designed (and what’s not to love about Middle-Earth?). Strongholds and leaders make for really interesting and challenging game-play. It is absolutely worth the price and not just a collection piece.

One Board Game to Tule Them All: Perhaps the best board gam ever?
A bit of a learning curve but ended up being the best board game experience ever for me. Pop on some Lord of the Rings music and you’ll feel like you are in the movies as the game unfolds. Patience really pays off with this one! By the end it often ends up being an epic battle near Mordor to give Frodo a chance to destroy the Ring!!

Best version of the classic game
Quit invading Poland and invade the Shire instead! The ring moves closer to Mordor with every turn. This gives the game a timer that makes it tolerable. It cannot go on forever. Other fun variations make this a great game.

Item Came Used and Damaged TWICE
Ordered the game board and the box and cards were showing wear already. Box had a dent and tear. Some cards were already missing colour.I ordered a replacement and the box came worse and the cards were worse.Amazon emailed me saying that I returned the game board damaged and not in its original condition. Considering the game board was already damaged and that was why I ordered a replacement, it made buying this not worth it.The game is fun and has a slight learning curve for the LOTR part.

It’s Risk
If you like Risk then you will like this. I like the board and the containers for the armies. I think the special rule is a fun idea but I don’t know that it adds anything special.

Not quite but great none the less.
The colors of the battalions are a little bit lower quality but other than that it’s practically a brand new board game. New box smell and everything.

Not bad
Your standard risk with a couple of twists and a middle earth theme. My only major complaint is that they didn’t personalize the armies instead making them all generic good/evil.

Brand New and So Excited!
I was worried from previous reviews, but the 2 I bought arrived within 2 weeks, were sealed, brand new, undamaged, and we are already having a lot of fun. After 10 years of looking for this game online to buy, I am so glad we found it here (about $60 if including shipping and taxes).

Fun!! If you love risk you will like this, but be prepared for learning time. Has some different rules and I reccomend watching a video on how to play.
