    Perfect for the DIY’er

I am a DYI’er and when my neighbor broke out his new oscillating tool I knew I had to have one. His is a Milwaukee he paid a fair price for, but he uses it a lot. Me, I do not anticipate using this as often as he does his. While this tool is not an end to all of your challenges, it does have it’s place in your tool chest and makes a nice addition which at some point will be just what you are looking for.Anyway, “Amzn” had a daily deal and I scored this for $50. What deal! I now it is a foreign made tool but for my needs and the price, it will work fine. I have actually used it twice and am still on the initial battery charge. So, I cannot speak for long term battery life or charge time but early appearances are it will be adequate. If you are a professional who will use such a tool a lot, you may want to consider a “name brand product.” But for an amateur such as myself, who will use this periodically, it a deal. This tool feels well made and “hefty” in the hand. Easy to change attachments, battery life so far seems OK

    Thanks for Amazon

I bought this for a bathtub renovation. I tried it but the blades didn’t cut and because it was so long I couldn’t get it to fit into a tight space. You should really have vibration gloves for this as well.I’m glad I got to try it out and find out that this will not work for me

Good oscillating multi-tool, awkward bolt chuck

Got this Amazon Denali 20V Cordless Oscillating Multi-Tool Kit for light duty use around a small homestead, mostly repairs or building stuff.Design is good, compact, light weight, fairly atypical of oscillating multi-tools, but uses a hex bolt + washer + hex wrench to hold blades where other tools use some variety of toolless blade chuck. This appears to be a direct rebrand of Skil OS593002, but without the Skil PWRCORE 20 battery & rapid charger features. Build quality is fairly good, this feels like a well made tool, nice durable casing.Functionality is good, works well at everything an oscillating tool can do, speed control is nice, but changing bits is a little tedious. The included attachment kit is a decent starter package but not good quality. Also discovered this is good at cutting off small trees and roots in tight spaces or around rock, where other power tools can’t reach or are riskier to use, probably has other unconventional homestead uses.Price point is good compared to other name-brand tools, and this is higher quality than stuff from similarly priced Chinese generic brands, even if they offer better performance the service life will be shorter, which is reflected in Amazon’s warranty. The rest of the Denali platform is good for similar light duty home DIY & hobbyist use, here are the tools I have:- Angle Grinder, nice compact mid-range grinder with thumb switch, nice side handle back position & wrench in the side handle, good for small tasks, but power hungry, comes with only 1x 4Ah battery, runtime is 15min with 100min recharge (4Ah batteries are overpriced, as of this writing a 2nd 4Ah battery by itself is $20 less than a 2nd angle grinder kit).- Impact Driver, 1/4in bit driver, good mid-range power, handles 10×3.5in torx deck screws well and anything smaller easily, but struggles with bigger stuff, not intended to drive larger sockets but can probably take lug nuts off a smaller car. This includes an extra battery.- Hammer Drill, good mid-size drill-driver, weak hammer action also handles 10×3.5in torx deck screws but slower than the impact driver, easily handles anything smaller, struggles with anything bigger. This includes an extra battery.- Rotary Hammer, small, a little weak, slow yet capable as a SDS bit drill & hammer drill for home DIY tasks, but has no hammer-only mode (no SDS chisels).- Jig Saw, nice little saw, as powerful as 40 year old corded jig saws I’ve repaired and used on DIY home remodeling projects.- Sander, nice 5in sander, as powerful as a couple ~25 year old corded palm sanders I have. With the Hammer Drill and Impact Driver each providing two batteries, either one is a good entry point into this tool platform (or both is great), and provides the spare batteries & charger to use any of these tools all day at a casual DIY pace, except for this power hungry angle grinder. With more batteries some of these tools can do alright in light duty professional usage. Not all of the Denali tools use weaker inefficient brushed motors, I narrowly missed getting the 12in chainsaw with a brushless motor and a 4Ah battery, should be nice, and goes well with an angle grinder. Cross compatibility with Skil PWRCORE 20 batteries & rapid charger is nice and pushes many of these tools over to lower tier professional grade performance, especially with the bonus torque from a 5Ah battery.Overall, 5 stars, good oscillating multi-tool, awkward bolt chuck.

    Compared to Greenworks and Makita

    I also have a

    Makita multi tool ($89)

     and

    one from Greenworks ($103).

Like the name says, these tools are great for so many tasks. I especially love them for trimming drywall and installing electrical boxes. With the right blade, they are the cat’s meow for cutting nails or bolts. For any metal cutting

these blades from Bosch are the best.

The weak point of the Denali Multi-tool is the blade change system. I believe with most other brands, blades can be changed without the use of a wrench. Changing blades with Denali requires using an Allen wrench. Though Greenworks and Makita’s blade changing systems are similar, I prefer Makita’s. The Greenworks is clunky and actually more difficult than Denali’s bolt and wrench system. But for me, needing to use a wrench, and the added time and effort that takes, make the Denali something that would not be my first choice. This is especially true since the older model Makita is on $2 more. Do keep in mind though that that price is for the bare tool without a battery and charger or the blades and blade case that are included with the Denali kit.The Denali Multi-tool osculates at a range of 11,000 to 16,000 Oscillations Per Minute. The Makita’s range is from 6000 to 20,000 OPM. I find that the difference at the top of the scale is not a big deal. But there are lots of jobs where the lower OPMs that the Makita offers make things so much easier and cleaner. The Greenworks multi tool has a top end of 18,000 OPM but does not list it’s slowest OPM. However, with the Greenworks, when you set the variable speed at a lower setting and it will increase automatically as the tool encounters resistance. This is beneficial in ALMOST every situation but there are those times when you’d like to keep it slow and can’t with the Greenworks. One other thing I dislike about the Denali is the placement of the battery. The Makita and the Greenworks can be sat upright on the battery. This means the blade is not resting on the surface you sit it on. Maybe it’s just what I’m more used to, but I prefer sitting my tool upright. All three tools will be fine for most jobs. I like the Makita best but I would choose the Denali over the Greenworks. The Denali Multi-tool is much quieter than the Greenworks, which sounds like it’ going to blow up higher OPMs). The Denali noise level is comparable with the Makita at similar OPM.This Denali multi-tool is ok for home owners who likely won’t use it on a daily basis. If you already have Skil or Denali tools and 20v batteries, then getting this tool may make sense over a more expensive (when you add in a battery and charger) Makita. I have other Denali battery operated tools but I’d say this is one of their weaker offerings. But if you are a DIYer and don’t mind removing a bolt to change the blade, then selecting the Denali may be the way to go.

Good tool from a brand you can trust

This is my 2nd Amazon brand tool and I got it specifically because the battery is horizontal / with the direction of the tool instead of in a T shape on the bottom like my Makita. This allows me to have a more flat angle on the bottom when using it. while the battery is a bonus, the blade attachment is an Allen screw, so unlike my Makita, this Amazon Denali requires a screw to be removed to change blades. This is more of an issue if your chewing through blades or switching for different materials.vibration is minimally different and the range of oscillation is lower (11-16k), but I’ve not found any use where this range is not acceptable. That said, there are some materials that cut cleaner on lower ranges like sub 10k.The grip is similar to other tools and the switch is well placed and easy to use while still retaining a slight ridge to avoid accidental power on or off.On top of it, I now have an extra battery and charger for my compatible drill.

Perfect, Cordless Multi-Tool for the DIY’er

I own another cordless multi-tool from a different manufacturer, so my review of this one has some experience behind it.After using this on 2 different projects over the weekend, I can honestly say that this is a very nice Multi-Tool for the money. It has just about everything included with it that you would need in a multi-tool for any DIY workshop ( I used all of the 120 grit sand discs that were included, and then some ) . The ONLY thing that it did not have, which was surprising, was a bag or case to keep everything in.It comes with an assortment of accessories, including 2 blades for scraping, 14 each of 120 and 60 grit sanding pads and a “hook and loop” attachment for sanding pads. My “Name Brand” tool did not come with near this many accessories. I think there were 4 sanding pads with it and that was it.The tool has variable speed, but not in the trigger like most other tools. There is a dial that you use to adjust the power. This is not a deal-breaker, but it would have been better had they stuck with industry standards on something like this.It has solid power that should tackle just about any job you encounter DIY. It seems to need a couple of seconds to ramp up to whatever speed setting that you have it on, but this really is not a negative. Once it attains the power level, it does not get any “fall-off”.It comes with one 2ah rechargeable battery that is also compatible with SKIL Cordless Tools. I would highly advise that if you purchase one of these that you also order an 4ah battery as a secondary and backup. I own over 60 cordless tools and have discovered on absolute fact about batteries for these things. I own about 25 batteries ranging between 1.5ah to 9ah. I can tell you that on any tool that I use, I get more “backbone” out of the larger batteries. This is the second rebranded Denali Power Tool that I have obtained from Amazon. What I have seen so far is solid-quality products that are complete kits when you purchase them from Amazon. They have a great idea with this line of tools and I plan to follow them closely as more and more items are released. I can’t wait until battery technology allows operation of large bench tools, like full size band saws, table saws, lathes, etc. Amazon will surely be on the cusp of what is released. This is a well-built and easy to understand tool for a DIY’er. It is ergonomically designed to feel and fit your grip, comes with everything to get you started, and is priced at a level you can’t say no to and you can even use SKIL batteries with it!!I Highly Recommend This Amazon Branded Denali/SKIL 20V Cordless Multi Tool for any DIY’er.5 Stars

Compact, plenty of power, like the Skil battery compatibility, AMAZING warranty!

Oscillating tools are super awesome for certain jobs. They are great for precise trimming work. They work great for plunge cuts into the middle of things and it seems like they will cut just about anything. Oh yeah, you can use it for sanding also. I have had several corded oscillating tools but I’m new to the battery operated version. Since battery drills have been around forever and they have plenty of power, I wasn’t too worried about that. The convenience of not dragging an extension cord to your work is definitely a plus. This tools seems to be a great example of this type of tool. Even with the battery attached, its very similar in size to the electric ones I have. Honestly, I think it is a little lighter than my plug in version. The variable speed control is definitely something I appreciate too. It comes with a decent assortment of blades and sanding accessories to get you started.I really only have 2 negatives to share about this tool: 1. I wish it had a quick change chuck on it instead of having to keep up with a hex key. 2. I think it should come with a canvas bag or something to keep everything in.On the other hand, it comes with a 5 YEAR WARRANTY on the tool and a 2 year battery warranty. I know of one tool store that only gives you 90 days. This is a much better warranty! I also think its a plus that it uses the same battery as Skil tools. If you ever need a replacement, you should be able to find it. If you buy some no-name tool you may never be able to replace the battery.Minus 1 star for hex key blade changes and no storage bag.

    Beginner

I’m a DYI beginner, and I’ve never used this type of device so I can’t speak with how it compares to similar products. I’ve only used for a sanding project and it worked well even for someone like me who’s never used such a tool! I’m excited to see what other projects I can get into since it appears to be very versatile.

Includes everything you need to use – perfect for getting into DYI

Let’s start out with what I didn’t like. I’m biased as I have two of these from two different manufacturers but at 3-4X the cost and without the included accessories.• The tool attachment is via a socket head screw and washer. That means, you must remove the screw and washer to replace the tool head you are planning to use.• The ramp-up in speed when initially turning on is underwhelming. This doesn’t affect the use once up to speed, it just reminds you where cost-savings take place to make a tool like this available at its price-point.That’s all I have for now.For the good.• It comes with an accessory pouch. It’s a little pouch but they filled it with 4 tool heads that you may need in your DIY project and plenty of sanding pads. The cutting heads wear out and you’ll have to get new ones sooner or later but the fact that it already comes with these, you’re set to start right away, out of the box.• Adjustable speed setting. A wide adjustment is available. Set it and turn it on.• Light is on point. You may not think that’s important but depending on your project, you yourself may be causing the area to fall under shadow and having that light where you need it is very helpful. All in all, this is great to have Amazon create a tool made and backed by SKIL at this price point. I’m sure there are plenty of DIYs out there who have had a need for such a tool. You don’t need to go get one sold by a fly-by-night company. You can have one with a great warranty and SKIL makes parts, batteries and warranty even more appealing.

Corless makes this multi tool even better

I had a corded multi tool previous to this one. I loved the corded tool but didn’t use it as much because of the cord limitations. The cordless version is the way to go and this Denali tool is impressive. Great build quality from fit and finish to ergonomics. attachments are easy to change and the tool is balanced well with great battery placement. The smaller compact battery is perfect for this tool because it doesn’t need to be an outrageous AH battery to run this tool. It operates, looks and feels like a high quality, premium tool!

    Nice Features and Balance

This is the first oscillating multitool I have used. I found it to be easy to learn and manage. It has a great weight distribution when the battery is in place. (One could control the depth of the cut by moving his or her hand forward or back on the tool.)It comes with everything one needs to start. Accompany it is a detailed user’s guide (a bit unusual these days) and a lot of supporting documentation. It looks and feels sturdy and solidly built. It has a universal arbor so finding blades to fit should present no problem. With some practice, I am sure I will find many uses for it. Picture 4 of 9 shows the power switch (on the top of the tool). Picture 5 of 9 shows the speed dial; it offers a good variety of oscillating speeds. (I completed cutting a 1X6 fence rail with the speed set at 2 then did another at the speed set at 8. (There is a big difference in the process – I liked the higher speed better.) Picture 6 shows the accessories that come with the multitool. (I obtained this multitool thinking I would use of it to help me sand a couple of interior doors and parts of the balusters on our stairs. Having used it to make some cuts in wood, helped me see how flexible it can be. Attaching the blades was also easy.Picture 9 shows the results of the first cut I made with the Denali Multitool – I clamped a straight edge on the mark at which I wanted to make the cut. I failed to hang on to the part I cut off, so that explains the roughness at the bottom of the cut.I haven’t tested it fully yet, co I cannot vouch for how long the battery lasts. So far, I am not disappointed at all, and expect to get a lot of use from it. I am happy to have acquired it.

It did exactly what I needed it for and for less than a name brand. What I did not care for -it does not have a variable speed trigger.InsteadA switch to turn it on and a thumb dial for adjusting speed. It worked fine. Its just not what i was used to.

    Solid oscillating tool

This is a pretty good value for what’s included. I was impressed that the kit included an accessory pouch with a nice assortment of blades (2) scraper (1), velcro type sander attachment, (14) 120 grit sand pads and (14) 60 grit pads. That’s a pretty nice bonus and not what is typically included with these tools. The power is equal to what I’ve experienced in higher end tools. It has good power ramping and has a variable power dial on the tool’s body. It feels well balanced and is easy to use. The kit also included a 2ah battery that is compatible with Skil pwr core line and a slide in charger. My only complaint is that blade removal requires a tool (Allen wrench), this isn’t a huge issue it is just that almost all of these types of tools have a toolless blade removal system for convenience.

    Sturdy Oscillating Multi Tool

This is a very sturdy and well made cordless Oscillating tool. This is my second cordless Denali brand power tool and I am impressed with the quality in which they are made. This tool has a stable handle grip in front of the battery area that is right at the balance point which makes the tool easy to control and maneuver around for cutting and sanding in corners. The thumb trigger is in a convenient spot on the top of the tool. The speed of the oscillations can be controlled by a dial on the side of the tool which is also in a convenient place to access while operating the tool.A good assortment of cutting blades are included as well as various sanding papers of different grit to get started using the tool right out of the box.The attachments have 12 slots in them that fit over 12 pins at the attachment point at the head of the tool, which makes it so the attachments can be attached at an angle if need be.The batteries feel hefty for a low profile battery and well made. They have a 4 light charge indicator on the battery that displays with a push of a button. The supplied blades cut very well into drywall and pvc conduit and I have had good results sanding with this tool.My experience with Denali brand tools has been all positive. I believe they are extremely well made, with high quality in mind and designed to last a long time. I can find no corners that were cut in the design or operation of this tool.

    Awesome Multi-Tool

Amazon has entered the power tool market in a big way with their Denali line. Cross-compatibility with existing SKIL PWRCORE batteries and chargers makes this a compelling option, particularly if you are already invested in the ecosystem. This also means that replacement batteries and accessories will be widely available down the line.Multi-tools have become an essential part of the arsenal for trade professionals and DIY warriors alike. Available attachments allow for grinding, sanding, and cutting with accuracy. This tool has a comfortable grip and balance, weighing in at just 2lbs standalone and 3lbs with the included 2.0Ah battery. The variable speed dial is conveniently positioned, and the on/off switch is easily accessible at the top of the tool. The grip design also allows the tool to adequately vent during usage. This kit includes a sanding pad, 28 sanding sheets, wood/plastic blade, segment blade, scraper, hex key, and carrying pouch. The kit does not include a carrying case or bag.I would be remiss if I didn’t mention the outstanding warranty for these Denali power tools, 5 years for the power tool and 2 years for the battery. The quality and warranty make this hard to beat at this price range.

A surprisingly solid multi-tool with good power.

Little by little I am starting to cut the cord and get more cordless tools. The problem is that once you are invested in a particular battery ecosystem, you are married to it. And most of them are ridiculously expensive. I decided to give this brand a try and pick up a few items with interchangeable batteries and chargers. The first impression was how hefty this was. Now, weight doesn’t necessary dictate quality, but it did feel very solid and reassured me that this was a serious tool. Even so, it wasn’t oppressively heavy even with the battery making me worry about hand and arm fatigue after a long day of remodeling. It’s got a good grip and feels well balanced. For something at this price (sub $90), I feel like it’s a good value. The kit came with good documentation and the learning curve wasn’t too bad. I tried all the different heads provided and all worked adequately and as expected. This is a great option for the hobbyist or casual user. If you are in the trades and have to use this 8 hours a day every day, you may want to upgrade. I tried it on soft woods, drywall, drywall seams and plastic and everything worked fine. I can’t speak to how it will work on much harder materials. The battery took a charge well and provided as much life and power as I would have expected from a 2.0Ah battery. I hope there is a good supply of OEM and aftermarket options so I can get a lot more batteries.

    Powerful and versatile

I’ve been using this tool for various home improvement projects such as replacing floors, baseboards, door casings, stair repair, etc. I wish I had this tool for my other previous projects!Being battery operated, can work anywhere without having to run extension cords. Literally just grab it and start working. Being able to adjust the speed of the tool has been a big plus for me. Low speed is great for sanding without making a complete dust cloud in the whole room. While high speed is good for removing well glued down carpet. It came with the 2amp battery (mostly charged) and I also got the 4amp (also arrived mostly charged). As you can see in the photos, the 4amp gives the tool a little more bulk but it’s still comfortable to use even when standing on a step stool.I have other name brand battery operated power tools and this one is just as powerful and battery life has been very good.

A decent tool for the price

Full disclosure: This is my first oscillating tool, so I don’t honestly have anything else to compare it with.I’ve occasionally needed a tool like this for some time, but it’s always been a small job here or there and I just couldn’t justify spending the money. This tool is inexpensive enough that I felt it was time and I feel that it’s definitely worth the money. It feels comfortable in the hand. As is true for many tools manufactured these days, it has a very star-trekkie look to it. I feel shallow for liking that. But it *does* look pretty cool. It comes with an assortment of various tool attachments – sandpaper, saws, etc. Probably not enough to do any serious work, but enough to let you try it. Then you can go buy the blades and whatnot you expect to use a lot.I tried a few of the tasks – undercut some trim, sanded the inside corner on some cornhole boards. Works great.I couple minor beefs – A simple soft case wouldn’t have gone amiss. I’m going to have to store it in the cardboard box it came in. Also, the charger is huge. It feels like they put a tiny bit of electronics inside of a massive box.

Excellent value for an occasional user grade tool, essentially identical to Skil Pwrcore version

This oscillating multi-tool provides good performance for the very reasonable cost. It seems than Ammy has formed a re-branding agreement with Chervon/Skil to make a Denali version. I’m not sure what the point is as the cost is essentially the same whether you get the green Denali version or the red Skil. At least they both use the same battery system, unlike some other companies which sell similar or nearly identical tools under multiple brand names with incompatible battery packs. (i.e. Black & Decker, Craftsman, Porter-Cable & Dewalt).

    Awesome

I have used this on a couple projects and it is awesome. I wish I had one years ago, the price in the big box stores always scared me to buy one and now I have this one I don’t regret trying it. My uncle who owns a remodel company says this is better than his Kobalt brand. This works great and has been used a lot by myself and my uncle on different jobs.

    Cordless Oscillating Multi-Tool Kit

I have had the privilege of evaluating other power tools, so I jumped at the opportunity when this came up. That said, comparing it to my Ryobi, I found this unit to be lighter and more comfortable to hold. As for the battery, I charged it the night before, and it worked for the task without running out. I like the extra accessories it brought compared to my other one, which didn’t bring any. Skil makes this brand, and it’s no surprise that it’s good quality and built well. I’m pleased with it and recommend it.

    Rugged Versatility

It was impressive opening the box and looking at the various parts of this special tool. It has a rugged look to it’s design. It could almost pass for a model of some sort of space ship! I charged up the battery and tried it out. It has a nice balanced feel and seems to have plenty of power. It’s the kind of tool you want for when it’s needed, but it also brings about inspirations of what you could do with it for a new project too.

Okay at best. Definitely not “Pro-Grade”. Poor blade change process.

I have to say that I am disappointed with this tool. First off, it does not feature a quick release feature for the blade. You must use an allen wrench, WHICH IS NIOT INCLUDED! I was looking for the wrench and then saw that it was not included per the manual. For more than an occasional user having to use an allen wrench to change the blade, which waste time and sets you up to lose the screw, is a poor design feature. The tool works okay but I have used better. For the price, or for a little more, there are much better options out there. I have a similar tool from a big box store. The warranty is far better, it has removable head with other attachments that I find useful. It also has a quick change mechanism for changing the blades. No allen wrenches, that are not included, no screws to lose.I know this is a harsh review but I think it is valid. If this sold for half the price I might give it five stars for value. However, for the price and lack of features three is the best I can do.When buying a tool such as this also consider waht other tools you would like. You need to pick a brand and stay with it as they all use different batteries. I have close to a dozen tools from form manufacturer. Some are 20 years old. I can use interchange the batteries between them. If a battery ever fails I get one under warranty. I have had to do this a few times. If you mix and match tools you will have to carry extra batteries for each tool with you in stead of a few tools and even less batteries since you can move the battery from tool to tool. Often you can buy a set of tools for a much better price than buying them separately, but not always, so check the prices. Lots of sales coming up with the holidays. The Denali hand tolls I have tried have been quite good. Unfortunately I cannot say the same for this tool. I will be looking at tome of the other Denali power tools soon.I do not recommend this tool.

    Good basic oscillating multi-tool

This is a decent, basic oscillating multi-tool. The build quality is great and the included charger recharges the included battery very quickly. It does not feature quick-change and it has a basic, brushed motor. The tool itself has great ergonomics when using it. This Denali-branded tool is compatible with the SKIL batteries and this tool itself is very similar to the SKIL OS593002. The build quality between the two are almost identical, as well. If you are considering this, do price shopping with the SKIL OS593002, as they have the same features. The Denali and SKIL batteries are cross-compatible.

    Square hole no problem.

Being “Cross-compatible with all SKIL PWRCORE 20 tools” is an excellent feature. The Denali Oscillating Multi-Tool makes cutting square holes super easy. I frequently mount faceplates in sheetrock and this tool is going to be great. There seems to be endless applications for this multitool. The battery has plenty of power and it has an LED charge indicator. The manuals for the battery, charger and oscillating multitool are complete and include lots of tips on how to effectively use and take care of the tool.It is easy to hold and works great.

    excellent warranty

5 yrs warranty on the power tools and 2 yrs for the battery. The best part is that the warranty is through amazon customer service since Denali is an amazon brand.I got this tool for my wife so can rip off the carpets and do some woodworking. This tool is excellent for her because amazon designed this tool for homeowners. As a homeowner more expensive and more powerful tools like Milwaukee and DeWalt are an overkill. This tool is perfect for the weekend warriors.

    Very versatile

Works great! I used this to undercut some trim while installing new floors worked like a champ. Battery life is pretty good. I bought a second one just so I wouldn’t have to stop working while waiting on a charge. Comes with a nice assortment of accessories. Unit itself is well built and fits nicely in your hands. Only wish is that it came with a case, but still well worth the money.

Great tool. Good value. Comes with a neat case to keep your attachments in so you lose them. Lightweight and easy to handle. The battery doesn’t slide off as easily hand my other tools but I not too bad. Recommended.

    So convenient

Cordless tools are just as good as electric tools. I did make sure I always ordered so he had two batteries just so if he’s doing a big job he has another ready to go.
