    Great hardware, software got nerfed.

The microphone on this headset is amazing – it’s almost condenser microphone quality. The noise cancelling is top notch on it, so it picks up MUCH better quality audio but it’s not so sensitive that people around you might be getting picked up on it consistently. The build feels solid, wearing the headset is comfortable. Anything the hardware is responsible for on this headset gets top marks, well done, definitely an upgrade from my years of using the corsair void elite and the corsair rgb pro. Also just came off using the razer blackshark (<-- AVOID) and the logitech g432.However, where this headset disappoints is the software. Normally with corsair headsets you're given equilizer, sidetone, and surround sound from the iCue software recommended by the manufacturer for the headset and normally it's great and easy to use. But with the HS80, the surround sound no longer comes with iCue and you're forced to wrestle with Dolby Atmos app from the windows store if you're on PC. Also, for whatever reason, the included sidetone, while it does work, is about half the volume at max as its predecessors. Somehow, the volume for the sidetone seems connected to the main volume for the headset, so if you turn it down, it also decreases the sidetone. But again, when it's at max volume, it's still only about half as audible as previous headsets from Corsair. Seems like a ridiculous thing to reduce in quality.Fortunately, surround sound isn't that important to me and the sidetone is audible enough that while slightly annoying, is still functional. The microphone quality is amazing though and I have had several comments from friends about it just on the first day of using it.Overall, not regretting the purchase, but these things are definitely important to note before buying. 3 people found this helpful

Premium audio hardware plagued by sub-par software, an expensive own-goal

UPDATE SEPTEMBER 13 2022– iCUE now remembers sidetone settings. Good job Corsair, have a star back.———–My PC is a “Corsair” build, with iCUE handling my audio, my mouse and keyboard, my CPU cooler, and my case fans. After picking up the HS80 my loyalty to Corsair has been rewarded with frequent crashes, audio delays and distortion, and constant maintenance of software that’s supposed to – by design – not need constant maintenance.I’m impressed with the build quality. The earcups and elastic suspension headstrap feel substantial and do a good job isolating outside sound. The boom mic is comfortable and microphone quality is the best Corsair has offered to date.Past Corsair headsets have had surround audio built-in to iCUE. The HS80 comes stereo out of the box and “supports surround audio” through external tools: either Windows Sonic or Dolby Atomos from the Windows Store. Dolby Atomos is Corsair-recommended, but iCUE does not handle this integration gracefully. Windows struggles to negotiate audio processing between iCUE and Dolby Atomos, resulting in delayed pre-caching and extended load times of 30-45 seconds per instance. Opening a dozen YouTube tabs and waiting a minute for each one to play nice with Dolby and iCUE, freezing my whole PC during the wait, makes listening to music or watching videos painful. Corsair’s “recommended feature” – and part of the premium expense of this product – is better off completely ignored. The HS80’s volume wheel has a click-in button that lets you switch between Equalizer presets. This only toggles iCUE’s built in stereo equalizer – which gets disabled if you utilize Windows Sonic or Dolby Atomos. This click-in button can’t be remapped in iCUE. Another premium feature that is totally worthless in practice.Microphone sidetone settings constantly reset because iCUE can’t remember an on/off binary state. iCUE has never handled sidetone correctly in the past 3 years I’ve used multiple Corsair headsets so this is not a surprise. If you prefer sidetone, you’ll never forget to constantly re-enable it with the HS80, because iCUE can’t be bothered to do it right.iCUE does not handle wandering gracefully – you are “wireless” but not totally untethered from your desk. Walking out of wireless dongle range causes problems. The headset will reconnect, but sometimes audio processing will become corrupted, or your microphone output will sound higher or lower pitched to listeners. Your friends will tell you your mic is broken after they’re done laughing or complaining in VC.Plugging power into the headset to recharge it midway through a gaming session causes the entire headset to turn off and on again, which can cause iCUE to crash. Turning the headset off and plugging it in to charge while still using the computer can cause iCUE to crash. Exiting wireless range can cause iCUE to crash. Troubleshooting surround audio can cause iCUE to crash. Nothing about the premium features justifying this headset’s price are supported by the software responsible for making it all work.If you don’t mind troubleshooting your own PC this is a great headset. If you want something that just works, buy a wired Corsair headset, or go for a different non-Corsair wireless brand.

Lasting well so far, good sound quality

The mic is much louder than my prior headset, Corsair VOID. Though it still requires a bit of boost. That said, this headset has good sound quality (for a usb gaming headset) and they are really comfortable. The only issue I have is the headband isn’t quickly adjustable. The upside is it will stay the same from use to use, unlike some that will expand/contract and you’d have to adjust often. The downside is there is some trial error and finicking to get the sizing right. Not a major downside.Another plus is the volume is a wheel, versus buttons. This makes for quick adjustment of volume. On that, they are really loud. I use mine at 8 (out of 100) and even that can be too loud. This doesn’t appear to be an easy thing to adjust, i.e. reduce output by 50% or whatever to give me more range. Though it hasn’t proven to be a real issue.Overall, a good upgrade from the Corsair Void and light years better than the Logitech G35s I had years ago. The wireless version of this headset is tempting, though the mic quality seems to be better with the wired version. Plus, no batteries or dongle to worry about.

    Didn’t Last a Year

Great headset for several months. Everything worked. Sound quality for both audio and mic were great. Used for PC gaming extensively/daily.Around the third month, the fabric covering the cushioned covers over the ears began to separate. The fabric covering was too small for the amount of tension placed on it. They were attached with a very flimsy bit of glue to the plastic housing over the ear cups, and that failed very early on. Without using some kind of super glue, there is no way to fix them, and there is no way to buy a replacement for the cushions. Now it’s been several months of bare sponge against the face to use the headphones, and it’s itchy, uncomfortable material. I cannot make a durable cover to repair it. I cannot order a replacement. I cannot re-adhere the old covers back on because of the way it’s made.I’m never buying another Corsair product again given how ridiculous this kind of failure is. If you google it, this is a super common problem with this headset. It’s a shame. A product that could easily have lasted years rendered absolutely worthless by a completely preventable design flaw.Buy something else.

    Best headset around

My husband bought this headset for his PC. He says it’s comfortable on his ears, the top head band stretches good, and sounds good. He thinks it does Bluetooth but it’s very convenient that it has a separate piece to plug into the pc so you don’t have to worry about it disconnecting randomly

    It’s a more expensive Void…

TLDR: it’s not worth $150, either get a “renewed” Virtuoso if you want a Corsair headset or find another one that you like the feel of.Quick disclaimer in that I’m a Corsair loyalist. My pc has vengence ram, an h150i cooler, 4 QL fans, and the case is a 5000X with an ironclaw mouse and k95 keyboard. The only thing I am missing is a headset and I can keep everything controlled/monitored in iCue. I should have a bias, but when it comes to headsets it’s about 2 things: comfort and sound quality. I’m doing everything stock, EQ included (I’m not oblivious, I’m just doing this straight out of the box).First impressions: the ears feel more like a Void headset than the virtuoso. I really expected with the increased with of them that they’d have expanded them a little all over and have an overall looser fit like the virtuoso (which I do have). Ho boy…I was wrong there. They don’t rest on any part of my ear but I can just barely feel the material touching my ears that I’m frequently adjusting them because it just slightly irritates my ears. The whole headset feels tighter than I expected. I have a hat size of 7 1/2, so it is on the upper end but not oversized, and I’m like maxing the band to the top of the headset. Even my Virtuoso set has more room.Aesthetically they look ok. The RGB logo is off in the corner which compared to both the void and virtuoso looks really off. Even the HS60 and HS70 are centered. The little velcro bits they have under it to adjust the band feel well manufactured but even I feel it’s unusual to have them when I have a headset with a similar design that auto adjusts (and it’s great).People seem to complain the mic is too quiet. I put the headset on, jumped in a discord call, and no one noticed a difference from me using my Virtuoso settings. Mic quality between those 2 are the same in my opinion. It’s still a headset mic so don’t expect amazing quality.I’m not doing this in extreme heat, it’s been about 65F when I go to try them out and I put my AC on across the room. I can feel these definitely begin to warm up due to the fabric being used. They may have memory foam, but they have this material that feels like a cross between felt and flannel. It’s not velour and it’s not the same stuff on Astro headsets. Maybe it was the same kind they used on the Void? I don’t recall.Corsair base EQ settings are shit. If you use the general one for about a week you really get desensitized to it. This one’s no exception. If I had to give it a grade straight out the box, B-. It’s not bad, but plenty of room for improvement. Adjust the levels as you wish, but from experience, you just get used to them.Final thoughts:I’ll be honest, I really expected more from Corsair. I really wanted the flexible band design with the experience i got from the Virtuoso and I didn’t get it.. I love my Razer Nari for it and I detest Razer devices (especially mice) and software. Honestly I’m bouncing between a few old ones seeing which feels the best. As for which: Astro A40TR (as I recently found my old pair and they still work 5 years later), Razer Nari (for the flex band and earcups), and the Virtuoso for it’s connectivity to my RGB setup. Two of those are wireless because I prefer that, however I like the mixamp from Astro enough to forego that. For $150…I’m passing. The best way to describe these are the episode of Ed Edd n Eddy where the Eds scam Jimmy and make him think he’s going to Smileyville. All the vids were saying how these are the ultimate headset Corsair has made, this is incredible, it’s a gamechanger, etc. What they have taken me to is a more expensive Void, a headset I hated, with some elements of the Virtuoso. Maybe if you were extremely used to the Steel series headset that this band is close to you’ll enjoy it, I never had one so I can’t give that perspective. If you want a Corsair headset, get a refurbished Virtuoso. Which one? Doesn’t even matter, mine was $130 (which I bought the SE and they instead sent the regular black one, so watch that). The pleather cups that come on it aren’t uncomfortable, but I always fear the day they’ll start to break apart and crumble. The other 2 headsets I mentioned, the A40s with mixamp and the Nari (both in a “renewed” state) are both even cheaper at about $95 each. There’s definitely options here and I’m sorry, but I just will never see the HS80 as being worth $150.I’m not giving up on Corsair for a headset. I feel like they can make something good, but their offerings currently are lackluster.

    Very Happy (Thankfully)…

I bought these to replace my Corsair Void Pro headset that have had the ‘quiet mic’ issue for a while now.I was hesitant to get another Corsair headset due to the mic issues, but it seems like it’s 50/50 on that no matter which brand you go with, so I pulled the trigger.First off, the whole reason I caved and got a new headset in the first place, is because my work headset completely died. I switched to the Voids as a backup, and realised that people were barely able to hear me (I work as an IT support specialst… so…that’s not great). After I received these I immediately swapped them out and was very pleasantly surprised. The mic actually works the way it’s supposed to. Initially testing with voice recorder played back nice, clean sound. After taking a few calls, I’ve noticed that I can speak casually again (no more borderline yelling at customers). One thing I will note about the mic, is that it does not have any sort of noise dampening. Not a problem for me, but if you have a slightly noisier home office, these might not work for you.Speaking of WFH, we use Cisco Jabber with Finesse to route calls. I was able to plug-and-play with no issues and no need to install I-Cue.Comfort-wise, these are actually more comfortable than the old pair. The band kind of threw me off, but after adjusting it, it fit perfectly (I have a big head AND wear glasses). Can barely tell I’m wearing them after about 5 minutes. The only gripes I have – I wish they had an in-line controller for the volume and mute (on ear is fine, and mic flip works well enough). I also noticed that the sound is not as punchy as the Voids, but then again, I haven’t tested with ICue yet, so the custom EQs may change that.Overall, very happy with the headset, and even more excited that they worked out of the box with my work software.

    Perfect for entry level

FOR THOSE WHO ARENT AUDIOPHILES OR EXPERTS — READ THISThis headset is one of the best entry level gaming headsets i’ve purchased. They are made sturdy, adjustable, and without error. For those who are deciding between this headset and other prevalent devices, choose this one. Don’t pay mind to nitpicky reviews unless you are sure you understand the humongous words and technical terms they use.Pros:- Made with metal, memory foam, and high quality materials- Bass drivers are at the perfect level of medium- Very loud, you won’t need to max your volume manager out in order to hear- The microphone is the best headset microphone in my opinion, no pop filter necessary, clear and non-suppressed, as well as compatible with voice mod or third party software- The mute functions are spectacular, the software it comes with allows you to chose a mute key as well as the push up mic and mute button- Mic is perfect for mumblers, whisperers, and anyone who is shyCons:- The highs are sharp, which causes audio to peak high- The mic is very firm and almost unable to be posed- The mic is surround based, meaning it tends to pick up outside noise—however you can use noise cancelling features from third party software and built in functions like Discord has- The headset is tight but has adjustable features like the headband- The earmuffs do not extend downwards or upwards but you can adjust the headband to elude to the same featureHappy purchasing!

Dolby Atmos on these are amazing

Very happy with these. Excellent sound quality, comfortable, convenient battery life for long gaming sessions. Well done by Corsair. They can hurt your head after a few hours but other than that these are super solid. The Dolby Atmos with these is like night and day to other headsets, almost like a whole new world.

great sound and solid build just a little small

i have a pretty large head and the adjustability on this pair compared to my last set of corsair from a few years back is pretty minimal. its more of an elastic band that stretches depending on your head size, instead of the locking adjustable track mechanism of my last pair. having a larger head this does lead to some uncomfort after prolonged periods of play. overall a great headset that most ppl will love, sound is great and the microphone picks up my voice really clear, the design could be improved to allow for more adjustability for people with larger heads.

    I feel ripped off 🙂

Sooo, so far I’ve been buying cheaper brands of headphones for gaming that have worked pretty decently. I’m not sure if I just got used to stereo type headphones that when I changed to this type of headphones, everything sounded pretty off at the beginning. I said “I just need to get used to it” welllll for over $100 bucks I expected the sound to be better than the $20 buck headphones I’ve been buying. Nope, during gaming (like Apex or Valorant) the sound has messed me up more than I’d like to admit, yes it’s pretty nice for music and watching streams but finding the location of an enemy that made sound? Whoops, wrong direction! The mic was also a major let down, I went through my research and knew from the start that people complained about how low one sounded in discord but I didn’t think it’d be THAT low, friends have had to up my volume or I have to bring the mic closer to mouth. However, whenever they first heard me they mentioned I sounded “detailed” so I’m assuming that’s a plus? One good thing is the comfort of the headphones, adjust the strap to the size of your head and you can wear them over 8 hours with slight to no issues, I love the feeling of the soft cloth over my ears so it gets brownie points. Now it’s just the durability to wait out and even though I wish to get different ones with better sound/mic quality, I’m going to make my $100+ purchase last.

    Tight and cheap

The band to adjust the headset is a terrible design. I had it maxed out and it still felt like it was tight around my ears, and my head isn’t very large. The ear piece feels cheaply made, I doubt they would last very long. Lastly, the cord is pretty short for my liking. I will say the sound is decent for the price.I returned these and bought a new pair of Logitech g930s.

    Perfect Except Earcups

I’ve had these for 6 months. I’ll start if by saying, yes the headset is definitely worth the price. It fits nice and snug and should fit head types of all sizes. The build quality is decent enough, the only issue I had was the an earcup started to tear (seems to be a common issue in reviews). Replacing them is easy enough if you don’t mind buying 3rd party cups here on Amazon. These I replaced with in the photos was from the Deafen Store which is actually much better and have extra padding (these are pleather).Pros:- Up to date high sound quality- Software is decent (uses ICUE)- Nice color indicator on mic (Sound from your mic is literally YouTube professional GOOD)- Flexible mic arm- Lots of adjustments you can do in software. Mine says in a nice voice ‘mic on’ and ‘mic off’ when it’s flipped upCons:- Obviously QC on the product for the earcups (as mentioned above)- Sounds dull out of box. Look up EQ settings for HS80 and find what works best for you in the software- The head adjuster strap is a bit of a pain to adjust but really minor it’s set up well with velcroTLDR; is the headset worth $150? Yes 100% I love it. Check it as soon as you get it and watch it closely before return timeout, you may have a cup issue. Honestly the replacement cups I got from another seller is much better anyway and was only $20.

    Big Heads need not apply.

My version of this headset didn’t have the wireless range issues that other people were having nor the mic problems. The mic was fantastic and range throughout my house was fine even with several wireless devices on the 2.4 Ghz Band in the immediate vicinity. The first knock on this product is the sound quality – woof. USB mode was passable, wireless was nothing to write home about. Between my headset which directly attach analog into a DAC, it was clear the loss in fidelity during use. More noticeable with music, less noticeable in gaming. Your results will vary based upon your case use. Because of the lack of sound isolation (and the smaller-ish ear cups), bass is lost a bit while trebel and mids are forward. Raising the bass in EQ made this headset darker than it already is so that was a no go. 2/10 base oomph in my opinion.Last knock – the comfort. Seriously – the ski goggle band that corsair makes you believe is comfy all day long doesn’t apply to all noggins. I don’t have the largest head, nor the smallest, but gosh I had to loosen this thing all the way up to not fit tight but then my head is into the silicon top which is uncomfy itself. If I tightened up, my ears were getting pulled upwards quite terribly. Clamping force at any setting is tight and getting my ears to fit in the cups didn’t happen either. I would have loved to fall in love with this headset because of the wireless and the superb microphone, however; comfort > the rest. They mention in their description of this item, and I quote “Enjoy hours of long-lasting, plush comfort thanks to memory foam earpads with breathable cloth fabric and a stress-free floating headband design. ” Stress was definitely not free and took its tax on my head. Hours of long lasting, plush comfort was more like 15 minutes at best until I was readjusting.TL;DR:Big Round Head or Tall Head: Don’t BuySmall to Medium Heads: BuyBass Head: This ain’t it chief.Gaming: Sure why not but don’t expect anything superb.Music: Nah.Mic: Yep – this is a winner. Try to troubleshoot on your end before writing this headset off.Big Ears: Nope , either your lobe or top of your ear is getting smuhed.Small Ears: Go for it!Want Wireless: Yep. All good. Just be mindful you can have wireless issues. I didn’t.It was right in Corsairs hands. Take the mic from this, plop it onto the void, get rid of the ski-goggle, and they would have had a winner on their hand. But I guess they couldn’t make it completely perfect as to not undermine their own Virtuoso.Ultimately I returned mine due to severe comfort issues and extreme tightness – however if you’re a small to medium head, relatively normal sized ears, music lover who likes a flat yet dark sound, not a bass head, games a bit, and like the freedom of wireless with a great mic – this is it. If any of these don’t check off a box for you, look elsewhere unfortunately.

This Headset Is Not Worth the Price – The Mic Is Not as Expected

Got this headset last night and was so excited after watching all the reviews about the mic quality. Unfortunately, the mic is no better than my $30 Binnune headset. I compared the mic over recordings and teams call and only when I use the Dulby Access I was able to get slightly better speaker quality. As for ICUE, the official software for the product, I was experiencing an annoying white background noise. I went the corsair’s forum, and I was not alone with this experience. It was not until I fund another user who got rid of the sound by uninstalling the software that I was able to get rid of this headache.I really wanted to love this device. I even had my family compare the mic quality under a blind test and they could hardly tell the difference with the $30 headset and in some cases. As for my online meetings I was sounding just the same to participants.Lastly the range was not good at all. I would get disconnected going into the other room or kitchen which is about 12 – 15 feet away. I am sorry but I will be returning these and wait until I find something better.

    Solid Gaming Headset

This is a great mid-range gaming headset! I purchased this headset to go with my other corsair gaming accessories and I haven’t been disappointed with it yet. Initially the headset will feel a bit tight on the head until it gets worn more frequently. The build is sturdy and Corsair didn’t flood the headset with buttons you will never use and instead only offers the ones you would. Mic quality and sound quality are pretty solid compared to other headsets in this price range. Overall I would recommend purchasing this headset if you’re in the market for a new one!

Mostly good design but dragged down by software

I tested a 1/2 dozen well regarded headsets and this one was bought because the mic is good and the other features passable. If you care less about the mic I would recommend a turtle beach stealth 700/600 for batterly life+comfort or a steelseries nova for small size + comfort.Only get this if your ears are small enough and you care about the mic more than anything else but don’t want a table mic. This headset is comfortable provided you’re not wearing glasses with thick temples or have large ears. Otherwise the compression from the temples and on the top/bottom of the ears can be painful. I last about 6-8 hrs before it’s too much. The floating headband and velcro adjustment is helpful (not as good as the steelseries nova) but the earcups are non-replaceable and small enough that people with large ears will definitely feel it.There is no hardware noise cancellation. Battery life is ~12-18 hrs, which is very low compared to competitors. (turtle beach consistently lasts 48 hrs)The mic is the best part of this device and the reason why I bought it. It’s a little worse than the one found on their more expensive and even less comfortable cousin, The Virtuoso. It is NOT as good as a dedicated mic, maybe ~80% there where the virtuoso is ~90% as good. You get dolby atmos (3d sound) which is actually a great feature. You’ll need to redo your equalizer settings if you turn it on in that app.The icue software is by far the worst part of the headset. Sound profiles are stored in software, not hardware, so you can’t set it once and uninstall icue.icue is a size bloated but also poorly featured program by corsair to control their peripherals. For this headsest you can control voice prompts, the lights, a battery gauge, and a mediocre equalizer with profile saving. You’ll need the equalizer as the default sound profile is painfully inaccurate. If you send your computer to sleep, your settings will reset but in software nothing will change. You’ll have to untoggle and retoggle everything. If icue updates, chances are good the same will happen. Shut down your computer? flip a coin and get ready to redo settings. Modify the icue program? settings gone. All these features at the cost of 1/2 a GB of space.I’d guess most of the glowing reviews are simply unaware of other good competitive offerings. This headset has some good features but also clear downsides and potential problems in what I consider the most important part of a headset. Comfort. If you’re thinking about buying this buy->try-> return a few well regarded headsets or try them out at your local hardware store.I’d recommend a nova pro/7 if comfort is your priority. Turtle beach stealth 700/600 max are a little less comfortable but the batteries last much longer. Hardware profiles too! Logitech G735 has blu yeti’s software that fixes their bad mic. If you want wired HyperX cloud orbit is great except for the mic which is just decent.Once again only buy this if the mic on a gaming headset is your primary concern and you don’t want to buy a table mic. There are otherwise more comfortable, longer lasting headsets that don’t use icue.

    Very Solid Wireless Headset

Update 7/7/22: I bought this headset in November ’21 and it is still performing wonderfully. No issues whatsoever, build quality is holding up well with daily use of 4-8 hours and games, movies & music still sound excellent on this headset.First off, I want to say that this headset can get LOUD. I pretty much never have to turn the volume above 25/100 whereas with my previous headsets (Arctis Pro, HyperX Cloud Flight, Sony Platinum, TB Stealth 700 and a few others) I typically had no problem maxing out the volume and often needed to. The sound quality on these is excellent, they are high res capable, so they have a frequency range of 20-40,000hz, which is better than most headsets which are usually 20-20,000hz. They have 50mm drivers, 25% larger than a lot of similarly priced headsets. They come with a Dolby Atmos subscription which is great when watching movies in particular. For gaming, I prefer setting my own EQ on the Icue software, which is easy to use and feature-rich. The microphone on this headset really sets it apart from other wireless headsets though. It is by far the best sounding mic I’ve used on a headset, like it’s practically broadcast quality. My friends tell me that I sound like I’m speaking to them in person, there’s no compression or distortion, it’s really incredible for a wireless mic. Go watch Hardware Canucks review on YouTube if you want to hear it in action. The headset is very comfy as well, feels similar to an Arctis headset, what with the ski-goggle type band at the top and fabric ear cushions instead of leather. They are very well built and sturdy, with a solid plastic band and metal hinges. The earcups can rotate to lay flat on your chest as well. And because they use felt fabric instead of the typical PVC leather on the earcups, they are therefore much cooler and able to be worn for longer times because they don’t make your ears warm. They do a pretty good job of blocking outside noise, but they are not noise cancelling so you do get a little leakage, both coming in, and to a lesser extent, going out. The microphone flips up to mute and you can shut off or change the LED color on the mic to signify when it’s on or off. Again, the microphone quality is absolutely astounding for a wireless headset, don’t listen to the reviews claiming it’s too low, I’m pretty sure if that was an issue that a firmware update fixed it because both my best friend and I have never had that problem with our headsets. These really shine in FPS and other games where you need to pay attention to auditory details like footsteps. With the 10-band EQ, you can get things like footsteps sounding incredibly clear by adjusting the bass & treble. Dolby Atmos sounds great in movies and music and does well in games that decode Atmos sound, though I still prefer using the EQ for any competitive gaming. For single player games like God of War or Guardians of the Galaxy, the Atmos is a treat though. I really have only one complaint about this headset and that’s the battery life – it’s not really a complaint, just a nitpick, but I would’ve liked a few more hours of battery life. That being said, I still have never needed to charge it in a day, I can always get about 13-15hrs from it, so I just make sure to plug it in every night. You can also put a battery indicator in the notification area of your taskbar so you can always know what level the battery is at, which I think is a very useful feature. Also, the dongle has a pretty cool feature in that you can connect other Corsair devices to it – so if you have a wireless Corsair mouse, you can save a USB port and connect both the headset and mouse to the headset’s dongle. And speaking of, the range on these is pretty solid and about the same as other wireless headsets. Zero noticeable latency or lag too, thanks to the Slipstream wireless. I’m able to walk to my bathroom about 20ft away and I still get a signal even though it’s going thru 2 walls. It’ll occasionally drop out when going thru several walls, but it’s got a pretty solid connection and I’ve certainly never had any problems when I’m in the same room as the dongle – never any static, loss of connection or anything, sound is always crisp and clear when within 10-15ft of the receiver. There is also some RGB on the earcups and mic, but I personally shut it off to save battery life. I mean you can’t see the RGB while wearing the headset so the only reason to keep the RGB on is if you’re streaming and other people can see it – but if you’re alone, do yourself a favor and shut it off or at least turn the brightness down because it’ll get you an extra 1-2 hours of battery life. Overall, I can absolutely recommend this headset, it’s very well built, sounds great, it’s comfy, the mic is incredible, and it feels like it will last a long time.Tl;Dr – excellent headset, sounds great and microphone is incredible.

The best mic on a gaming headset but read if not using for gaming

Great headset for their intended use. Comfortable, great mic, and solid connection.PC: I wfh and tried to use them on my work computer and had some issues with occasional static on Microsoft Teams. Unfortunately I can’t install their software on my company laptop so I have to return as I’m in a lot of meetings. No one complained about the quality or anything, I’m just particular. I recorded myself with and without a foam pop filter and no noticeable difference. I was surprised how much background noise they cancelled out when I cranked up the TV volume. The mic is complimentary for my female voice (some mics make me sound annoying and more high pitched).Android: If you use a USB adapter with your phone, your phone or tablet will recognize it as an external keyboard device so while you can use them for audio and sound will play, your onscreen touch keyboard won’t register anymore.I have tested the white Aurora Logitech, the Corsair Virtuoso (most heavy and uncomfortable headphones ever), my kid’s Razer, and the Logitech Vibe…these beat them all.

Fantastic Headset – Software could really use work. Bad build quality for earpads

The HS80 Wireless is by far the best headset I’ve owned. However, it’s not without it’s flaws. The Corsair iCue software is hot garbage and sometimes just decides to not work, but that’s less an issue with the headset itself. I have to replug the headset dongle maybe once or twice a week because it just decides to not connect to iCue sometimes. The above issues are easily worked around, just annoying. My main complaint and the reason why I didn’t give 5 stars is that the build quality for the earpads is very lackluster. I got my headset back in Nov. and both of my earpads are starting to rip loose. They use a very weak glue that doesn’t hold well and will start to separate from the plastic after some use. Mind you, I’m always very careful with my tech, so it’s not like I’m throwing these around or pulling on the fabric. They just tear from the glue over time.On the bright side, Corsair said they are aware of the issue and will provide replacements if you put in a ticket with them. I just put one in today so I haven’t heard back yet, but will update this review when they do so.

Excellent headset for gaming and multimedia.

I was using a four generation old Corsair headset that was find for communicating with friends and family, but its sound quality was lacking. I got this headset almost entirely because of its Dolby Atmos capability. With more games and movies utilizing the technology I felt like I was missing out with my previous headset. I could not be more satisfied with the build quality, sound quality, and battery life.

Very good headset, with some drawbacks

It’s very well-built and comfortable. Has good sound quality, excellent mic quality and it’s very beautiful. The only real cons are:Battery Life – Mine lasts around 8-10 hours with the RGB turned off all the time. I think it’s an ok duration but it could be a bit better, especially because Corsair advertises 20 hours.Range – Really sensitive. The receiver is installed in the back of my PC and it’s pointed to the wall. Just because of that my range almost halves compared to when I put it on the front panel. However, that may be because my house is made of bricks and they can block the signal.Adjustability – It’s very comfortable for me, but I don’t recommend it if you have a big head, because it’s not that flexible.

corsair replaced the dongle that amazon warehouse didn’t send me

got this for a pretty good warehouse deal, about $80 with WA tax. it didn’t come with the usb c cable or the wireless dongle. i guess someone else lost theirs, and/or needed another cable to charge their phone. i asked amazon for a return label and they forked one over, but i won’t be needing it.i asked corsair for a replacement dongle with my hypothesis, a photo of all of the packaging i did receive, a photo of the headset’s serial number, and a pdf of my invoice from amazon. after an address confirmation from me and an inventory check from them, they delivered me a slipstream dongle. i suppose i could have asked for a cable but i told them i already had one, and it works just fine.i successfully paired the headset with their iQue software after plugging both the headset and dongle in and enough fiddling. after pairing on my windows pc, removing the dongle and plugging it into my linux laptop, the headset was connected and paired with it instantly (but i did have to manually select the audio device in my system sound settings to pull youtube off of the laptop speakers), so the dongle and headset hardware now are indeed “paired”, without necessarily needing the software, which is nice.the close-backed speakers are a little loud so i run windows sound at like 10%. the mic quality is pretty good, but to do a mic check i have to turn the speakers up, risking blasting them when i resume my music after my mic check without turning the sound back down. there is a mic boost in the ique software you can set from 0 to 10. but the quality is pretty good, and you know discord is going to clean it up anyway.in windows, the headset shows up as a wired usb sound device when you plug in a usb-c cable to charge it, side by side with the wireless sound device if you have that set up. by default it ran in 8-channel mode, you might want to set it to 2-channel for less latency in multiplayer gaming. watch the hardware canucks review.

    Amazing build quality

I have owned these headphones for a little over a month now at the time of this review. The sound quality is not what I was hoping for… People do use third party applications to perfect the sound profile but I cannot be bothered to do that. The Corsair headphones are good enough gaming. It’s not bad sound, it’s “could be better” sound. If they had better sound profiles this would easily be the best gaming headphone I have ever bought. The Microphone is great, very clear, very good noise cancelation, and it naturally sits outside of your breathing range meaning it is extremely rare to accidentally breathe into your mic.The comfort is great! I wear beanies 24/7 and the head phones go over my beanie and do not hurt my ears. The pressure is tight enough to make sure they stay emplace but never gives me any aches or pains. It’s perfect. I have no clue how they feel without a beanie, but if anyone has a lot of hair or bigger head, these headphones will work. The build quality is exactly what I wanted. This thing feels like a tank, I have no worries about breaking it on accident. If I trip over the chord I am more worried about throwing my computer to the ground than breaking anything on the headset . And that is the whole reason I bought them, I wanted headphones that would last YEARS and not have wear and tear issues. In all, I would highly recommend these! If you want something with absolutely perfect sound, these are not for you.If you want something with amazing build quality, great microphone, and great comfort. This is the headset for you.(Note: the sound of these surpass many headsets in the $40-60 range, but for the $80 range these are at… There are better sounding headsets in this range, but you will sacrifice the microphone and build quality that these have.)

    Requires Tweaks

First of all, these headphones IMO sound like garbage out of the box. I connected them to my pc, downloaded ICUE and immediately launched Dead By Daylight. I was underwhelmed. The sound was flat and the sidetone (ability to hear your own voice as you speak) was non-existent. After hours of research in both Reddit and Corsair forums it became apparent that almost everyone who bought these had a similar experience. Don’t give up on them. I’m glad I didn’t. I downloaded Dolby Atmos and configured a custom EQ setting. It comes free with the wireless version of these but the wired version requires a one time $15 fee. Night and day difference in sound. I was amazed at how crisp they now sound. The missing sidetone issue is corrected by turning your game (or whatever app you’re using) volume down and turning the headset up to at least 40%. Viola…sidetone is apparent. If you are willing to tinker with these, they are a great purchase and my rating would have been five star had they sounded like they do now right out of the box. Solidly built, comfortable and customizable.

Well, the microphone doesn’t work too well. But still an amazing headset.

So I bought my HS80 because of the amazing reviews the microphone was given, but when I turned it on OBS it was showing some really disappointing low levels. This can be easily patched out, it’ll just take some time. The earmuffs are very comfy, and I had to remove the support band to fit the headset, but I have an absolute fish tank of a big head. The muffs are nice and deep, atmos is a joy to use, and the range for the price is really good. I can go to the next room over and kitchen and still listen to music. For the $129 I bought it for it is really worth the price. So pros:Pretty good fit for a big head.I like the Atmos that it comes with.Deep cups and my ears don’t touch the drivers.Medium clamping force, doesnt move around when I am walking around my house and doing chores.Sturdy build. Solid rubber band, solid metal pivots.Charges over USB C.The cons :(The microphone device drivers need to be updated so it actually delivers on what the reviewers mentioned. Currently it is maxing out at 28% absolutely eating the mic with all volumes set to 100%. Oddly sounds clear as a bell in recordings in OBS.Had to remove the support band so it would fit my head, which is kind of a pro because it was actually designed to be removed.I would give the battery rating about a medium because it can last an entire day, but you just have to hang it up and charge it over night. For wireless, and even though the mic is a little low, for the headset alone it is worth the $129. The sturdy build, the deep cups, and the atmos is worth it. I’m now on hour 6 wearing them today and they are so much better than BT earbuds.Update: The earmuffs are falling apart now. I did figure out the Mic issue and it works damn well. I love the isolation from the immersive sound qualities. I would have paid $20 extra for swapable earmuffs.Another update: Earpads are swappable. They are available here on amazon. I got the big fuzzy ones coming.

    Great Sound Bad Comfort

These headphones have phenomenal sound quality and even mic quality. Simplicity of use is amazing too… Just plug in the usb transmitter and your good to go! The only thing about these headphones that kept it from getting a 5/5 stars is the comfort level. This can vary based on different people but me personally think the way they fit is was too tight. When i first put them on they are fine a little snug especially cause the top frame is so stiff and doesnt have that much flexibility, but after 1 or 2 games I find myself constantly adjusting them because the spot around my ears are starting to ache. They aren’t that adjustable… the little strap you use to make it higher or lower on your head is kinda pointless to me because when i loosen it, it completely eliminates the suspended feeling and it would end up creating a sore spot on the top of my head and if I tightened it it wouldn’t sit right on my ears. The fact that they are “suspended” Style at all is ridiculous (sorry if i sound like a hater) it was just false advertisement to me because i love the weightlessness real suspended headphones provide, and these dont even scratch the surface. The band doesn’t even have that much slack. Im just ranting at this point. Long story long, these headphones have unmatched sound and mic quality for its price, I just personally hate how i cant wear them for longer than 30 minutes without them hurting my ears or the top of my head. This isnt going to effect everyone for everyone has different size heads and ears yet i consider my cranium close to average lol im going to either return these or give them to a friend, either way looking at them reminds me of the pain and disappointment I feel.

    Mic Quality 5 stars

So this review comes months after owning. I have used this daily for content consumption and gaming. This is one of the best gaming headsets I have used. Best quality about it is its mic. Hands down best mic in a wireless headset. Recording my audio and listening back as well as complements from other gamers this is superb. Comfort is pretty good. I have and average size head and fits great. My ears do not touch inside the cups. If you have a larger head this may give you trouble. The head band reminds me of my steel series and that’s a good thing. I find that very comfortable and zero pressure points. Sound quality…..oof not great. Valorant sounds we’re just kinda off. Adjusted EQ and it was still off. Then I remembered you get Dolby for free with this. So downloaded that. Activated, and haven’t changed since. It’s great. I can pick up enemies easily in Valorant. Foot steps are easily pick out. I could even tell you which agent is moving where on the map. But just the basic EQ was not cutting it. Wireless performance has been flawless. I have the dongle at the front of my pc. Zero issues. I moved the dongle to the back and I do get some cut outs. So you’ll want to keep it close. Overall it’s one of my favorite headsets I’ve used on my pc and for the price I really think it’s underrated.

This headset is phenomenal. I play COD and I can hear footsteps when no one else can. This headset is loud, I usually have my PC audio around 48-54 and I can still hear everything crystal clear. My friends can hear someone on the left, I can hear someone on the left downstairs around a corner crouching. It’s like having a sonar in the headset.

Headphones are easy when you game, but finding one with a good mic, when you have a gaming channel, is a pain in the rear!I’ve gone through SO MANY headsets looking for a mic that would be less hassle, by giving good sound quality and muffling out background noises, and I finally hit gold!Just yesterday, I was recording a video and my dog was growling, about 5 feet away from me when Amazon dropped off a package, and I thought for sure I would have to redo that section. Was shocked when I went to edit and I couldn’t hear the dog!Still had to redo the section because I was getting onto the dog and telling her to be quiet, I couldn’t hear her! So editing is so much easier when you don’t have to screw around with the sound! Highly recommend for anyone recording or just playing!

Been using this headset for a year. The mic is decent, doesn’t work without opening iCUE software. Battery is 3/5 compared to other headsets on the market. Game and other sound quality is 3/5 at best. The stock ear muff that comes with it, lasts a good month or so before it gives out, bought a 3rd party one that has held out the rest of the time. I gave the Corsair HS80s a shot recently as I was on the search for a decent wireless gaming headset. Overall I had an average experience. The Positives:In comparison to the Corsair Virtuoso XT, I found these more clear in sound quality, but not as loud. Although while they were better, I still considered them to be mostly average.Build quality was decent enough. They were comfortable on my head, and the earpads were a nice shape for my ears. There was also less heat buildup with the earpad material.According to my friends in a discord party, the microphone was the clearest in comparison to the Virtuoso XT and the Razer Blackshark V2. However, in comparison to my wired Logitech G Pro headset, the HS80s we’re still inferior. But that could also be an unfair comparison from wireless to wired. The RGB is a cool touch if you’re into that kind of thing. Personally I turned if off to avoid draining more battery.Wireless distance was good enough for my small house. No break ups in quality when I walked from one side to the other. The Negatives:I just wasn’t blown away by the sound quality. Between the Virtuoso, BlackShark V2, and this set, I’d rate this set the best of the 3. But overall, the best of these 3 was still not good enough for me to keep. I’m no audiophile, but I still want something that sounds clean and clear, and a lot of my gaming/comms sounded too muddled together, even after EQ adjustments. The mic is too stiff and floppy. I’d almost prefer there to be a little bendiness to the mic so I can adjust it when needed. This Sidetone was too low to be effective and noticeable. The BlackShark V2 had by far the worst Sidetone I’ve ever experienced in a headset, but both the Virtuoso and HS80s were not far behind in being way too quiet. The Logitech in comparison has the perfect amount of adjustable Sidetone sound (again, a wired headset), but I’ve also heard the wireless G Pro has nice Sidetone as well.Overall, this was the best of the 3 wireless headsets I tested, but not good enough to keep. I’ve been on the search for a nice wireless headset after reading that no “good” wireless headsets exist yet, but the HS80s didnt fit the bill either. Clean and clear sound quality with a solid Sidetone are too important of features for me to have in my headset, and the HS80s just didn’t provide enough of both for me to stick with them and use this headset regularly.

You will need to replace the hearcups within a few months.

The noise quality and microphone quality is pretty good, nothing to complain about there. The build quality leaves much to be desired. I have only had my headphones for a 4-5months and the ear cups need to be repaired / replaced. There is also a tiny micro crack caused from when I would pull the headphones wider to put them on my head. The earcups are designed to be replaceable, which I like. However it can be next to impossible to remove them the first time. It took me 20 minutes of struggling to get the right earcup to come off and I could only remove the left ear cup after I used a screwdriver to forcefully pry out one of the corner locking wedges (prying it up instead of rotating it like it should be). After removing them once they become very easy to put on and take off.

Almost Perfect! Major Software Bugs do Exist!

Got The Product and was very happy! Plugged it in and noticed that the default sound settings is muffy/stuffy. This isn’t a big deal since the iCUE Software comes with an Equilizer to clear up and better the audio. However This is where problems Begin! Trying to turn on 7.1 Surround sound in the iCUE software I noticed it will not turn on at all! On my older Corsair Headset which was the Void RGB headset it would switch from the stereo button to 7.1 Surround sound! Maybe it’s me and the headset doesn’t have it? I really cannot tell. If not Dolby Atmos will have to do for now. Another issue there is that I know for sure is an issue is when you restart your Computer or turn it on from a shut down the iCUE software that you use to change the RGB on the headset and Equalizer will NOT detect the headset and the USB dongle. You would have to disconnect from the USB Dongle and connect it again. It doesn’t sound like a big deal but it WILL get annoying doing it constantly when restarting your PC or just turning it on. A problem I didn’t have on my Void RGB Headset. Corsair has done nothing so far to fix it. If they do I will try and add an edit. Another Huge problem is that when charging the headset it has to STAY ON… Why Corsair WHY! What is this Product Thinking Consideration??? Most people like me charge our headsets at night we DO NOT want it on! Why is it on the older Void RGB headset you can turn it off and the headset will charge…? Now on this more modern headset you have to leave it on just so it can charge? Doesn’t make any sense to me. One thing for sure if these things are not fixed this WILL be my last corsair Headset Product ever! My older Corsair Void RGB headset kept bass boosting outrageously randomly for no reason which is why I bought a different Corsair headset to give them a second chance. However turns out this seems to have more bugs than that… Now you all know. But other than the bugs it does have a chance for redemption with a pretty cool design and feels good wearing it and when tuned for your needs it sounds good! With hopeful future bug fixes I would love to see these issues fixed that I found within a Month and a half. That will be my true deciding factor on my next headset after the HS80s is the will for Corsair to fix these issues that I’ve also seen others have.

Best headset I have ever tried, and I have tried a LOT!

First, let me say that I have tried a ton of headsets from every brand. Logitech, HyperX, Corsair, JBL, Astro, Steel Series, etc. I settled on the HyperX alphas and they were my daily drivers for over 2 years. I loved them and they still work great, but I really wanted to get a set of wireless headphones, and not break the bank. The wireless version of the Alphas were almost $200 and I didnt want to spend that much, so i tried the Steel Series Arctic 7’s. They sounded good, but were horribly uncomfortable. I returned, and saw the Corsair HS80’s on sale, and saw they were atmos certified, so I decided to give them a try. Needless to say, I was no disappointed. Let me tell you what I love:1. Comfort. So good. I have a big head (7 5/8″) so finding headphones that fit is hard. No problems at all with these, and I can wear them all day without issue.2. Mic – Ok, this is a surprise here. I love that you can flip it up to mute, that’s sweet. However, thats not what makes it great. Everyone that I play with can’t believe how incredibly good I sound now. The mic quality is amazing, and it’s ability to filter out background noise is second to none. I had two people behind me having a full conversation, and loudly, and my friends never heard a word. Incredibly impressed.3. Sound – Atmos is so nice. Music is so clean, and immersive. Games, especially COD Warzone, is just fantastic. Movies. Oh man. I am just blown away. This is my first pair of atmos headphones, so maybe I dont know really good atmos, but for me me, wow. I love it.4. You can use them with multiple computers with a nifty little trick. Plug the wireless dongle in one, and the usb cable in the other, and just hold the power button for 2 seconds and it swaps back and forth. Really nice.I have absolutely nothing bad to say about these and can’t recommend them enough.

    Nice headset!

I got these on sale on Black Friday for $100 and feel that the quality is worth about that price. I use them for listening to music while I’m working and for gaming. It’s a nice looking headset. The first time I used this headset, my friends mentioned that they needed to “turn me up” in Discord, so the reviews stating the microphone is a bit quiet are correct. However, the microphone quality is amazing–they said I sounded completely different, like I was in the room with them. I can definitely see why the mic is referred to as “broadcast quality.”I find the headset to be quite comfortable. I used them yesterday while working for about five hours, took a break, then wore them again for gaming for another 3-4 hours. Barely noticed they were there. They do slide a bit when I bend down, but they don’t completely slip off my head like my PlayStation headset did.My only complaint so far is the battery charging time. I turned the RGB brightness down to minimum and got about two evenings worth of use out of the headset before I got a low battery warning. I plugged them in to charge at 11pm before going to sleep, and they were still charging when I woke up at 8am. That seems like a long time to me when the same charger charges my phone to 100% within two hours.

    Comfortable with a good mic

Overall this headset is goodI really enjoy the cloth earcups that comfortable and the crystal clear mic quality.I don’t really care for the adjustable strap that allows for the headset band to loosen/tighten.I think the sound quality is meh by default, but can be improved if you use iCue to adjust the EQThe range on the wireless capability is like 10 yards depending on if there is anything between the headset and receiver.Other things to consider:- use a noise gate in discord if you have others in your room that are gaming- disable 2.4Ghz on your router if it is in the same room you are in (if you are having random drop outs)-

    Exceptional mic quality!

The Corsair HS80 Headphones are a hidden gem! Not only do they have top-notch sound quality, with deep bass and clear highs, but the microphone quality is exceptional beyond any wireless headsets in compare. I can have clear and crisp conversations without any background noise. The plush memory foam earcups are incredibly comfortable for extended gaming or listening sessions. The build quality is solid, and they look great too.The only drawback I’ve noticed is the weak glue used to bond the fabric pads, which started to come off after a month of use. I was able to re-attach the fabric with super glue and a key tag, but even with that, I still highly recommend the Corsair HS80 to anyone looking for headphones with excellent sound and microphone quality. They truly deliver!

    Great product

My only complaints are:-the battery life being a little too short compared to my old steel series 7.-the lack of isolation that I prefer in a headset, but that can be fixed with replacement ear pads.I used Dolby Atmos on my old Corsair Void headset and I’m glad this headset takes advantage of the great things Atmos equalizers do in music and games

    Almost perfect

I really like everything about this headset, good sound, comfortable to wear. My only disappointment is the range isn’t as good as I’d like, you won’t be able to wander super far without the connection dropping, but you can move about a room away and still use it.

    Okay for the price

I have owned this headset for less than a year. The cloth around the left ear cup has failed and mostly fallen off, the USB receiver is becoming increasingly less reliable, and I must unplug it and plug it back in to fix multiple issues from a quiet mic to the head set not connecting. The PC app leaves little to be desired, all it enables you to do is adjust EQ settings. The sound from the drivers has remained good throughout and have no issue to report there. For those with larger heads, it will be a tight fit and you will be left feeling uncomfortable after multi-hour use.TLDR: Meh for the price, lacks adjustment and customizable configurations, USB receiver is spotty, and the mic isn’t consistent after prolonged use. Spend your money elsewhere.

    Not for competitive gaming

I couldn’t get it to sound right even with the reccomended corsair software (icue). I tried the Dolby atmos software as well and thought that was near but overall it just didn’t fit my needs.Valorant – I couldn’t hear where the enemy footsteps were coming from unlike my astro 10s which did a much better job at.For casual gaming this should be find just a warning having to adjust the audio which is annoying. Wish these headphones came with a competitive audio option, or standard audio for overall gaming.

    Great Headset, Terrible Software

The headset is pretty swell. The weight is acceptable, the headband sits nicely on my head and feels comfortable. The Earcups are soft and fit around my ears well, including my glasses. The sounds quality is solid for what you hear, but the people listening to me inform me that the microphone is really excellent. Battery life is good, you can use it all day and charge it back to full throughout the night no issue. However, the maximum range on the headset is ~30 feet, less if there is any degree of Line of sight blocking. This headset has less wall penetration than my last one did.The software is also extremely meh, but luckily you can get away without installing. I had an issue where even with the software off, as long as it would installed, when I changed discord room (within the same server) it would bork everything until I turned the headset on and off again. When I uninstalled the software all technical issues went away.

Lowest price you’ll pay for a great headset

Update: these don’t travel well as the frame will crack under any pressure. I placed my headset in a soft headset bag i already owned before packing it in my backpack but should have bought a hard case. Even though the frame is cracked the headset has stayed together and is still usable 1 month after the cracks.I game several days a week and I’m on work calls/presentations all the time. For a wireless headset, this is the cheapest model you can get without sacrificing any quality. It’s comfortable enought to wear several hours a day. It is a little slack and may fall off my head if I stand up and stretch down to touch my toes, but the little bit of slack is probably the price you pay for added comfort. The padding is also great at blocking external noises. I did not buy the one with blootooth, kind of whish I had now but I still love this headset. I also suggest downloading the I-Cue software for the equalizer. I can’t stray too far from my compute or I’ll loose my signal but this is comparable to every headsets I’ve tried in this price range.

Sound Quality is amazing, so’s the Mic….BUT, without the I-CUE app, you maybe out of luck

I love this headset, don’t get me wrong. I first set it up for my personal laptop, installed the I-CUE app, did all the updates and tested it on some games, Discord and even some videos. Sound was great and mic was awesome..BUT, them i tried to connect it to my work laptop. Seemed great, immediately reconized and sound and mic still amazing. BUT, after 10 minutes, it completely shut down. I though maybe it wasn’t full charged, so i plugged it in and let it go for awhile. Made sure it was fully charged and tried again, it shut down again in 10 minutes. So, i assumed something was wrong and got to googling. It turns out, there is a setting in i-CUE that turns off the “Turn off in 10 minutes” setting. So i went to install the i-cue app, nope, blocked by work. Googled again, looking for more solutions and have been unable to find one.SO, my advice is…This is a great headset, but if you expect to be able to use it on a work laptop or computer that you don’t have admin rights on, you either need to be VERY friendly with your IT department…or look for a different Headset

Narrow earcups and very quiet microphone

TLDR the audio is great with light tuning in the EQ and the microphone QUALITY is amazing, but the overall mic volume is too low for me, even with Windows settings maxed out, and the earcups are a tad narrow causing some constant light pressure along the back of my ear, especially if walking around. If the microphone volume was acceptable I could have lived with the earcups. The audio quality out of the box wasn’t the best, the mids are a bit too strong and muddle the highs. Messing with the eq and raising the highs gave an amazing sound which is among the best in headsets at this price range, from my experience. The sound is a little richer and cleaner than what I get from my Arctis 7s. The cloth earcups do mean you miss a bit of the bass, but I didn’t find the experience lacking since the mids were stronger and helped fill the gap. This headset doesn’t offer any 3d audio or surround sound simulations. The microphone was probably the best and worst thing about this headset at the same time. For a wireless headset, the quality of this microphone is ASTOUNDING. I’ve used a Blue Yeti and AT2020USB as desk microphones in the past and on a purely quality review, this microphone is right there with them for anything but the purest audiophile.Where the microphone suffers is the volume. I’m unsure if my model was defective (due to other concerns below I didn’t choose to replace to see and instead did a refund), but even with every mic setting I could find in Windows and the Corsair software maxed out, my friend had to set me to 200% in discord compared to my Arctis 1s or 7s at a normal 100%. If you plan to also use this as a work headset as well, the volume might not be great for zoom or teams calls. I did not test to see how much this microphone could be boosted in OBS capture for streaming. The fit of the headband support is great and the inside adjustments are good if slightly limited, but the earcups were a bit too narrow for me. The memory foam compresses nicely, but when work there was a mild constant pressure against the back of my ears. For normal sitting and gaming it was fine, but since it is wireless, getting up and walking around made it was noticeable for any tiny movements of the headset.Apart from the ears, the overall clamp and fit was perfect though – my Arctis 7 which uses a similar elastic strap system was always too loose for my head and slipped around heavily when walking or bending, but this never seemed at risk of sliding off.

It does what it’s supposed to BUT the ear muffs are susceptible to wear and tear.

It does what it’s supposed to BUT the ear muffs are susceptible to wear and tear. Almost 2 months in the earmuffs are falling apart. Maybe the problem is me because I would move the ear muff behind my ear when talking to someone next to me and maybe that contributed to the wear and tear. I would recommend taking the entire headset off first. Also I don’t know if it’s possible to put the earmuffs back together. I might have to glue it back on because the adhesive stopped sticking to it I guess.Other than that it’s great for gaming. good sounds great mic quality and the noise cancellation is good also. It has a lower battery life than advertised though which isn’t a big deal. It’s very comfortable I’m glad it doesn’t squeeze the top of my head like the void pro did.I would give it a 4.5/5 but the issues with the ear muffs drop it down to a 2 for me. My Corsair Void Pro Earmuffs lasted years while these HS80’s only lasted less than 2 months. I see another review on here with the same issue after 10 weeks. Mine lasted 11 weeks and it’s the same ear

    Caution on iCUE software

If you have other products such as ASUS, and Logitech that require their software: iCUE will hate it. It caused my PC to hang on shutdown and restart, then BSoD with the error: DRIVER_FAILURE. After I uninstalled iCUE, all the errors disappeared. So what to do? If you have this issue too: I had to install iCUE to shut off the RGB lights and then uninstall it. It WILL stay off. The downside, the lights on the mic will not stay off. You won’t able to see the battery status, but you can always look at the tiny light or hear the beeping warning. I use DOLBY for the equalizer.Like every wireless headphone– while the mic seems to be clear to others, I was too quiet. iCUE has the boost mic, but it won’t stay on after uninstalling it. I had to install APO Equalizer to boost the mic and it fixed it.The sound is decent, but you need to mess around with the available settings. DOLBY seems to make it sound okay. It feels comfortable but I do have a small head. It’s kinda light. Not enough to give me headaches which is a plus. The battery life, well… I haven’t tested them long enough to give an opinion.Overall, it’s okay. But I’m really annoyed I had to work around these headphones because the software is awful. iCUE taking 3GB? I really suggest making a lite version just for the headphones.
