    Stopped working and connection issues

At first this headset was amazing. Sound quality and features are outstanding. Purchased 7 months ago and now they wont charge or turn on, so I took a star off. Luckily, ROCCAT support is replacing them under warranty.Considering I am having to replace them already I figured I would also mention other issues.1: Getting it to charge on the dock was a pain. I had to position it a specific way and adjust the right side down to get it to connect to the prongs.2: Most of the time the dock would stop connecting to my PC thus disconnecting the headset. Then getting it to reconnect I had to unplug the dock, replug, and then restart the headset (all steps multiple times before connecting).3: The illumination on the dock was faulty and wouldn’t illuminate at all 90% of the time.4: This is not a fault issue, but the LED’s on the headset and dock are different than most of the ROCCAT products. So the AIMO illumination would not sync with the rest of my products. All of the issues besides having to be replaced made me decide to take another star off. Great product when it works correctly considering the price, but with the issues I have had I honestly wouldn’t purchase it again.

    Amazing headset!

This headset is amazing, I can even say it is playing in the big leagues. The charging dock is AMAZING! Do not pay attention to people complainig it is hard to connect to the charging pins, you just don’t have to trow it but put it with love and it will work like a charm. The microphone and mute funtionality works great, same for noise cancelling. I work at home with my girlfrind right behind me, always on call, and people I speak with do not hear a thing.PLUS: it works great out-of-the-box, you don’t even need to install the software to enjoy it. I use it in my corporate computer where I can’t install anything, and the defaul settings are great! And I do have the software installed in my personal computer and it is super easy to use.10/10

    Amazing headset

Fits nice on my head, set up was not difficult, easy to customize on ROCCAT SWARM. Only complaint is I’ll get a pop up when the battery is low and the pop will say “25% battery left 1 hour left” and then immediately cut off. So I’m not sure if that’s the software issue or the headset itself. Still love the headset tho.

    A massive disappointment

I bought these headphones as a replacement for some Logitech headphones that broke on me last year. After a bit of research, I decided on these because I really didn’t want to throw a ton of money down on a pair of Arctis Nova headphones, but I still wanted a decent wireless headset. These looked great and a lot of the reviews I found seemed to have them highly recommended. Unfortunately, I have had nothing but issues since receiving these. I will say, the headphones themselves are great. They sound good. They fit well. They genuinely feel and sound well made. There are two big issues that ruin this set of headphones, however. The charging station is a joke. It barely fits the headphones appropriately and it takes tons of finnicking to ensure that the headphones are on and charging currently. Even then, you might not get fully charged headphones after they have spent all day charging. It is genuinely baffling to me. Then you have the issue of the software required to use these. The Roccat Swarm software is absolutely some of the WORST software I have ever used when it comes to anything on PC. I am now at a point where the firmware for the headphones will not upload. I have tried everything. At this point, I am just completely over it. The worst part, however, is that you are forced to use the software. The headphones will not work correctly without it. I will never be buying another Roccat product again after this. I had never owned a Roccat product before this and was willing to give them a shot, but this is absolutely one of the worst products I have encountered in a while.

    Half decent headset

2 issues.Issue 1: Flip-To-Mute mic did not always un-mute upon flipping it back down.Issue 2: Would sometimes have spotty audio connection where things would cut out for about a full second at a time.Pros: This headset is very flexible (hard to break), half decent for the price. I might try a Roccat headset again in the future, but for now i’m switching to a Corsair Virtuoso RGB wireless XTHonestly, I expected more out of Roccat. I LOVE their mice and keyboards. But this headset was lacking.

    Very nice headset!

I love that Headset. Bought it open box, but can’t see any usage. The sound is great, the quality is good, the rgb seems so good! I like it and would buy it again. Changed my old Corsair headset to this.Really love it! No connections problems, battery is strong, sound is incredible good!

    Comfortable & Intuitive

Bought the Roccat Syn headset about a month ago. Been using them every day to this point. No major issues to report, other than the RGB being a little funky.Pro’s-Comfort! As a glasses wearer the cups on the headset are very comfortable and don’t pinch my glasses. Also, the flip down mic is well placed and stays out of my way when I don’t need it.-Customization. Lots of options and tweaking to be done in the Neon software if you are into that stuff. Out of the box the sound is good though. I’ve just been using the 3D sound feature for action games (Destiny 2, Apex), and it sounds great. Besides that, the neutral sound on video/audio has been on point as well.-Battery Life. I’ve had the lighting off for the most part and have had no issues with the battery so far. Used it for up to 12 hours at a time with no issue.-Wireless Range. I own a few other headsets and I can say the Roccat Syn provides the best range out of all of them. It’s nice being able to be able to walk around the pad while keeping tabs on a podcast, song, discord chatter, etc…Cons-Software. While the Neon software is fine and all, it’s annoying that I have to use that as well as Roccat Swarm for my other Roccat devices. Wish everything worked with one piece of software. That said, the AIMO lightning does still work across all devices.-Features. Some of the audio features aren’t explained well in the software. Wish I was able to find about more about what features did what.-Lighting. Wish there were more RGB features in the software. All in all, love the headset. Good value if you can nab this when it’s on sale.

    software is TERRIBLE

I love the sound and the look of these. Sadly, I’ve returned them, and I can’t recommend them at $200. Why? because they constantly disconnect from my pc for no reason unplugging them and completely restarting doesn’t even solve the issue even though my pc says they are connected. Because of this they are totally unreliable as gaming headphones since you might be hearing 1 minute and then not hear anything another and it’ll take around an hour for them to finally decide to start working again.

Low assemblage quality and low usability

Got these headphones because my Roccat mouse is pretty good but these are totally not worth your money, a lot of downsides:- Glue is coming out of joints near ear pads, that’s some 20 bucks chinese quality. And it’s not easy to remove, my fingers are sticky every time I use my headphones.- Microphone activates only one time out of two when you switch it on, so you need to check it manually every time before the use.- Sometimes it just turns off in the middle of your work meeting showing 0% charge, but if you reboot the driver app it’s 100% again.- Volume wheels on the back is very bad decision. Activates every time you lean back in your chair. If I knew this earlier I’d never buy these headphones. Shame on you Roccat.

    Really Bad Base Station

I think what really makes me think that these headphones aren’t worth it is because I have to unplug the base station and plug it back in to get the headphones to connect to each other every time I turn on my pc. I have written Roccat many email’s in the support part of there software to never get a resolution on how to fix this. The base station itself is a PITA to get the headphones to sit on and charge. I usually just use a wall adapter and a usb c cable to charge them off the base station. I feel if the indents where the headphones sit in the base station were deeper, this probably wouldn’t be a issue. The sound is pretty good, but those base station issues is what ruins these headphones for me. I usually use my rig 800 pro’s more because I can drop them in the charger and it will charge effortlessly, and it is always connected and ready to go with windows after a pc reboot.

Great headset but buy the Syn Pro Air instead

Love this headset but not worth the money. I started having issues almost right away. First one was replaced and replacement had the same issue where the battery would only last 1-2 hours and had to reach out to support. I was informed that this issue is a firmware issue that results in the docking station ending the charging process before the headset is fully charged and there is nothing that can be done at the time. So yeah pretty dock but kinda worthless and can save money by getting the Syn Pro Air. Other than that it is a great headset just wouldn’t spend the extra 100+ for a worthless dock.

This headset is so good better than any headset I had and I was using steel series pros before. The 3D spacial audio in this headset is so well done and the mic is 10/10 I would 1000000% recommend this headset especially for pc

    pretty good

so, I got this a few days ago and for the time being it a really good headset I also like the mic that came with it as it’s an ear rape mic I’ll make an update in like a month or so to test the how strong it is also the clamping force is kinda strong and for other people this could be a bad thing so, yeah that’s my review.edit: ok it’s been a bit over a month and so far, nothing too bad has happen but i do see want some people mean by its itchy when I have it hanging by my neck it itches so it’s not a terrible thing, but it can get annoying for other people so over all it’s a good headset not the best but still good it’s still a five star in my books you can still go wrong with it if you dislike the clamping force or if you don’t want it to itch your neck the rgb is really nice (something I forgot to say last month) but yeah it’s a good headset also if you don’t want to trust a kid on the internet that’s fine if check the other reviews and if you still don’t like it then i think it’s fine it’s not for everyone but yeah that’s all I have to say see ya o/

Awful charging ruins a good pair of headphones

These headphones are great quality. They sound great, the mic works well, and they’re comfortable. Unfortunately they’re all but useless because they’re always out of battery. The stand that they come with lights up in color, but there’s no simple indicator to show that they’re charging. If you set them on the stand even slightly wrong they don’t charge and you’ll never know. You can set them on the stand and it’ll blink like it’s charging, but then hours later you pick them up and they’re low on battery. Even if you plug them straight into an outlet, they sometimes just don’t charge. So they’re great headphones that you can’t ever use.

    My first choice for wireless

This headset has it all for me. Great battery life, good sound, good enough microphone, and might be the most comfortable headset I’ve ever worn. The only reason I’ve removed a star is for the software. UGH it’s awful. Slow, clunky, and feels like it has a 15 minute update every month. I have switched to regular headphones + a BEACN mic (amazing btw) and it does blow this headset out of the water. But if you want a full headset and you want wireless just get this. It’s leaps and bounds beyond anything else I’ve tested.

this headset is alright, definitely feels on the cheaper end of things. Sounds good and works good.but very loose on the head of an adult at max tightness, it’ll fall right off your head at the slightest look downward.I’ll be replacing these for another product soon as they wear out.

    Would not suggest

The headset is a great thought but the software kills the experience and makes it very frustrating. Turtle beach is entrenched in it and takes complete control of the audio and brings it to an incredibly low level not optimal for any kind of game that you would benefit for sound cues. The software for neon seem to not want to update it doesn’t show that it’s connected when it clearly is. Customer service for there equipment is a nightmare. Goes through 20 questions there isn’t a live member or an email to just send out and try to figure out. I wouldn’t suggest their headsets. The mice are another story but I feel there are better plug and play options for headsets that don’t mess with your audio.

    Is it worth it ?

I don’t really have any experience with high prices headsets so I decided to grab this pair. While it it comfortable and has moderate sound the mic quality really does it for me . I’ve had cheaper headsets in the past such as the turtle beach recon 200 and have been told that is sounds about the same if not worse . Great sound , ok comfort , and the mic could definitely be better for the price .

It was fine until I installed the lastest drivers then it all went downhill. I’m returning this and getting something else. Tech support wouldn’t even acknowledge that their driver update was the issue even though I see it all on the internet.I got a replacement and now the microphone doesn’t work. Connectivity Issues

The headset itself has great sound and a decent microphone, but the problem it has with connectivity is too much to justify the price of these headphones. The material used for the ear cushions is also not very comfortable and the headband cushion is not great either. As for connectivity, it will reconnect after like 30seconds of it trying to reconnect and 90% of the time will not reconnect until you unplug and replug in the receiver. Overall the headset is terrible as a wireless headset when it cannot even go far without disconnecting and then doesn’t reconnect for so long.

    Not worth it

Overall this was a big disappointment and resulted in a lot of aggravation. The headset would not charge and would only give a blinking red light meaning the battery was low. The power button on the headset would not work and the headset would only turn on occasionally when connected to the computer. When I did finally get it connected to the computer, the NEON software said mandatory updates were needed. This process failed multiple times, but after multiple reinstalls I got the first round of updates working. Then, the NEON software said a mandatory firmware update was needed, which of course failed. After this the headset would not turn on, charge, or do anything even when plugged into my PC. I’m not sure if my issues were the result of defective hardware, software, or both. However, I will be returning this and looking for another brand headset. I have a Roccat keyboard and mouse which work great, but this was terrible.

    Not a good product

These look cool, but they are just not a good product, especially when considering the price. First, they are extremely finnicky to turn on (you’ll see what I mean); also, once they are paired to a bluetooth device, they will ALWAYS automatically connect. At least on my model, Bluetooth can’t be turned off after being turned on, even when following the instructions in the manual. Sometimes it wont connect to the PC, and the adapter has to be unplugged and replugged (no way around this). Finally, who made the decision for the LED to flash RED before the device cuts on? How did that get approved? That is so dumb that I am questioning that I have a faulty model, because there is no way that a serious company made their device flash red to indicate “ON.”

    Great company, terrible product

I really like Roccat mice, so I decided to give this a shot. It sucked bad. High clamping pressure and shallow ear cups make these uncomfortable. And there is barely any foam at the top band, so you can feel the plastic. Sound quality is actual garbage. My Corsair Void Pro from several years ago (with a failing battery) sounds better and has a much better mic. I got comments immediately on discord about how crappy I sounded with this.So:1. Uncomfortable2. Poor sound quality3. Poor mic qualityI guess the RGB is nice at least? Though the battery life was not amazing on this, so if you buy it, expect to turn all that off if you want to game for a long time.I’m back on the hunt for a new headset. This one ain’t it—and for $150, I don’t think anyone should buy it. It’s just not good enough compared to the competition.

How is this even possible? I can’t even use it.

I love Roccat’s products and I have been using them for several years. This is the first time I bought a headset from Roccat. I am giving 1 stars to everything because I can’t give 0. I have to give 0 stars to this headset because I can’t even use it. Inner size of the earpads are too small, my ears don’t even fit inside. I reached out to Amazon if there is an option for bigger earpads and they offered me a refund but I had to pay for the shipping cost of returning the headset. The international shipping cost almost the same as the headset itself. Both Roccat and Amazon used to have great customer support but in this case they failed big time. I paid 190 USD in total for nothing. Very very unlucky product.

Great Sound, easy to set up

This is a great headphone, the sound is very good and I have to say that better than expected. The set up is really easy just plug and play but I recommend to download the Roccat Neon Software in order to make changes in the EQ and in my case turn off the lights and save battery. Mic is decent no problem to the other part to hear me and in terms of confort the hearpads are a little bit rough at the beginning but with the use is ok. Overall great headphone I really like it and it is my daily driver every day to work in front of my computer. I can not have an opinion on gaming since I don’t use it for that but the performance in terms of sound, mic and battery for me is on point. Excellent all and all.

Out of the box it sounds good as it is but with fine tuning even sounds more crisp. Trust me you won’t be disappointed.

    Cozy, but be mindful

The product is quite comfortible and has a great feel for extended use and audio, though be sure to fully charge the device before you begin first time set up. Otherwise you will encounter some issues with the headset itself. Outside that, the fit of the headphones themselves is rather gentle, but prone to slipping and falling free, so i would avoid using these with any VR or motion control set up.A good product I would mindfully recommend to most.

    AVOID THIS CHEAP HORRIBLE PRODUCT

Received thiese headphone, immediately there was a very loud crackle when putting the boom mic up and down. Contacted suppert and they refused to assist me despite confirming the fault so I know have a $250 paperweight. Further feedback, the headset on starting take about 10 seconds from pressing on to give you the “power on” feedback. It tales about 20 seconds to run through it saying “power on, battery high, bluetooth on, bluetooth connected” while drowning out any other audio. You cannot disable that feature. The dock is incredibly fiddly to get seated to charge the headset. The audio crackles consistently and the quality of audio is mediocre at best. The sizing of the headset on its smallest setting is massive and it does not maintain the position when you place it on the dock so you constantly have to re-adjust. The Mic quality is poor, ffirst time using it my friend asked if I was speaking through a potato. I have Sony, Bose, Sennheiser and B&W headphones and the Roccat feel in comparison like a cheap knockoff of a $50 headset.DO NOT BUY THESE HEADPHONES

    It barely works

The headset completely disconnects when charging. I have to turn off the headset, unplug the base, plug the base in, turn on the headset, then repeat for twenty minutes until it finally starts working. Also, why do I have to hold the power button down for damn near 30 seconds to turn it on? Like I’m sitting here holding this power button long enough to reconsider life choices and fall into a depression just because I spent an OUTRAGIOUS 250$ on this thing. Why doesn’t it stay connected. Why do I have to reconnect the headset every single time I give it a charge. It was literally charging on the base, then completely forgets about the base/connection inbetween when I remove it from the base to when it sits on my head. Sometimes, my PC detects the headset is connected completely, but have literally no sound. If that happens I once again, must repeat the steps mentioned above. Awful, incompetent, just terrible.

    Bad software

Pros: Easy setup sort of (see cons), sounds are great and battery life is decentCons: setup is plug and wait to see if their Neon software actually recognizes that you have the wireless headset plugged into the machine. I contacted gaming support about this issue. They said to uninstall and reinstall the software. This did nothing but waste time. I replied to them it didn’t help and haven’t heard back. No surprise as many others have had this very same problem. When dongle is plugged in and you start your Pc the software still asks to update. What I think it wants is the beta version of their new software which causes audio issues, connectivity issues and makes zero sense. In conclusion I am returning this in for something hopefully far superior.

Amazing audio quality but the fit is off

The audio quality is great on PC. I even use it when I play on my switch and it works well. I have the headset dock plugged into my Switch dock so that I’m able to use game chat. If you’re just using it through bluetooth with the Switch, you will not be able to use game chat so that is something to keep in mind. The docks must be connected. This headset really shines in the audio quality category. And the EQ app makes it easy to fine tune the audio to your preferences. The software also makes it easy to customize the RGB as well and has quite a few different preset options. The downside of this headset is the fitment. It is on the heavy side and doesn’t fit on my head the right way. It’s very loose and if I lean forward or back, the whole headset tends to slide off and requires readjusting. Even after adjusting the headset to fit slightly comfortably, the weight of the ear cups drags them down so that also requires constant readjustment.Overall, this is a very nice headset but if it fit a little better it would easily get 5 stars from me.

    I hate this headset.

Disclaimer: I bought this from Roccat directly, not on Amazon, but I hate the headset so much, I felt compelled to come write a review. I go through a lot of headsets. I’ve had Turtle Beach, Logitech, Hyper X, SteelSeries, and more. I look for sound quality and I look for comfort. I prefer a flip up or retractable mic over a removable one, it’s just easier for eating and drinking. I have a very difficult time finding any pros about this headset. I agree with the other reviewers, it feels cheap. The padding on the earcups are too shallow. The sound is lacking. The mic is lacking. The worst part about this headset is that it is very big. Even on the smallest adjustment, this thing is very loose. If I shake my head back and forth, and not even hard, just like I’m shaking my head no, I can actually shake this headset right off my head. It is not secure at all. If I look down, it falls off. If I move my head, it falls off. Not only is that annoying, it also means it creates no seal, so if you’re seeking a noise cancelling headset, forget about it. I am a huge Roccat fan. I use their keyboard, I have used their mice, this is the most disappointing product. Even turtle beach’s crummy headset is better than this one. If you have a large head, this may work for you, but then the lack of padding on the earcups may actually be a significant problem for you. I can’t imagine it would be comfortable if it were tighter. I’m going to be replacing it ASAP. The only reason I’m giving it 2 stars is because the battery life and range are both really decent. Everything else about this headset sucks.

Lovely headset, but so torn about the dock and RGB

I’m so torn about this gorgeous premium headset. It sounds fantastic and feels comfortable to wear for extended periods — but my head isn’t small and this is *almost* too big for me, unless I put my hair up as a kind of brace. That probably interferes with noise isolation, but the breathable pads are among the best I’ve felt in dedicated consumer-grade headsets. The RGB is subtle and looks amazing with its honeycomb gradient effect — but it needs currently buggy Windows software to configure, with no meaningful hardware controls for basic patterns or static color. And then there’s the dock. Oh, the dock. Balancing your headset on it to make sure the tiny pogo pins on one earcup base line up with the tiny magnetic port on the dock is tricky, assuming it works correctly at all. When it does work, the glowing setup is attractive in a tidy streaming set or other gamer space. The headset does charge directly over USB-C, and I’d recommend just picking up an inexpensive headset stand with a USB hub built in (shockingly common now) unless you have the space and the patience for the dock. The mic takes some force to click into place, but it’s flexible and retractable. I’ll update after I get a chance to use it — my gaming tends to be solo.Audio tuning is very like the current Turtle Beach Stealth 600 series, which tracks — Roccat and Turtle Beach are the same company, and Turtle Beach tuning is a selling point here. If you don’t need to go full RGB, you might consider a 600 or 700 Max (for the Bluetooth support) or USB (if all you care about is wired+2.4GhZ). But so far as I can tell, this headset is significantly better engineered, with lower clamping force and a more spacious fit, and may hold up better long-term.Get this if Turtle Beach audio tuning suits your gaming lifestyle and you want a comfortable, breathable headset with lots of bells and whistles. Wait a couple of months from release for the software to be fully realized, mind.

    Not great…

Headphones are a personal thing, everyone likes different things. These headphones just don’t do it for me and fall short in my opinion. I’ll try to detail why.The build quality feels cheap… The earpads are rough and stiff feeling, the foam in them feels like the kind that will degrade and crumble over time. It is light and stiff and not dense bouncy foam. The earcup adjustment just slides on hard plastic rails, there are no detents in the adjustment. I have concerns that over time they will loosen up and just slide up and down freely letting the earcups slide down my head over time. I feel like there is almost too much pressure where the earcup just touches my jawbone at the bottom of the cup. This is probably from the foam stiffness and given more time it might break in there and get better. There is a mic sidetone control and volume control on the headset. I cannot understand their design choice but they put the mic control on the side opposite of the mic. I’d think it should be the other way around. The volume control for some reason moves the volume in increments of 6. I am not sure why they didn’t choose 2 or 5 but on a scale going to 100 using 6 just seems weird. The microphone is stiff, positioned poorly, and not very adjustable. It falls between my nose and mouth in the lowered position. When I bend it down and in it wants to return to its previous position. It seems like they went through the design process for the hardware and then when finished realized oh crap we forgot to make software to control it. Quick get something sorta working and push it out the door. I had problems getting the software installed and working. I’d say my PC software is pretty clean and working well prior to trying to install it. My windows installation is less than a month old and up to date. It took me several installs and uninstalls to get it working right. I’ve had times where the software would say the headset isn’t connected, while I am wearing and listening to it. The settings in the software have little bubbles with an “i” inside. I would think that would mean I would get more information about the setting if I hovered or clicked on it but nothing happens.I have had the headset not work and needed to disconnect and reconnect the dongle to get it working again several times.Given all that, I don’t hate these but I also don’t think they are great. The headphones sound ok for gaming and general use but these aren’t going to win any sound quality awards.I like the flip-up to mute feature of the mic boom.I like the USB C connection on the headset itself. The wireless range is also very good. With the dongle plugged into the front top of my PC case I am able to travel anywhere in my ranch-style house and garage and not lose connection. The photo that I have attached is the headset with a Kone pro wired mouse. I have the mouse and headset set to Aimo for lighting control and the mouse brightness at 50%.In the end, if I had paid full price for this headset I would have been disappointed.

    Decent headset but buggy

Audio- Cinematic and good spatial awareness. I would’ve thought 50mm drivers would hit hard on bass, but it’s basically all mids in the default tuning. This headset can be really loud though, especially NPC voices that are amplified in the mix to borderline harsh volume levels. Try not to wear the headset when you turn it on because the bluetooth connection beeping is way too loud in your ear. It would be nice to be able to EQ these cans to get some more bass at least, but their audio driver is bugged with a recent Windows update, so all you can tune in the app is the RGB with very limited options. Seems like the default audio tuning is for voice chat over gaming experience.Comfort: Great cushion padding and not too much clamping force. This headset is comfy enough to wear for hours even with glasses. The Dock: Franky I could’ve done without this. It has some RGB but placing the headset correctly on the dock to connect with the pins is finicky and unintuitive.Build Quality: Solid, durable feeling plastic body and good cushions.Bugginess: I already told you about the buggy software/driver that isn’t compatible with recent Windows revisions. I also have experienced no audio from the headset after turning it on, despite verifying it as the audio output source in Windows. Power cycling the headset seems to rectify this. Also, several times when I powered on the headset it would immediately power off.Overall I think this headset is okay, but overpriced. I have sub $100 non-gaming headphones that I much prefer the audio on and the bugs are annoying, especially the inability to adjust the EQ currently. The Syn Max Air would seem more competitive at a lower price point.

    They sound great

I’m torn. The sound quality on these is excellent. The mic quality though, not so much. I typically use a Blue Yeti when streaming and my audience immediately commented on the quality of the mic on this headset vs the Yeti. It’s fine, but isn’t crystal clear/sharp like a yeti (which makes sense considering the cost of a standalone mic vs the cost of a headset with integrated mic). Back to the sound quality – I’m somehow hearing things I didn’t know were in a game I’ve been playing for 12 years. Tiny ambient sounds I never knew were there are now there. It’s interesting, it’s like hearing the game for the first time. The RGB would be cool to be able to change, the software to do so isn’t working properly. Hopefully this is addressed in a later update. The headset does hold a charge for an impressively long time, and is quick to charge, but my goodness is the charging dock fickle. You have to angle the headset just right and hope that it snaps into place. It’s pretty when it’s charging though, I’m a sucker for RGB pulses. The headset is surprisingly comfortable. I have an ENORMOUS head and typically hate every headset I try when it comes to comfort – but this one actually can stretch wide enough (without making my head feel like it’s about to pop) and the ear cups are huge – which I LOVE. My piercings aren’t getting smooshed up against my skull, the cups comfortably go all the way around my ears.TL/DR: the sound is excellent, this is the most comfortable headset I’ve ever worn, mic is good but not as good as a stand alone

    Disappointing but still decent

These headphones seem pretty over priced to me. I’ve got a Roccat Kone Pro Air mouse, and love it. These Syn Pro Air match the style and design of the mouse really well, so that’s one reason I was interested, however, some of their other qualities make me not want to suggest them as highly.Build quality:Overall, these feel really premium, with soft touch plastics, strong construction, high quality buttons, nice dials, and great looks. I don’t really have any complaints about them, however, I will say that this style of ear padding is not my favorite. I prefer the softer or leather type ear padding instead of this harder mesh type.Sound quality:Pretty good. Overall I would say that they’re above average. I tried messing around with the EQ a bit in the software, but it didn’t seem like it really did that much. The bass response is decent, but not as heavy as I prefer for music. Mids are mostly clean but can get muddy in busy music like metal. Highs are good and not overwhelming. For gaming, I think this headset would be pretty good but if you want to listen to music, probably would want to wear something else or use speakers.Range / Connectivity:Terrible. Truly awful. I don’t know if I got a bad unit or something, but this headset can’t even reach a single room away. What is the point in having a wireless headset if I can’t walk to my kitchen in my apartment without the headset disconnecting. Even at that, the reconnects are really bad, sometimes, if you get unlucky, it will even go static-y while you’re sitting next to your rig. The only way to get rid of the static is to switch to another audio device and switch back. In case you’re wondering, I did try a different USB port in a different location on my computer, but it did not make a difference. I think this is unacceptable for a $150 headset.Mic:I really don’t use this mic for gaming at all since I have a desk mounted one, but I think it’s great that you can physically take it off the headset when you’re not using it. I’d like to see more manufacturers do this. I think the quality is pretty decent but nothing to write home about. It’s a heatset mic, what do you expect?Battery life:Honestly I haven’t run the battery down really at all, so I think the battery life is pretty good, but using them in wireless mode is such a pain that I’d want to plug them in anyways…Overall:This headset is decent, good audio quality, good battery, good looks, average comfort, but I just can’t recommend it for this price. My $50 Razer Blackshark V2 X sound just as good, and are more comfortable. They’re wired obviously but I’d rather have wired than consistently disconnecting wireless.Oh, and also, the software is good, but it’s extremely dumb that they make you download a separate software for the headphones. They should have either integrated these into Swarm, or the mouse into Neon. Also, WHY would you not have the AIMO lighting transfer across?? Isn’t that the point?

Great connectivity and sound (comparison to Astro A50)

This gaming headset sounds great and is pretty comfortable to wear. I love the light design on the sides of the headset, it’s more subtle and subdued, but still looks really cool. I also like the docking station, it’s circular, so it takes up less space, and it’s got a light ring underneath that lets you know the status of the headset. Some people have complained about it being difficult to get the charging pins lined up on the base, but my headset seems to snap in place fine on the dock, although I will agree it is easy to bump the headset out of place. This headset is a little bit big, I feel like I have a decent sized head and the smallest size setting perfectly fits my head, so if you have a small head these may not work for you. They are comfortable to wear though and have a good sound quality. The mic quality also seems good, although I’m no expert in that, but it picks up my voice very clearly. I like that the mic detaches and can also move out of the way if you don’t want to use it.I also have a pair of 3rd Gen Astro A50 wireless that I want to compare these with since they were similarly priced. The Astro A50s come with cloth padding, while these come with nicer leather/gel pads that are more comfortable and stay cooler for longer wearing sessions. These headphones don’t have any padding over the speaker part though, so if you have big ears they may touch the plastic grate over the speaker. My Astros have a thin padding over the speakers which I wish these Roccats would have included. In my opinion the sound of the Astros is a little bit better, but not that much better, also I’m not by any means an audiophile, so I can’t describe to you why I feel that way.The Roccats do come up ahead on the Astros though in several areas. I think the Roccats steal the show when it comes to the docking station, charging, and wireless connectivity. The docking station of the Roccats is smaller, looks cooler, and the headphones connect to the charging pins much easier than with the Astros. My Astros also disconnect from the base station frequently even when I am right next to it. These Roccats haven’t displayed any connectivity issues with the base station though, and they can do simultaneous wireless and Bluetooth connectivity which is nice to be able to play stuff from my phone and computer at the same time (Astros can’t even do Bluetooth at all). Finally the Roccats have lighting effects (a little limited but it’s decent) that can be changed on the computer if you download the Roccat Swarm software, while the Astros don’t have any lighting.Overall, great headset that is comfortable, has good sound, a nice charging dock, great wireless and Bluetooth connectivity, and lighting effects. The things to keep in mind though are the big price tag, design geared toward larger heads, and the lack of padding inside the ear cup.

    I wanted to like it

I wanted to like the ROCCAT Syn Max Air. It’s comfortable due to the decently sized ear cups and breathability, it sounds good with decent but not over-expressive bass, it supports multiple devices connected (1 for the dock, 1 for bluetooth), and the software has a number of great features to customize your listening experience for your needs.Unfortunately, none of that really matters when you have connectivity issues, power issues, software update issues, and the dock while a cool concept is hard to use because there’s no real guide onto it so putting it on to charge is a major hassle. This is a very nice headset, but the user experience has been so awful for me that I don’t know how they could ever justify an exorbitant price tag like $250.Roccat: Redesign the dock, figure out why your software update tool took 10 tries to complete my update, and figure out why this thing has developed intermittent connectivity issues since I updated it then try again with your next release because this ain’t it, chief.

First, you have to sit them on the stand juuuuust right to initiate charging. Second, they somehow occasionally lose sound input (typically when the computer is asleep, but it has happened mid-use). You just need to unplug and re-plug the cord at the stand.

A great headset that could use a little more value

Let me start by saying that this is a very nice headset. In general, it’s very comfortable and lightweight to wear, and everything about it gives a sense of quality – the materials, the design, even the base station. I’m quite pleased with it overall, but when it’s branded specifically for gaming and competing in the same price range as some of the top headsets, I would expect a bit more convenience and refinement.Although I’m not exactly an audiophile, the sound quality is great for both gaming and music and has good bass (which can be increased to a respectable level via the Roccat Swarm software). I’ve had a few different gaming headsets over the years, and the audio quality is at least on par with – if not better than – the best headset that I’ve previously owned. They can also get *very* loud, louder than I’d ever want them. The main downside to me is that it’s missing polish and features. There are no media controls or programmable buttons – only power and Bluetooth. The mic flips up to mute which is a cool feature, but that’s the *only* way of muting it, which is kind of annoying if you’re ever frequently muting / unmuting your mic. Also, the headset takes a good 5-10 seconds or so to fully turn on, which isn’t the worst thing but is kind of strange considering my previous headset turned on instantly. The most annoying part to me is the docking. The headset sets down onto the base station standing up in order to charge; this is really neat in theory, but in practice, I have found it to be a significant annoyance trying to line up and set down my headset in just the right way. Especially after wearing them for a bit and stretching them out a little, they require careful placement to get into the right spot on the dock, and the majority of the time I have to fiddle with it for a few seconds to get it properly seated. I think this could have been improved by having more guidance for the headset while docking, or maybe a stronger magnet to pull it into place. The Roccat Swarm software which you can download is a bit basic and old school looking on the surface, but it’s functional, easy to use, and provides decent options for tuning the headset. It has some feature they call “AIMO” – which after some research I am still not quite sure what it does, just that it has to do with personalized RGB. My favorite part though is that it seems to be regularly updated which is always nice to see.=== Overall ===Pros:+ Premium packaging+ Great sound quality+ Good microphone quality+ Sleek design+ Lightweight and comfortable for long durations+ Plush ear cup material and spacious ear cups+ Can get LOUD+ Good signal strength+ Simple but decent optional softwareCons:- No media controls- No mute button (only tilt)- Mic mute sound and voice notifications are *deafeningly* loud- The headset is a pain to dock on the charger- Headband could use a tiny bit more padding- Takes a few seconds to turn on- Base station won’t reconnect after putting computer to sleep – have to unplug / replug it in (presumably this is just a bug)
